HERE COMES THE BRIDE…AND HE’S NOT HAPPY. Audra Drysdale grudgingly accepts that the mere presence of a husband will keep her men working on her ranch, and a greedy cattle baron under control. It seems a perfectly reasonable idea, then, to ask her uncle, who is the town attorney and a matchmaker of sorts, to find her a groom–a “proxy” who will take her orders and dish them out to the men. A … will take her orders and dish them out to the men. A marriage of convenience seems to be in order …
Dillon Pine is in jail for a conspiracy charge, but because of certain mitigating factors, he’s deemed a good risk for an unusual form of probation: serving as Audra’s husband. After a year, he can abandon her and she won’t tell. By then, she will have proven to the cowboys she’s a competent rancher, and the cattleman next door will be looking elsewhere for a wife. But when word gets out that Dillon came to Audra via Evergreen’s matchmaker, he’s dubbed a “male order bride.” The resulting jokes at his expense are constant and brutal. Just how much abuse can Dillon’s pride stand?
When Audra discovers her father’s death was no accident, she realizes her new husband is in danger, too. And she cares . . . quite a lot, it turns out. To save Dillon, she may have to let go of the one thing she’s fought her whole life to keep.
A heartwarming light comedy, Ask Me to Marry You tells a story in the vein of Love Comes Softly and Pride and Prejudice. Hope, courage, and selfless sacrifices – what you’ll do for the man you love. Enjoy this sweet, “clean and wholesome” mail order bride story–with a twist!more
In this book we have a cute listen with a mail order bride and the continuation of Dent and his fair lady from the first book in the series. I enjoyed listening to this book and the narration was great!
This is an audiobook of TWO stories!
Male Order Bride
Instead of a man seeking a woman, this convicted man marries a women in exchange for his freedom! Loads of fun! I loved the fact that they both had to humble themselves!
A Proposal so magical
Just when life couldn’t get any better, a blast from the past disrupts the apple cart! Perfect ending!
The narration was good. A few male voices were hard to decipher when the spoke right after each other, but otherwise it was spot on!
I liked the idea of a mail order groom and the difficulties that came to him. Those things enough him and his bride in name closer. The second story was about letting go of the past and nor seeking vengeance since the love of a man and woman along with God is what matters most.
Fantastic Audible Listen I Love This Book & Series!
Ask Me to Marry You
The Brides of Evergreen, Book 2
By: Heather Blanton
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in “The Brides of Evergreen”, Dent and Amy’s story in “Hang Your Heart on Christmas” and this book is just as great and heartfelt. This novella contains two stories, it starts off with Audra and Dillon’s story and includes a nice switch from mail order bride to groom. After her Dad dies Audra inherits the ranch and is fully capable to do so, but in those days woman were not looked upon to do so, ranch hands not wanting to be bossed around by a woman leave, some were pressured to leave for other reasons as well. So her Uncle comes up with an idea to find her a husband. Dillon is was sitting in the jail cell being railroaded for a crime he did not commit is offered a plea deal to get him out of jail. That deal included being Audra husband for a year. I loved how this worked out and what it leads up to. This a short story but there is plenty of drama, twists, angst, and a nice build up to friendship and romance. The second story is a continuation of Amy and Dent’s story, they are furthering their relationship. Amy is settled nicely into the town and is a well respected teacher. Jeremy, a friend from her former home in Ohio comes bearing gifts for her and plans of his own. More twists and drama here but I love how it ended. It was nice seeing the other town folk including Audra and Dillon in this story too. I am forward to see what type of trouble Jeremy will be stirring up since he decided to stay in town. Heather Blanton, thanks for another great story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Meghan Kelly is an awesome narrator and voice performer. She brings the character to life, gives each their own voice and personality. She does a wonderful job projecting the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story in her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for another awesome listen
Ask Me to Marry You
The Brides of Evergreen, Book 2
By: Heather Blanton
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly
What a great treat to have two stories in this Brides of Evergreen book! The first gives us Audra. She takes over the ranch when her father dies, but finds that running it as a woman has it’s disadvantages. She decides that a husband will made the difference and she marries Dillon. The agreement is for a year, so she can get her ranch in order and he can serve out a prison term. Will this “male” order bride live happily ever after? Book 2 leads us to Dent and Amy. When Amy’s polished friend shows up to help set up the library, and tries to woo her, will Dent tuck his head and bow out? I love these two stories. They are full of great characters just warm my heart. I love the growing relationship between Dillon and Audra. Their circumstances are tough. Between public humiliation and losing men, their situation does not look promising, but that does not stop their feelings from growing. And then we have Dent, who is impossible not to fall for. He is all man, though not polished but his feelings are true. His journey to Amy is one to make your heart sing. Great stories to keep you smiling.
Meghan Kelly is just amazing with her narrations of this book. I love her voice and cannot say enough good things about it! She knows her characters well, and with that is able to make sure their personality shines through. She chooses the best voice for each, gives them all the emotional draw and inflections so we can feel with them and gives a listen well worth the credit!

The Magic of Love!
This is a 2-book story made up of ‘A Male-Order Bride’ and ‘A Proposal So Magical’.
The first one is a new story about a young lady who, after the death of her father, is running the ranch, but she wants a Male-Order Husband so that it looks like he is running the show.
There is an older neighbor who wants to marry her so he can have more children but also so that he can get his hands on her ranch. She really does not want this to happen.
The second story is a follow-on from the first book in this series, ‘Hang Your Heart on Christmas’, and both stories in this book come together to tell us the outcomes of their romances.
These are very nicely written clean romances with menfolk who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in and to win their ladies hearts.
I enjoyed listening to the versatile voices of Meghan Kelly and the wonderful talent of both Heather Blanton, the author and Meghan Kelly make these stories really entertaining and enjoyable so I am happy to recommend them to you.
I requested and listened to a promotional copy of the audiobook which was supplied by the narrator and my voluntary review above is unbiased.
