When I started Tell Me Something I thought it was a little slow to start… but then it quickly became one of my favorites. Now with Ask Me Something I was beyond excited when I saw that it had been released! I loved the characters in Tell Me Something so it is great to get the stories on them too. As well as getting a little Josh and Haylee update. I cant wait to see who the next book is about! You get the hint in Tell Me Something that there could be something with Sasha and Brian….
Sasha B Fierce and Brian are just about the cutest! Brian has this idea that he wants to be with Sasha (has wanted to for YEARS) but they are just friends. Sasha is attracted to Brian also, but concerned about how it would look for her career since they work together. She feels that a relationship with him may look like she slept her way into her position. But Brian has a plan to get her to be his. It all starts with a “friends with benefits” kind of thing with some very specific rules. He gets to be in charge!
This is a great story showing how far a man will go to get the woman he wants, and how the man will often mess up. It also shows the evolution of Sasha to being a person that is completely career driven to realizing that you can still be independent when you are in a couple. You also get a good look at how the Fierce persona is a huge front and how she got to be that way. Its a touching story and it did make me cry in a few places.
Ask Me Something by Aubrey Bondurant is the second book in the three book “Something Series”. I thought the first book in the series delivered, but this one was even better. 5 stars and 3 hankies for me. While it IS a standalone with no cliffhanger, if you intend to read the series, I would read them in order to not have spoilers from previous books.
Brian Carpenter is Josh Singer’s best friend and a Regional Vice President for Josh’s Company, Gamble Advertising. He can charm the pants off of most women and has the absolute ability to put everyone he comes into contact with at ease.
Sasha Brooks has the nickname Sasha-B-Fierce for a reason. Her career has always been the most important thing to her and now that she has become a VP at Gamble Advertising, working for Brian, she works twice as hard to maintain the façade that she is the ice queen she portrays to the outside world. She has it all, including secrets that she keeps guarded to protect herself. I especially loved how she learned to become even stronger and how she was able to make her point, quick on her feet.
Sasha and Brian have worked together for 8 years and have become great friends and despite much flirtation, chemistry and a close call, they have never gotten together. One night where she believes Brian is with someone else changes everything. Can she tell him how she feels? They must both learn to trust each other and ask the right questions to maybe finally get what they want.
So many characters played pivotal parts in moving the story along. I loved how Sasha’s Dad used football metaphors to shore Sasha up. “Darlin’, you’re the quarterback in the red zone on fourth down with inches to go. Do you want the ball, or will you settle for the field goal?”
I spent so much time laughing, crying and swooning while reading this book. I absolutely could NOT put it down. Bring on Book 3!
Loved book 2 in the Something Series. Sasha and Brian have so much chemistry and have managed to put it aside for years to be friends. They work together and have some of the same friends and she isn’t sure he will even like her if he finds out her secret, her weakness.
I am a recent addition to the Aubrey Bondurant fan club but I am loving her more and more with each new read. She writes her characters with so much emotion. They are so real and flawed. Sasha B Fierce gave me some laughs and made me a little teary eyed too. I am so excited to jump into book 3.
I enjoyed this book. There are plenty of emotions, drama and baggage that must be dealt with along the way in this romance. I liked Sasha and Brian. I thought that Sasha was a very relatable character. Brian kind of drove me crazy. On one hand I felt that he was a really good guy but he was also very frustrating because he never seemed to learn from his mistakes. So he just kept making the same one again and again. Still I loved these two as a couple. The story held my attention easily and it kept me invested in this couple and their HEA.
Ok, so I loved book #1 in the Something series but I think I love Ask Me Something better! I loved it! Devoured it in one sitting. Sasha and Brian are amazing! Can’t wait to sink my teeth into book #3.
I so love this author’s writing! This is Brian & Sasha’s story – and what a perfect one it was. They were introduced in book 1 and I couldn’t wait to read more about them. I was quickly and easily pulled into the pages and never wanted to stop reading. This book gave me everything I love in a great story – humor, drama, sass, heart…and good lord the sexy scenes. I love all of the characters that are in this series – they are so damn lovable and they own piece of my heart. I highly recommend this!
*** 3.5 Stars ***
Ask Me Something (Something Series Book 2) by Aubrey Bondurant is a contemporary, erotic, friends-to-lovers, office romance. It follows the relationship between advertising VP, Sasha, and her boss and good friend, Brian.
Sasha and Brian have been friends for eight years. They’ve always flirted, but nothing ever came of it. But when Sasha sees a private text message to Brian from another woman, she becomes jealous and her feelings are revealed.
Brian and Sasha enter into a friends-with-benefits arrangement where he is in control of what happens in the bedroom. Eventually, what begins as sexual turns into much more. Will their secrets destroy what they’ve started?
I enjoyed this story. It was a bit heavier on the sex scenes than I prefer, but there was also a good solid plot with well-developed characters. Engaging, steamy, and mixed with humor, this book was better than the last.
Short review. I couldn’t to love reading Aubrey Bondurant’s Something series. This book is well crafted and very well-written love story that will have you craving more by the time you finish. Sasha and Brian have sizzling chemistry that never has you questioning for a second if these two belong together, from the first moment Brian shows up at Sasha’s apartment in the hopes of moving their eight-year-friendship beyond friends he never stopped surprising me. The book has a theme about perfection and how lonely it is to maintain the persona of perfection and how it keeps people who have problems/issues from sharing them with you believing that you don’t have problems or issues like they do. *Mini spoiler* I couldn’t stop reading over and over again the last chapters in which Brian and Sasha spill each and every flaw that have about themselves, it felt both really realistic and sweet at the same time. *End of spoiler*
