What a perfect ending to Patrick and Madelines story. This story is complicated, it goes back in time throughout the book and helps to put all the pieces together and to tie up so many loose ends. I am looking forward to getting more from this series/spinoffs.
An amazing finale! I love Patrick & the whole Sparrow gang. You couldn’t ask for a better ending. Aleatha, you’ve done it again!
5 Gripping Stars
This stunning conclusion to Patrick and Madeline’s story is at times gut wrenchingly painful, passionate, jaw dropping wide open in the revelations and sometimes all of these emotions at the very same time. Having said this, my review will be purposely vague because to say too much would risk revealing spoilers that you MUST experience yourself because to have things revealed out of context would literally ruin this book for you.
Ashes picks up where we left off in Flame and Madeline trying to understand what she’s just been told means in her life. But that’s not her utmost concern. Her immediate issue is trying to extract herself from the newest situation she’s in thanks to Andros Ivanof and let me tell you my jaw hit the floor when details are given. I was constantly startled by the actions of others and their basic indecency towards others in this world that we find ourselves immersed in with this Trilogy.
The strength and fortitude of Madeline throughout her life is truly awe-inspiring because with most people they would break with everything this woman has been through. One of the most overwhelming emotions in this book is love. Maddie’s love for Ruby, her love for Patrick, even when it’s well hidden and most importantly her love for herself.
When Madeline is brought into the Sparrow world so many truths and revelations come out of the woodwork. I mean to the point that I truly gasped out loud. The feeling of family and love that Madeline and Ruby come to have within this family unit, whether by love or choice, truly does some healing. And when we get flashbacks of what truly happened all those years ago, my heart was broken and my mind horrified. Ms. Romig does a phenomenal job of bringing this topic to the forefront of this story. There’s no mincing of words or actions.
The love Patrick has for Madeline has remained strong through the years and is evidenced in how her and Ruby’s presence in his and the Sparrow world changes almost overnight.
“Don’t stop, Patrick, please never stop. I never did. You’re mine, Maddie girl. You always were.”
He’s there for Maddie in ways that neither expected he would need to be, but it was so important to the progression of Madeline becoming who she was by the end of the book. But what I especially loved is how others brought her and Ruby into the fold.
This book moves at lightning speed which is completely necessary in this world they’re dealing with. There’s brutality in a few instances, and I for one, am perfectly okay with it because….karma!! I’m once again in awe of Sterling Sparrow and his command of the world he took over all those years ago and while he still controls Chicago, it’s in a gentlemanly manner using violence when it’s necessary and needed.
Patrick and Madeline forge this partnership that neither ever thought possible in their lives and the love they have for each other is the resounding emotion throughout this book and if you’ve read Aleatha Romig, you know love comes in many forms. This trilogy while may be tough to read is one that is a must read for all fans of Ms. Romig and romantic suspense in general. And she’s left us a few tidbits that has my brain spinning with what we’re going to be reading later this year!!
An absolute perfect ending for yet another amazing book!!
One again I couldn’t put this book down. when I absolutely had to because, you know adulting I would sneak in a sentence or two while doing whatever chores my family needed me to do (I fed them yesterday….I joke but man they constantly made me stop reading for food) don’t they know how amazing this book/series is?
They should since I was annoyed every time I heard mom (seriously, where is your dad, I’m reading here)
Get this book, get this series!!
Wow!! Spectacular ending to this trilogy!!! The heat, the chemistry between Madeline and Patrick is SCORCHING hot!!
Ashes is book #3, the final book, of the Web of Desire trilogy. It is a continuation series, so be sure to read Spark and Flame prior to reading Ashes!
This trilogy follows the story of Patrick and Madeline. Without going into too much detail, Patrick and Madeline met very young, fell in love, and then were ripped apart…only to find one another again after 17 years with many secrets hindering their happy reunion.
Ashes concludes their story. There isn’t much fighting action, but this story didn’t need it. It was still action-packed in it’s own right. Aleatha still kept you on your toes as to what was about to happen. She still kept you firmly entangled in the web she was weaving.
We learn so much more about Madeline and what has happened to her over the past 17 years…and for her to be the strong woman she is, is utterly remarkable.
Aleatha’s men are always forces to be reckoned with…they love so fiercely, so possessively, so protectively. Patrick was AMAZING!!! I loved Sterling, I loved Mason…but so far, I think Patrick is my top book boyfriend in this entire Sparrows Web world. He is pure perfection.
I absolutely love the entire Sparrows Web world…and seeing them in all the various series is amazing. I love seeing their interaction, their help with one another, their willingness to accept someone at nearly the drop of a hat (well…at least the women…we know Sterling takes a bit more to warm up to).
This entire trilogy is a solid 5 stars! Aleatha Romig always writes intriguing, hot, keep you on your toes stories, and this was definitely no different!
Ashes is the final book in the Web of Desire trilogy. This is such a well thought out, layered conclusion. There is a lot of detail about human trafficking and the impact it had on so many of the lives in this story. I loved that Ms. Roming lets Maddie breakdown after finally feeling safe enough to let go of the shield she has protected herself with throughout her life. It definitely felt real in reading it. Vengeance was taken by Patrick and the other Sparrow men on Maddie’s behalf as well as other victims of this horrific nightmare. This was a great wrap up of this trilogy and I can’t wait to read Reid’s story next.
How does she do it? This conclusion to the trilogy of stories starring Patrick and Maddie, ties up so many loose ends andcreates further richness and weight to the world of the Sparrow family, is full of incident, character development and further heartbreaking revelations about sweet, strong Maddie’s past.
Family and loyalty are central to these books, themes reinforced throughout the trilogy, underlining the bonds created between the brothers by choice and their expanding circle. I love spending time with these characters: their banter, their affection for each other, their courage. This was rewarded in spades throughout the whole trilogy and further reinforced by the honesty of the writing. Aleatha did not flinch from the harsh realities of the horrendous trafficking of humans and I salute her for that.
Again, I have definitely been Aleatha’d
Ashes, the dramatic conclusion to the Web of Desire series; it’s Patrick Kelly and Madeline’s story. A story of dangerous desires that have ignited a flame, once the fire is out, all that is left are the ashes to be picked up. The Sparrow Webs are interwoven that connect all four men and their women into an underground twisted, perverted, deranged life that no sane person could understand. Aleatha Romig has written several series, all interconnected on one of today’s hot topics regarding human sex trafficking. Aleatha’s style is to bring light within the dark, making it an easier read for most readers. Thanks for delivering another eye-opener. I have enjoyed reading all The Web Series and hope you’ll give it a go.
Have you been Aleatha’d?
Because this book was all I had hoped it would be that Aleatha could create. Patrick and Maddie’s story may be my favorite so far from this circle of friends. The story kept me so entertained that I couldn’t put the book down. The twists and turns that Aleatha put into this story just kept coming. It’s called the Web of Desire series because Aleatha has written quite the web. Patrick is still as alpha and dirty talking as ever along with his perfect book-worthy quotes. The character of Maddie was written wonderfully. She was strong yet vulernable. I’m thinking Ruby needs her own book 🙂

The surprises just keep on coming!
Patrick is going insane as he plans to save Maddie from Marion’s grip. This may be easy or it may go bad, but in the end, he must try and get his family together once and for all.
The past is never forgotten. For Maddie, she put away the past and just focused on surviving for the past 17 years. Now, as she wonders what the future will bring, all the memories of what she did to survive haunts her. All she can think of is making sure Ruby will survive this unscathed.
Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but for Patrick and company, revenge is the only way to ensure the past will not threaten their future. Never before did they ever imagine the darkness and monsters that surround them were as depraved as they were finding out.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
It was bitter and sweet with Ashes as this book is the final story for Maddie and Patrick.
Their journey toward happiness has too many tears and suffering, I think this couple is the most struck me to the heart from all Aleatha characters.
Maddie strength and survival is one to admire. She’s the survivor we wish from every sex trafficker victims.
And Patrick with Sparrows, he’s that Knight in black armour that we need to eradicate the evil who feels other sufferings are worth dollars.
I love the HEA. But the flash back from Maddie past? It was heart-breaking. I m just relieve Aleatha don’t do the whole thing in details cause my heart and tears and anger for Maddie might blown up.
85% of the book and I’m excited for the next page but also terrified cause the next page would bring me closer to the end.
Captivating, intriguing, sexy, heart-breaking yet powerful story, this series definitly one I want forget anytime soon
Have you been Aleatha’d?? The queen of dark continues her reign with Ashes, book #3 in the Web of Desire series. This is the epic conclusion to Patrick and Maddy’s story. And epic it is! Weaving a tale of twists and turns you won’t see coming, Ashes grabs you in its web and doesn’t let go. The writing is brilliant and the characters have so much depth I never wanted it to end. I loved it.
A sigh-worthy conclusion to this phenomenal series!
Web of Desire trilogy has been everything you expect in a Aleatha Romig book. Suspense , intrigue, murder and romance is just part of this incredible series. The intense emotions between Patrick and Madeline just flows from the pages, and the hot factor is off the charts!
OMG!!! How is it possible at the end of every new Aleatha series I’m saying it’s my new favorite? But seriously, this story! My heart! And I’m so excited there’s going to be more. I love this world of Sparrows!
This story! Holy smokes! My heart is in overload. I have to say, I have never teared up in any of Aleatha’s stories, but this one, it got to me. And more than once! The emotions are overwhelming and there are so many! So much happens! I just can’t contain my excitement over Patrick and Maddie’s story. It’s a story so raw and intense, a story of survival, of second chances, of hope, and so much love! It’s absolutely breathtaking! You do not want to miss this!
And that blurb for Reid and Lorna’s story….I. Can.Not.Wait!
Ashes is the conclusion of the Web of Desire series and is a profoundly moving book with a premise so heinous and yet so prevalent that exposure, albeit in a novel, of any kind will hopefully help to destroy those who enable it. This series, like all Aleatha Romig’s books, is extremely well written. The pace and the flow engages the readers attention from the first page and never stops. There are scenes that make you want to be sick, there are scenes that make your toes curl and above all there is an ending that will make you cry it is so moving.
Now that I’ve had a few hours to catch my breath because Aleatha totally left me breathless with the conclusion of Patrick’s story, Ashes.
There are some authors that cause me to lose myself in their stories, sometimes I think never to find myself again. Aleatha Romig is at the top of that list. There is never a moment I am not immersed in her words, in her characters, in her world.
If you’ve read my two previous reviews for Spark and Flame, you will understand why I have been impatiently patient while waiting on Ashes, and let me tell you that was the longest wait ever, but the reward was simply AMAZING!
Patrick and Madeline, two people that found each other, lost each other yet found each other again. That was simple. The hard part is fighting the forces that want to keep them apart. But the thing about fighting someone wanting to rip your family to shreds is you pull out all the stops. You avenge the forces attempting that task. You use what you have at hand. Your brothers. And there is not a brotherhood tighter than the Sparrows!
Murder, mayhem, lies, deception, survival, and truths are come to play in Ashes. There are things you thought you knew and later to discover you were all wrong. There are people that need to die . . . because of evil. There are empires that need to fall . . . because of greed. There are families that need reuniting . . . because of lies. There is love to be built . . . because of loss.
But in the midst of all the turmoil, there is love and passion. There is hope and joy. There is fun and humor. There is a HEA.
I literally did not want to put this book down. I hate to see this series end. I was messaging Aleatha while I was reading with gasps, OMG’s and WTF. Each time that happens I know I have been Aleatha’d!
Ashes was the perfect ending to Patrick, Maddie and Ruby’s story.
As always this author delivers yet another master piece of secrets, lies and plot twists. This conclusion was well worth the wait and I literally devoured every word.
Madeleine (Maddy) was such a formidable character and portrays the strength and endurance most mothers would go to protect their child from the ugly world we live in.
It was great to see a different side to Sterling and I absolutely love the camaraderie between the four ex soldiers of war as well as watching their close knit family expanding.
Can’t wait until the summer when we get to read the story of one missing piece of the family. Totally aleatha’d once again and love it!
The Web Of Desire Trilogy is FANTASTIC! Patrick and Maddie’s story is one of heartbreak, survival, and revenge. There’s plenty of ‘edge of your seat’ suspense as well as some truly shocking twists and turns! And of course there’s more Sterling Sparrow! I highly recommend this and all of the previous brilliant Web Series’.
Layers of intrigue, murder, lies and love make up Ashes, the conclusion to the Web of Desire series by Aleatha Romig. Patrick and Maddie’s story needed to be told and it is done in a way that will keep the reader enthralled with every chapter. Loving Patrick made me love Sterling even more because after all, Chicago is his kingdom. When you tango with the best, you are obviously going to go down and all that will remain are the ashes left to blow in the wind.
