Ashes is Book 3 in the Web of Desire Trilogy by Aleatha Romig. This is the final installment in Patrick and Maddie’s story.
Book 2 ended in a huge bombshell/cliffhanger ending. Book 3 picks up where book 2 left off. Book 3 is really more about handling the fallout from the past- the secrets, lies, intrigue and suspense that is Maddie past which is now Patrick’s present. Now that they are together and finding out what happened , this final book is just confessions, betrayal, guilt , fear, revenge, forgiveness, healing, hope, love and HEA.
Maddie and Patrick seek out the past to find the present/future. The chemistry between them is intense and amazing! I don’t want to give any spoilers away so just know that Ms. Romig did an awesome job on writing such a beautiful story that expresses the characters emotions, thoughts, beliefs and just everything they are going thru. It comes across and you feel like you are the character(s). Great writing! I enjoyed reading this and look forward to the next trilogy.
My Rating: 4.7 stars *********
Reviewed for A Wanton Book Lover BlogAleatha Romig
Ashes, is book 3 and the last book of the Web of Desire series. I am an avid Aleatha fan and Ashes was the perfect ending to the series. The end of Patrick’s and Maddie’s story was absolutely . Ashes superb and cleared-up a lot of lose ends but was still chalk-full of suspense and romance. I loved the fact that the reader finds out how both Maddie and Ruby begin to adjust to their new normal in Patrick and the rest of the Sparrow family. There was even a bit of humor; at lease my twisted mind though Sparrow delivered a good one-liner. The ending was phenomenal and we even get to see a bit of vulnerability from a stone cold character.
I can’t wait to read Reid’s and Lorna’s books.
Wow, what a great conclusion to the Web of Desire trilogy. We find out secrets and what Madeline went through from the time she was sold to when she was saved. She came out stronger, braver and an amazing mom to Ruby. It definitely helped that she had Patrick and his undying love for both of them. I’ve really enjoyed the whole Sparrow Web books and am looking forward to Reid and Lorna’s story in Dangerous Web trilogy.
The final book in Patrick and Madeline’s long time coming second chance at love story. The webs were woven in books one and two and now everything comes to a head in Ashes. So many loose ends to wrangle and tie up amidst the chaos, suspense, speculation and intrigue.
While Patrick and Madeline reunited, it’s anything but smooth sailing. Years of being exploited has left it’s mark on Madeline. Patrick intends to be the man at her side to help her through it as it surfaces. The one constant is their love for each other, will it be enough?
One thing Patrick’s story had that none of the other’s did, and what gave it just that little bit extra, was the addition of their teenage daughter. In a world where things could have gone terribly wrong for Ruby, the strength, determination and resilience of her mother, and an unlikely ally, was what protected the young miss.
I like the dynamic that the four men have created in their every day lives, in their home and in their families. Each and every one of them is a piece to the Sparrow puzzle and their world as they know it wouldn’t be the same without all of them.
I’m excited to see more from Reid and Lorna next!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Patrick has awakened a fire I forgot existed. will this renewed desire warm my soul or consume my world? Is it to late? Will the life we yearn to have survive the ashes?
This is the third book in the Web of Desire Series from Aleatha Romig. You need to read Spark and Flame before picking up this book and reading it. I don’t even know how to review it without giving something away. There are so many twist and turns and things that I never in my life saw coming. We are taken on the journey of Madeline reclaiming her life. Of facing her demons and Patrick right there with her every step of the way. This is an amazing ending to this series and I am so excited for the next set of books where we get Reid and Lorna’s story. It is going to be just as amazing as all the other books. I am so in love with so many of these Sparrow men that it isn’t even funny.

Aleatha Romig is one of my all time favorite authors!! Her trilogies are beyond amazing!! I don’t know where or how she keeps coming up with these dark and seedy worlds but as long as she does, she will always have a reader fan in me.
As always with Aleatha’s books, I can’t really say a whole lot about the storyline. I will say this was the perfect ending to this trilogy. I had no idea how this story would play out, but that’s what makes her books so captivating. Again this book was dark, raw, real, gritty and even tough to read at times. That is because the basis of Madeline’s storyline is not an easy one to read about.
What I love about Aleatha’s books the most is that she makes the reader feel everything her characters are feeling. She puts you right in the middle of the story, without leaving your own home. But she does it without being overly graphic. She lets your imagination work as well as to not make the readers too uncomfortable.
Ashes is the final book in this trilogy. It is NOT a standalone novel. You HAVE to read Spark and Flame before reading this book. This book/trilogy is everything I have come to expect when I pick up one of Aleatha’s books. She will make you feel all the “feels”. Her books are always page turners!!!
I will say that this book answers all of your questions that the first two books might have brought to mind. I thought this was the perfect ending for Madeline, Patrick and Ruby.
As I have said before, but it is worth repeating, the more books I read by Aleatha, the more I want to sing her praises. Her books just get better and more twisted as she releases them. She is an AMAZING storyteller. I don’t know where she comes up with these twisted worlds. But please don’t stop writing them!!!!
If you are looking for a book that will keep you intrigued all the way through and that is UNPUTDOWNABLE….then this is the book/trilogy for you to read!! This is another one for my Best Books of 2020 List!!!! Make sure to add this trilogy to your TBR list, you won’t be sorry!!!!
Wow! This book was everything I anticipated and more! Aleatha done a fabulous job with this trilogy conclusion. It’s a strong ending to an extraordinary series. It’s raw, intense, emotional and so much more. I couldn’t put it down. Their journey hasn’t been easy but with secrets revealed, revenge served and working together this crew get the justice they all deserve!
This trilogy has me speechless, not to mention there’s so much that happens, I am afraid to give spoilers. It’s also that most of my reviews, when it comes to dark romance, tend to be the same- the twists, the suspense, the heart break, keeping you on your toes, etc. This series is the first set of books I read by Aleatha and I am so thankful to be part of her ARC team. The writing, the story, the way she brings this whole twisted tale all together for an epic conclusion… I’m just in awe. Love Patrick. Love Maddie. I definitely have been Aleatha’d!
*ARC provided for my honest review. Thank you!*
The final book in Madeline’s and Patrick’s story, Ashes was awesome and fantastic. It was also haunting to truly relive what Madeline went through and was forced to do but with Patrick by her side she managed to get through it and move forward. This series was a fantastic read. As the saying goes, fasten your seat belts because you are in for the ride of your life. This series and final book was OMG!! If you have not read any of Aleatha’s series you are missing out. She truly is a master storyteller and she truly draws you into her web with all the twists and turns that keep you shocked and surprised. If I could I would give this series and final book 10 stars.BRAVO Aleatha!!! You have done it again.Your books make my day!!!
I absolutely loved this thrilling conclusion to this Web of Desire trilogy. Hooked from beginning to end as Patrick and Madeline’s story unfolded. The twists and turns as well as all secrets become truths will have you turning the pages. Definitely worth the read and highly recommend this series.
This book deserves so much more than just 5 stars!
The conclusion to this spectacular series is breathtaking.
There are still more secrets to be revealed.
More twists and turns that need unraveling.
And revenge on the horizon.
I absolutely loved Madeline.
She’s an incredible woman.
I loved her strength and her resolve.
I loved her maternal instincts to protect her unborn child.
And how that grow to incredible proportions.
It gave her the power and ability to endure the unendurable.
Maddie stood strong with each new shock that came her way.
She is a survivor of the worst thing that a human can suffer, plus more.
Patrick is also remarkable.
His loyalty and his unwavering support are what I love about him.
Even with a seventeen year separation Patrick is still 100 and ten percent committed to Maddie.
The love they have for each other is enviable.
It’s strong and unbreakable.
Nothing diminished it.
No one was able to destroy it.
Ms. Romig outdid herself not only in Ashes but in the whole Web of Desire series.
She wrote about an issue that breaks the body and mind and crushes the soul and did it with grace and class.
Yet delivered it in such a way to bring across the brutality and savagery of human trafficking.
It’s a subject matter that’s difficult but the author did it spectacularly!
Patrick and Maddie’s story is complex and intricate.
With many moving parts and varies people involved.
It’s a dark heartbreaking story.
But in the darkness of it the author always let a ray of light shine through.
She always kept the hope alive throughout.
Ms. Romig brought everything together beautifully and perfectly.
Oh oh and that epilogue was everything,I LOVED IT!
I highly highly recommend this series
Five absolutely brilliant stars!!! Wow, the conclusion to Patrick and Madeline’s story has left me utterly breathless. Aleatha’s books are so intricate and flow seamlessly. The Sparrow world is sexy, suspenseful and you get to know the characters on a deliciously intimate level. A must read!!!
Ashes is the epic conclusion to the Web of Desire trilogy where the ugly past is revealed, secrets are uncovered and the guilty are punished, but in the end true love trumps all!
Patrick and Madeleine’s story is a gripping tale that will keep you riveted to you seat from beginning to end because Aleatha Romig weaves an intricate web of tales like no other.
The many players are always in motion in this fast paced story and just when you think you have figured it out, everything takes a turn!
Grab your copy, sit back and enjoy this crazy ride within the world of Sparrow! You will be glad you did!
Madeline is a survivor. Patrick is her protector. Their story dealt with some heavy topics but there was also an abundance of love and even some laughter.
I can’t wait to see what is next for the men and women of Sparrow, specifically Reid and Lorna.
Thank you for another great series, Aleatha Romig.
This is the third and final book in this series and you must read Spark and Flame first so that you are caught up and to have a complete understanding of what has occurred along the way. Madeline’s and Patrick’s story has really been a intense and twisted journey. There have been so many jaw-dropping twists, heart breaking obstacles and even a few gut-wrenching tragedies for this pair to survive and try to overcome as they strive toward their hard earned happiness. In my opinion this book really delivered on all fronts as the final piece in this trilogy. It provided the answers we needed, revealed secrets we had been dying to become privy to and saw ample justice meted out to those that deserved it. I highly recommend this series to any reader that loves powerful emotions, complex characters, gripping drama, tension, nail-biting suspense, steamy passion and a love that can endure anything. Also, a taste for a rich cloak of darkness will serve you very well as you read through this compelling series. I am posting an independent, impartial review.
Ashes is the conclusion to Patrick and Maddie’s story and the Web of Desires trilogy. This story had me on the edge of my seat and was everything I could have hoped for when it came to Patrick and Maddie.
Patrick spent 17 years thinking his wife was dead, until she popped up randomly and back in his life. Now he is doing everything in his power to protect Maddie and Ruby and to keep them in his life forever. Maddie is strong. She has been through so much in the past 17 years, things she has to tell Patrick about, things that could change how everyone views her.
I love the entire Sparrow’s crew and the way the accepted Maddie and Ruby into their folds was great. The woman are all supportive of one another, they have seen and experienced things that most haven’t in their lives. Plus, they keep those men in line. I love the Sparrow Men, their friendship, the family they have formed. This group is fantastic and I never want to say goodbye to them.
Secrets are revealed. People are brought to justice. Patrick has his Maddie Girl again and no one will prevent him from keeping his family in his life forever and safe. Their story was stunning, emotional and suspenseful. It was everything I love about Aleatha’s books!
Ashes is a MUST READ, along with the rest of the trilogy.
Ashes is a MAGNIFICENT ending to this incomparable author’s most recent Web of Desire Trilogy. I have yet to read one of her books that my jaw doesn’t drop at some point in shear AWE at her writing ability. I LOVED this Series! Patrick and Madeline’s story was unique, captivating, action-packed, heart-breaking, steamy and satisfying…everything you crave when reading a great novel. The Sparrow Men are at their Alpha-BEST in Book 3. Not to be outdone, their women are just as intelligent, beautiful, strong and loving. I just want to be a part of the Sparrow Family! I could have read this book in one sitting, but I purposely did not. For me, Mrs. Romig’s books are best when handled like a fine wine and consumed slowly. I love to savor every word, sentence, paragraph and chapter that she writes. Of course, I want to consume it all at once, but inevitably I will miss something, so I force myself to read slower and immerse myself in her writing magic. I’m always rewarded with the feeling that I’ve been there inside the story with all her amazing characters watching as they come alive in my head. That’s my favorite thing about reading and why this author is one of my all-time favorites! If you love to read, grab this book, series, or any of her books and get Aleatha’d!
The Web of Desire trilogy concluded splendidly with Ashes and I’d lost myself in this suspenseful and captivating tale. In the chaos of betrayals, deceptions and manipulations, truth was reveal, vengeance was sought and hope was in the horizon.
My heart ached as Maddie continued to retell her horrific experience and the sacrifice she had to make because of survival and her love for her daughter. There was so much love and passion between and Patrick. He was truly a good man who stood compassionately by her side every step of the way on her road to rediscover herself. I couldn’t ask for a better epilogue because they both desperately deserved all the happiness after what they had to endure.
There were so much going on in the story and every character somehow had a role in this intricate web. The author expertly led us around all the twists and tangles in a perfect pace to uncover the truth. I want to applaud the author’s courage to tackle a real but often hidden problem round human trafficking. It was handled with care and I was inspired to learn more about what I can do to help.
Overall, I absolutely love this suspenseful and captivating trilogy and would recommended it to anyone who love a dark romance that is full of surprises and will keep you guessing the entire time.
Have you been Aleatha’d?
Note: ASHES is book three of the WEB OF DESIRE trilogy that began in SPARK and continued in FLAME.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
What a stunning conclusion. Patrick and Maddie’s story (Web of Desire Series) is one for the book. The storyline and characters kept me engrossed. The plotline flowed well through every chapter.
Madeline is one of the bravest characters I read from this author. What she has gone thru is really terrible for a young woman to experience but that’s the reason why she became resilient as a person. Her POV switches between the past and the present.
Patrick continues to prove that he will do anything for Madeline. He hunts down those people who treated Maddie badly. I’m glad he has Sterling, Reid, and Mason on his side. These men get the job done.
Ashes is an amazing book. Ms, Romig did a fantastic character development and weaves a very complex story where she leaves nothing unanswered. This surpasses typical dark/romantic suspense novels; it held my interest from beginning to end. So, if you are looking for a beautiful, thoughtful piece of fiction, I would highly recommend this series.
Every time I read Aleatha’s book, I am always transported into a world where I would never in my wildest dream imagine myself to be in. I am in awe of her vivid portrayal of characters and events and the ability to twist the story that has me gasping. Call me biased, but she just gets better and better. I love how the story ended where Maddie, our ravaged heroine gets her redemption and HEA against all odds.
