He was the mistake I never forgot. Now my life depends on him.
As soon as the death threats started, my manager called in the best bodyguards in the business. There was just one problem: I’d already met the man assigned to protect me and I’d spent the last few years trying my damnedest to forget him.
But you never forget a man like Ash Devereaux.
Now we’re hiding out deep in the Oregon … we’re hiding out deep in the Oregon woods, and while I know should be terrified, I’ve never felt more alive … and never more so than when I’m on my knees for Ash, begging for the things only he can give me.
It’s not just my life that’s in danger—my heart is on the line, too. Can I trust Ash to protect them both, or will our passion burn us both to the ground?

Just WOW, what an exciting and emotion journey the author will take you on with Ashes to Ashes. The book is very well written and with characters you will come to love (and maybe want to bop their heads together on occasions). They will tear your heart out with their inner struggles yet have you smiling and wishing for a HEA on occasions when things go right.
Our heroine, country singer Rae Griffin, hits rock bottom with her husband divorces her and starts spreading horrendous lies. Due to a Pre-Nup, Rae is helpless to defend herself so she starts to spiral out of control. But when she finally get her head on straight and decides to tour again, she starts to get death threats. Is it her someone in her ex’s camp? Did she wrong someone during her drunken downward spiral? Is it an irate fan?
As things escalate her manager hires her a bodyguard. When the bodyguard arrives, it’s none other than Ash Devereaux, the one night stand that she never knew his name and she never forgot. Ash was also shocked. After searching for her for months and finally giving up, here she is 2 years later standing in front of him. Both are broken souls. Ash is hiding secrets he’s never told another living soul but one thing he knows is he’s good at his job and past or no past he would keep Rae safe.
When these two get together it’s explosive (and not always in a good way either). The banter, the push and pull, the desires versus the right thing to do, what’s right and what’s wrong: these two go through it all while at the same time trying to find peace with their own inner struggles and stay one step ahead of a killer. This is an excellent read that will have you on the edge one minute and smiling the next. I HIGHLY Recommend reading Ashes to Ashes, you won’t be sorry you did. 2 Thumbs Up.
This is not my first book by this author and I do love her work so I was excited to jump into this straight away. It did not disappoint, it was such a fantastic an amazing story. It melted my heart and as soon as I began reading I got lost in the story and the characters. This reminded me of why I love her writing.
The story feels very fast paced although this time that is not a bad thing! A lot of time passes in the novel so it’s not like all their relationship happened within a week, it was spread out and it was one of the major things I enjoyed. It actually did feel like time passed in this novel.
I loved Rae’s character, she had a pretty ugly background in a sense, but we see her in the dark place and in a much better place some years later. I really liked enjoying the fact that we did see her in her dark place and in a good place still trying to deal with her past. I loved that in her character. She was a very honest person and yet at the same time she was still being controlled by her ex-husband when she finally decides to tell him to shove it. I really like that we see all the sides and emotions of her, I also loved at times when she gave control to Ash in the bedroom. I’ll get onto that later.
I fell in love with Ash immediately, his dark quiet demonour and I liked it when he did open up, I did chuckle when Ash and Rae met for the 2nd time it was quite funny. You’ll see if you read this book. I really liked his backstory and it was a very interesting backstory as well as like all males seem to blame themselves for shit they have no control over. It was a really good backstory and I did enjoy reading it! I also loved the connection that Ash and Rae had with each other and there was a point in the book where I had to take a break because it was so emotional.
There were quite a few sex scenes in this that didn’t bother me, they were very well written. There is also elements of control and a little kinkiness. Ash ties her up sometimes during the sex and he takes control of her during the sex, but afterwards, he is a total sweetheart and caring. I felt like the sex scenes didn’t take away from the actual content in this book which is also good.
Her ex-husband is an asshole that is the first thing, not even a few chapters in the more I heard about him the more I wanted him to get hit by a bus. There is one thing I wished I knew and that is what has happened with the ex-husband and what happened when he saw the interview Rae made, I’d just love to see his reaction I bet it would be hilarious!
Such great writing, Rebecca Norinne does not disappoint and I am so lucky I got an arc of her books because since reading Trying Sophie I have become addicted to this author and she does not disappoint!
This was such an unbelievable story! I absolutely loved it. Ash and Rae are real characters. full of history and emotion and flaws. They really are two broken halves of the same whole.
No denying they are both broken, Rae with a cheating bastard husband who with his outrageous lies turns her into a whore and drunk.
Ash with his indiscretions with his brother’s wife.
One night stand and 2 years later Ash turns up as Rae’s bodyguard.
Things I liked Rae and Ash are great together, lots of hot sex, great attraction, and chemistry.
Things I didn’t like the ole double standard, Ash’s cousin calling Rae a whore for sleeping around and drinking with her marriage break up even though he does exactly the same thing.
All in all, not a bad read.
Rebecca Norinne held nothing back when it came to Rae and second chances. Like any heartbreaks it can either kills us or make us stronger. Then we have Ash who thought he was in love once is seeing that with Rae he can have more than love if he opens his eyes. Rebecca Norinne did a beautiful job in showing these two that life is about risks and going outside their comfort zones for endless possibilities. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
When it is so wrong it’s right…
A steamy read as Rae and Ash find a love that saves them both. This was a great book to escape & let Rae’s life take over. This isn’t a second chance romance, but rather a second chance at a real relationship from a one night stand neither ever forgot. It is a do-over from what you wished you have happened!
Ashes to Ashes by Rebecca Norinne tells the story of Rae Griffin, the country darling who is making a comeback. She fought her demons and is now ready to move forward. But when her life is threatened, the man hired to protect her is the same one-night stand she never forgot.
I loved how strong Rae was. She hit rock bottom but lifted herself up. She was determined to move forward and put her past behind her. Ash had his own demons as well. He was strong, protective and a total alpha. He wanted to protect Rae, but could he truly let her in? The attraction they felt was strong and intense. But can these troubled souls find a way to each other?
I really enjoyed reading Ashes to Ashes by Rebecca Norinne. Rae and Ash had great chemistry and were good together, they just had to find their way. Add in some suspense and you get a story that will grip you from start to finish.
