What happens when the very men—trained to make the hard decisions—come up against the rules and regulations that hold them back from doing what needs to be done? They either stay and work within the constraints given to them or they walk away. Only now, for a select few, they have another option:

Well this book was interesting to say the least. If you like running all over China for missing 30 year old twins who are autistic. Asher was assigned to go over and find them and meet up with Ryker and his plus one, who was Mickie and old lover. Things was a tangle of different people involed and dead bodies popping up everywhere. Hard to keep track of everyone. Lots of danger, high speed chases and dead bodies. Oh steam at the end. HEA.

This was a fast-paced book. Asher is the lead on this missing persons case. Two autistic twin former models were kidnapped in China. Asher will be working with Ryker and a “plus one”. The “plus one” turns out to be his former ex-fiancee from 10 years ago, Mickie. Mickie is a nurse and has been working with the twins for the past 6 months.
The book was well written and in my favorite dual POV format. There was a lot of mystery, murder and intrigue here. The spark between Asher and Mickie was slow to come into the story and reveal itself.
The bedroom scene was highly glossed over but based on that, I can only recommend this to someone over the age of 18. Even though this is the fifth book of the series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.
Great Characters and Storyline
What a page turner! The characters: Autistic adult twin daughters wanting only to be at home in their garden, their highly-sought-after wedding planner mother, their nurse had been in a serious relationship with Asher ten years ago. On a trip to China, the twins are kidnapped and the nurse is drugged and left bound and unconscious in the hotel. And who cannot imagine how thrilled the Chinese government was when Asher and Ryker arrived to investigate the kidnapping and follow the leads to identify and catch the kidnappers and rescue the twins. Love Dale Mayer!
Asher by Dale Mayer
Mavericks Series Book Five
Asher Tromblay has been called out to head is own mission. He’d meet up with Ryker in Shanghai…and one other person. Like a ghost from his past, Mickey would be on his team. Apparently, she was taking care of the special needs adult twins that had been kidnapped. His mission just became a bit tougher.
Michaella “Mickey” Hunker was worried about her thirty-year-old charges. One was diabetic, the other had health issues too. She had to be with when they were found so she could calm them down. Help them with their medical needs. Even if it meant spending time with Asher.
Their suspect list keeps changing. The dead bodies keep piling up. And then…about the time they figure out who is behind the kidnapping…they could be in deeper trouble than they thought. I’m really enjoying the Mavericks series. Great characters and page-turning stories.

I loved this book and thought it was a great way to kick-off this new series. This brother’s best friend romance had no trouble at all in capturing and holding my attention. Aiden and Zoe were wonderful characters. They were exceptionally likable and easy to connect with and root for. You had to really feel for both of these characters as impulsive decisions, misunderstandings, embarrassment and hurt feelings cause lots of complications on the road to a HEA. You can expect plenty of heartfelt emotions, small town charm, steamy heat, tension, humor and drama you read this swoon worthy romance.

This is the fifth book in Dale Mayer’s ingenious military romance series, The Mavericks. “ The Mavericks” is a covert black ops group that has the same goals as the SEALs. The only difference is that they do not have to work under any constraints of rules and regulations.
Each agent works alone with only one assistant to help him. In this book Asher is the agent and Ryker is his assistant. Their mission: rescue two autistic 30 year old twins who have been kidnapped in mainland China. The kidnappers are asking for huge ransom.
When Asher and Ryker arrive to begin their search, Asher discovers that their “plus one” is Mickie, Asher’s former fiancé. Mickie was hired six months ago to look after the twins and was with them when they were kidnapped. She had been knocked unconscious and drugged while the kidnapper left with the twins.
As is true of all of Ms. Mayer’s books, this author delivers an exciting story with a complex plot. In fact, Ms. Mayer takes her readers on the roller coaster ride of their life. The clues are many, but most of them lead us in the wrong direction.
The characters also have great depth and lots of emotion. Asher is bitter about his breakup with Mickie. Meanwhile, Mickie still loves Asher, yet realizes that she has totally ruined their relationship. In spite of this, the two of them are able to work together to locate the twins before they end up dead.
This is an exciting page-turner that is impossible to willingly put the book down.
I really liked how I was kept guessing as to her was behind the kidnapping and I tell you a changed my mind a few times. Adding Mickey into the mix while Asher and Ryker try and work the case meant some frighting times, good laughs and worry from everyone as well as tension in regards to trying to track the twins and between Asher and Mickey due to their past (talk about awkward!). A great second chance, action and adventure read with hot SEALs and kick ass women you can’t go wrong!

I loved this book! It was one of those that grab your attention from the first page! The story line was like riding on a rollercoaster. You thought you knew what was coming and then all the sudden you get hit with another surprise twist and turn! I love this series and look forward to the the next book! If you like romance and suspense and action, this is the book for you!

Asher gets his first assignment and wouldn’t you know it, there is not one but two helpers and he knows the third one a bit too well. He is not amused. Not Mickey, come on fate could not be that mean? Yes, of course, it is as she is the nurse to the missing twins. Twins with beauty and health issues. The body count is mounting and it is beginning to look like Asher and his team might be in over their heads.
You will need to read the book to find out what happened. There was a lot but I refuse to do a review that will spoil the book.
When Asher gets his assignment to find two kidnapped twins, he’s also informed that their nanny Mickie will be joining as well. Problem is, she’s his ex fiancée from ten years ago and she broke it off with him and now they have to work together to bring the twins home safely. As the race is on to find them, their past comes up as well and they need to mend their past before they can move forward and find the twins before it’s too late.
A great read with suspense, some action, some twists and a bit of steam. I liked Asher a lot but I had to get used to Mickie as she still seemed like the insecure girl from years ago. I liked the flow of this read, it was fluent and kept me turning the pages and I also liked the no OW drama.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
This book keeps you turning the pages with all the suspense and twists. As soon as you think you have it figured out something else happens. Love this series.
Power, sex, money ? 2 twin women, world class models and autistic, were kidnapped. Their personal nurse was drugged and left behind. A woman Asher had history with. This is a page turner as there are many twists and turns as questions and suspects keep piling up. Bravo!

Asher is up next, and he brings us to China, to rescue Autistic Twins Their Mom asked the Mavericks for assistance finding them. She thought they were taken in regards to her Wedding Planning business, but things were much more dark and sinister. Mickey the girls nanny was injured in the capture and left to her own devices for the most part. Until Asher arrives, and things get tricky, because these two have history. As they worked together to find the twins, they also found out things, about what happened with their relationship. As usual, a lot of action and bad guys and mystery! Another Great Story!
Yes definitely another favorite from Dale Mayer, this one is full package, there’s actions, mystery, suspense and second chance romance. Great story with wonderful loveable characters. Once I start I just can’t stop. So many suspects, so many questions, add bittersweet reunion and that sweet old love that rekindle the sparks, yup this book is a perfect and a must-read for a suspense romance lovers.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is the 5th book in The Mavericks series, it can be read as a standalone story but the whole series is awesome so read them anyway. The storyline is fast-paced and well-written, the plot is packed with action and intrigue. Asher is sent on a mission and his ex, Mickey is right in the middle of the drama. They have a past that neither has gotten over, can they make it through the kidnapping drama in China to get a HEA?
Another exciting book in this series. Men and women on missions to solve a mystery or rescue a victim. Each story stands alone but intertwines, you’ll want to read them all to see where this series is going. Towards the end my head was spinning trying to work out who the bad guys were in this plot. The author tied up the loose ends flawlessly.
Great book, I loved it.
This is a great series in which ex-SEALS are working for a new covert ops team with more leeway on how to get the job done. Asher gets his turn to lead a mission in which two autistic adults have been kidnapped while in China. The kicker is that their “nanny” is a woman who he used to be engaged to.
The story takes the team down many roads while trying to discover who has kidnapped the twins and where they are being held. In addition, old feelings come back up between Asher and Mickey.
For some reason, I had a hard connecting with Mickey. But this was still an enjoyable story with many twists and turns until the very end.
Fantastic!
This exciting story has you traveling to China and Switzerland, how fun is that? Except, there are autistic adult twins that have been kidnaped and a huge ransom has been demanded from their mother who is a famous wedding planner. Mickey, the twins’ nurse, was also drugged when the young women were taken. A frantic hunt has begun to find the two sisters before health conditions put their lives in more danger.
Asher finds himself working with this new “security” firm and his first lone assignment is to get to China to meet up with his partner, Ryker, and together, they will meet their contact, the nurse for the twins, Mickey, who just happens to be Asher’s ex-girlfriend.
What an adventure these three are on! The incredibly wealthy mother will spare no expense to have her daughters back home safe and sound. She is depending on the Mavericks team to find her girls before anything happens to them. Asher and Ryker will use the hard core intelligence and many other resources the Mavericks supply for this needle in a haystack search throughout Asia for these two identical young women.
This story is full of twists and turns with unexpected lies, secrets and danger when the bodies start piling up. What makes it all the more exciting is Mickey and Asher were a “thing” about 10 years ago and Mickey walked away from him afraid she wasn’t good enough. Asher is still stinging from the ease in which Mickey threw away their relationship. It is obvious that they both are still attracted to each other but they have to put that aside as they search for the twins in a hostile environment where they can’t trust anyone.
I love this story! Many puzzle pieces needing sorted out and put together makes this an intriguing and suspenseful journey!
Like his Mavericks brothers before him, Asher completed his first mission as backup to Beau and now he is leading his own operation. Former SEAL and buddy Ryker is on board for backup. The surprise is the plus-one who is Asher’s ex fiance from ten years ago, Mickey.
At stake are the lives of kidnapped beautiful twin sisters who are also Autistic. They should be safely ensconced in their peaceful home, but some twisted person (or persons) is using the twins to gain wealth and power.
Once again the Mavericks home team is on electronic standby to provide information, supplies and more backup. Still, running an op in China can get very sticky.
Asher, Book 5 of The Mavericks, is another non-stop page turner full of great characters, suspense, action and heart warming love.
