★ A TOP 35 AMAZON BEST SELLER! ★I should have died.I should have been forgotten. But I didn’t, and I wasn’t.Living the life most women only dream about, I was madly in love with my soulmate–Asher Valentine–amazing husband, loving father, and rock’s favorite frontman. A man who loved me every day, in every way, since we first met as teens. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter who was the … teens. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter who was the light of our life. My all-female rock band was tearing up the charts.
Then tragedy struck, and I lost it all.
Now, after waking from an eight-year coma, all I have is a stack of journals, an antique key, and a big black void where my memories should be.
Used to be.
And I have him–this man with wild hair, tattoos from head to toe, a soft voice, and an even softer touch that gives me butterflies. He’s clearly hopelessly in love with his wife.
I’m told that’s me.
But that wife is gone, and she took everything they once had, leaving me in her place.
A broken replacement. A new version that doesn’t quite fit.
I’m slowly falling in love with him, but will he ever truly love me? Or will he forever be in love with her, the phantom woman who haunts us both?

So patiently waited for this story and was so not disappointed… this has to be hands down the most, emotional, loving, scary but hopelessly romantic stories I have ever read. Imagine waking up after eight years in a coma, not remembering anyone or anything about your life… this was a story of hope and learning to love and live again. A must read, this series just keeps getting better with every new story!
I wasn’t sure what I was in for with Ashers story and I’m not going to lie I was extremely anxious starting it. I knew it was going to be heart wrenching and I knew I was going to have to pull my big girl pants up and hang on for the ride even if I didn’t feel ready to.
I’m keeping this review fairly short and sweet. I really don’t want to give details away because let’s be honest we’ve all been waiting what feels like forever for this book (patience is not one of my strengths, I think a week is a long time to wait) and I know I’d be p’d off if I saw a spoiler before I’d read it so….
Asher is everything you think he’s going to be, I could not love that man more if I tried. The strength that guy shows absolutely amazed me. So often people give up when things get tough and I loved that Asher never wavered. He’s loyal and determined, and giving up just isn’t on his radar. When he married he married for life and honestly, is there anything more attractive in a man? (No, no there isn’t).
This is a really emotional story. It didn’t make me cry but it made my heart ache. There’s times it hurts to read and that is a testament to Ms Coles talent. It’s obvious she’s put everything she’s got into this story, it really does show. I’m a huge fan of her other books but with this one she’s gone to another level. Prepare to feel every single thing the characters feel and get ready to ignore your family and everything else around you while you get lost in Ashers story. Once you pick it up there’s no putting it down. I loved this book and can’t recommend it enough.
Five Breathtaking Emotional Stars
There are some writers that you simply pause life for. You shut out the world, find a quiet place and you give yourself over the world they have invited you to. No questions asked. Carian Cole is that author for me. After all, she’s the girl who made me fall in love with long-haired, tattooed, rock stars.
I have loved the Ashes and Embers series and each book has its own perfect place in this journey. Carian has had us all dying to know the secrets behind Asher for years and now, she has revealed his ultimate role. He is the heart.
Asher is the ultimate love story. It is packed with emotion from page one. I felt every word of this book. I’m talking I felt it in my bones, had to put the book down, walk away, take a breath, gather my emotions, eat some s’mores ice cream, and let my heart start beating again felt this book. I felt every emotion at the same time. I was a mess. The kind of mess where you look up from reading and expect the world to be turned upside down because your world is tilted off its axis mess. It was perfection. That’s because Carian knows her characters so well that she is able to pull everything out of them and lay all of their honest truths right there on the table for us to see.
Asher and Ember’s love story is so unique. Their obstacles will make you hurt, make you hope, make you question what you feel from one moment to the next because you feel everything they feel. You can tell the author puts her heart into every word of this story. As always, she takes the time to tell the best story she can and it pays off in spades.
If you’ve waited tor Asher, you won’t be disappointed. Just take the ride, feel the feels and know when you read the last page you’re going to want to go right back to book one and read them all over again just to stay in the world a little bit longer.
WOW!
I am at a loss for words right now. If you follow the works of Carian Cole, you should definitely do that if you haven’t already, you know that this book was a long time coming. I am pleased to say it was surely worth the wait.
Asher and Ember were teenage sweethearts who had it all, and just in a moment, everything changed. This story is about the power of love, a connection that runs deeper than words, and two souls who are destined for forever. I laughed and cried, ok mostly cried. What an emotional roller coaster. I felt both Asher’s and Ember’s sides of the story and what a journey it was.
Although I loved all the previous books, this is my favorite one by this author and I highly recommend the whole Ashes and Embers series.
Thank you Carian Cole for making Asher Valentine the most swoon worthy hero ever. If only we all could have a love like this.
I am in awe of how your brought this magnificent love story to life.
Also love all the rescue animals that appear in the books; I’m a huge animal lover myself.
Thank you!
Overall Rating – .5
First up, where can I find me an a Asher! Major swoon alert!
“Sometimes things have to hurt before they get better”
We know from previous books in the series that Asher’s wife is in a coma of sorts and this book finally gives us the story. Ember has been in this coma for 8 years when she wakes up. This is a standalone and the other books in the series don’t need to be read to enjoy this.
Throughout the 8 years, Asher has always been by her side praying for her recovery. This is a real emotional book and I felt it in my heart all while reading.
The stand out character for me was Asher. He never gave up, was completely loyal and always prayed she would come back to him and when she did it was hard to read at times and I often questioned myself what I would do in the situation and it broke my heart. You could still tell there was deep routed unconditional love and the fight from both of them to get back there was real.
Ember, not only lost 8 years of her life in a coma, she lost all her life, not remembering any of her past. I couldn’t imagine wakening to discover I had no memories then be told I was married, had a successful career and had a kid. Something like that would be hard to understand and I completely got her struggles, trying to fit into the ghost of the person before her, the one everyone remembers, except her, all while she was becoming a different person and although I didn’t really like the changes she made, I understood her need to become who she now was.
“I haven’t been very nice to him. Maybe because I woke up to a man who’s physically married to me but mentally married to someone else, and I don’t feel married to anyone at all”
This is a story of true love with their love being one of a kind and being told in dual perspective give us the opportunity to feel the pain and struggles each of them went through. The story is deep, emotional, very well researched and beautifully written. A must-read.

While reading this, Cole throws in a couple of very interesting characters, both whom I want to read so bad and I can’t wait for news on them!

AMAZING!!!
Where to start because it’s always hard when you find that book that touched you in so many different ways. There were so many extraordinary events in Asher and Ember’s life’s that took me on that rollercoaster ride of emotions. In my opinion there is no one like Ms. Cole who knows how to make me feel so connected to her characters that you feel like a voyeur in their lives.
Asher and Ember’s love was something many can only dream of…especially with a very talented, dream worthy rock star. I could go on and on but trust me; you don’t want to miss this book!!! I highly recommend Asher!!
OMG, this book has to be the most romantic story ever written! The whole concept is one that is very tricky but it was handled smoothly and realistically. An epic journey everyone should read about now.
Asher, oh damn is he gorgeous, not just physically but in every way. He melts your heart with how wonderful he is yet he does show his vulnerability at times, which surprisingly is reassuring. Having gradually gotten to know a bit about him through the other books in the series you realize when reading this book that you really knew nothing much at all. For such a pivotal character that was a clever thing for this author to achieve.
Ember is an entirely different character in many, many ways. Her soft, sweet nature is adorable. I loved her honesty as well, at times it had me cracking up. Then there were plenty of other times when my heart just about broke for her and what she was going through, as well as Asher.
I am a little lost for words at how fantastic this book is from the sensational descriptions of the emotional ride you experience as you read. There is a terrific balance between light and heavy which elevates you just when you need it.
The butterfly analogy is absolutely perfect. Argh, this author is brilliant, she is a total wordsmith who is magical, sign me up for more spells please!

FEEL IT!! THE LOVE ..I FEEL IT!
Oh, the feels! Asher and Ember have a soul-deep love. Throughout this series, I always sensed the passionate connection between Asher and Ember and not even a tragic accident, memory loss, heartbreak, or finding yourself can dim their love. Asher and Ember ‘s HAE is emotional and gritty. A beautifully written love story. I love it!! OMG, SO WORTH THE WAIT!
“All I can do is hope it’s a sign that the heart always knows where its home is, no matter what.”
This is the story readers have needed …absolutely everything one could ever want to read is tied up beautifully in the many glorious pages that make up “Asher”. It’s a story of great hope, unwavering faith, complete and total devotion, deep passion. It’s a story of growth and change, of healing and rekindling. Quite simply, it’s a most epic story of love.
“I only ever, always, want it to be you.”
Having come to *know* Asher and Ember through the incredible world that Miss Carian Cole has created and the many journeys she takes you on, I was definitely not disappointed with this story of the pair finally getting their own happily ever after. Though there were many tears, both happy and sad, and moments of wanting to throw my device across the room when the feelings of heartbreak and frustration became nearly too much, I completely devoured this book, flipping page after page until the minutes turned to hours and before I knew it, I’d reached the last place I wanted to be – “the end.”
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel everything.
Asher! The name that caused uncontrollable swooning and beat out all other heroes when it comes to devotion and faithfulness.
I’ve waited for this installment in the series for what feels like years. I’ve devoured all the other books in the Ashes & Embers series and have enjoyed them all. I’ve been dying to learn more about Asher Valentine and his love story with Ember.
To say this one is different would be an understatement.
You see, Asher and Ember had the greatest love story; young love, a daughter and their wildly successful music careers. They had it all, but it all was taken away in an instant.
Ember was in a horrible accident and remained in a coma for nearly eight years. Asher never gave up hope despite what doctors and the facts would have him believe.
By what is nothing short of a miracle, Ember finally wakes up after a new medication works. Sadly, she doesn’t recall anything from her life’s before the accident.
It’s a very long, exhausting and heartbreakingly painful road for her physical and mental recovery. This was hard to read at times. Though the situation was in no way relatable; the author makes you feel like it is. My soul ached for them both and the hardships they had to endure. But it also took us on a journey of love, devotion and hope. To get to join them on this twisty road to their light at the end of the tunnel, it was such a beautiful thing to experience.
I love this author’s style of writing and storytelling. I look forward to every new release and would and would happily recommend “Asher” and every one of her books! Don’t miss out!
If you have been reading or following Carian for awhile you have been patiently waiting for this book for a hot minute. It was worth the wait. Absolutely 100% worth the wait. To be hones I am kind of speechless and not sure how to properly wrap my feelings up into a review to give this book any kind of credit it deserves. I knew that this book was going to be extremely emotional because you could feel Asher’s pain in her previous books and now it will be front and center. Asher’s absolute and utter devotion to Ember is unlike any other. So while you felt utter heartbreak for him you were also falling further in love with him throughout the entire book. Then we had Ember’s side of the story and that was emotional on a whole other level. Watching her struggle to learn who she was before and now was raw, gut wrenching and beautiful. My heart soared for Ember when she decided to start living her second life. My heart hurt for both of them so much for completely different reasons. So while this was a emotional read, it was a beautiful story of an undying, unconditional love trying to make their way to forever after an unthinkable tragedy. I am not sure I have seen a slow burn written as well and as a beautiful as this one. Carian has out done herself with this book.
This story has been a long time coming, and it did not disappoint. It’s poignant, heartfelt, and an amazing story of healing & everlasting love.
Asher & Ember have been through the WRINGER, and we’ve seen bits & pieces of their story throughout the series. We’ve felt the effects & heartache Ember’s accident has had on the family, especially Ash, Kenzi & Toren. I loved seeing so much interaction between those four as much as the core of Ash & Em.
They had a tough road to their HEA, but it was worth it, and so beautifully told! 10+++ stars!!
Also – the introduction of a couple of intriguing characters for future stories… Looking forward to those!
: )
Asher was an emotional ride, which we knew it would be because of Ember! Asher has got to be the ultimate book boyfriend ever! And Ember’s strength and perseverance are amazing! This book had all the feels and all the depth that every book by this author always has! Asher is a MUST READ!
I wish I could give Asher more than 5 stars because honestly, the man deserves way more than just 5 stars! This book was so worth the wait and is by far the best one in this series! We find out exactly what happened to Ember and how she was feeling the day of her accident. For years Asher lived with fear and guilt wanting only for his love to wake up and when that day finally comes it’s nothing like Asher dreamt it would be. Ember can’t remember anything or anyone, and every day that she can’t remember is another day that Asher dies a little more on the inside. I just wanted to hold Asher and let him come undone and try to piece him back together again this poor beautiful man was so broken and in so much pain I wanted to make it all go away for him. This book pulled on all your heartstrings and had you on the edge of your seat. It was a beautifully written great job, Carian Cole!
Asher is a force to be reckoned with the way he loves his wife Ember. The couple have it all, a successful band, beautiful daughter and a loving marriage. An accident changes their lives forever. Ember ends up in a coma for eight years. Asher never gave up and stayed true to her. Ember finally wakes up but she doesn’t remember anything about this beautiful man that is her husband or her daughter. She doesn’t know if she can compete with the wife that Asher loves so much. Asher is determined to show Ember that they can still be happy and he can’t be without her. A truly heartbreaking story with so much beauty. A thousand times worth the wait!
Asher and Ember’s slow burning and epic love story is all I hoped for and more. Evoking the strongest emotions and leaving me with the best kind of book hangover, this unforgettable story is forever stamped on my heart. Five stars for Carian Cole who comes full circle with her best work yet.
Asher is the sixth book in the Embers & Ashes series by Carian Cole but each book can be read as standalone. It is recommended to read Torn (All Torn Up series) before this one to get even more background on who these characters are.
Get ready to be taken on an emotional roller coaster! This book will have you feeling ALL of the feels and then some. My heart broke for what Asher and Ember had to go through and I was hooked and unable to put it down because I had to know how things were going to work out for them.
This book has wonderful writing, amazing characters, and a pull you in and don’t let you go story line! You will want to one click this ASAP! I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

As a longtime fan of Carian Cole’s books, I have been anxiously awaiting for Asher’s story to be told. Of all of the books I have read from Ms. Cole, this story definitely lingers in my mind the longest.
How can you not love Asher Valentine? Devoted to his wife, Ember, since they were teenagers, Ash is more than just a hot rock god and lead singer in the band Ashes and Embers, he is also a loving husband and father. But what happens when your perfect world crumbles around you, leaving you with only memories to keep you company? When you stare into the eyes of the one you love the most and see a stranger?
Asher and Ember’s unconventional, second chance love story is a slow paced, heartbreaking, angst filled ride and I greedily savored every page. I love how Carian Cole shows the raw torment and guilt Ash is carrying inside himself while also trying to live in the here and now and support the ones he loves the most. I think his vulnerability is worse than Ember’s because he is the last person anyone would expect to need help, but he seems to be afraid to admit that he is human and allow himself to be real with his family and friends.
Ember is a complicated character with a difficult past and a personality that, at times, is very vague. I looked forward to any scene involving Asher and Ember, so that I could see Ember’s personality start to shine. Honestly, while I love Ash and Ember, there are moments where I felt Ash’s troubled heartache carried this story and captured my heart and mind to the end. Never boring and completely time consuming, Asher’s story is definitely better than I ever expected.
I feel like I waited a lifetime for this story and I would wait a hundred more. Carian told the most tragic and beautiful love story ever written. There were countless times I read through tear-filled eyes as the love of this man poured out on the pages. This was truly beautiful. The pain and heartache along with the love and devotion was palpable through every word.
Asher (Asher & Embers #6) is a beautiful, soulful and emotional love story that reminds me of why I love romance books so much. Carian Cole created a outstanding story of deep love, devotion, sacrifice, commitment and she continues to astound me with her talent. Asher is without a doubt one of the BEST reads of 2020.
I knew Asher was going to wreck me yet I was still unprepared for the level of emotions that Carian Cole took me through. Asher is a classic testimony that soulmates do exist and Asher and Ember’s love is timeless and unconditional. I fell madly in love with them as their raw and realistic story along with the trials, tribulations and pain they endured brought me to my knees. Their story is a slow burning page turner with an addictive and fascinating storyline that I devoured. This book just made an already excellent and amazing series that much better.
