Almost three years ago, a car crash took Audrey’s dad and scarred her for life. Now eighteen, she returns to her hometown for the first time after the accident.
She’s here to start again. Go to college and have fun. Make new friends. Get over the past.
But the past won’t let go.
Asher is here — her first kiss, her first heartbreak. More handsome and distant than ever, he’s still the boy who … ever, he’s still the boy who used to be her best friend. That was before he changed into someone she hardly knows anymore — the boy who started getting into fights and gave her the cold shoulder for years.
Asher isn’t what she needs. In fact, she hates him and should try her best to keep away from him.
Yet her body doesn’t seem to care about how she feels, and maybe, just maybe this time her body got it right. Not that she has much of a choice. Asher draws her like a bright flame, and if she isn’t careful, she’ll burn.
And that may not be such a bad thing after all…
Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.
Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers.

I’ve been on Jo’s review team for a while now, but I joined far after this series had began. I’m so excited to finally get time to read it. The story of Asher and Audrey is one that is so tragic and heartfelt.
Asher has gone through so much and so has Audrey, but they’ve gone through these things alone. Neither knew what the other was going …
Ash had never believed in himself. With a father that rotten straight to the core spewing venom his way how could he, and so when he begins to act out he distances himself from everyone around him including his best friend Auds whom he is now starting to see as the only girl he could ever love. Auds doesn’t know what to make of Ash’s sudden …
This is a new series for me and I’m glad I took a chance.
I loved this 2nd chance story. Two people who are so right for each other but yet on paper look wrong. This book tug at your heartstrings so many times.
I adored Ash, but man sometimes I wanted to thump him. He had friends he could have turned to, but his pride got in the way. He …
I read this book years ago and loved it then. Rereading it make me realize just how much I enjoyed this book. Asher has gone through so much in his young life. Audrey has as well. They were best friends when they were little, tragedy tears them apart. When they reconnect they find that they needed each other, they both learn how to cope, overcome, …
#1 in a great series
Asher and Audrey were best friends since they were nine. When they were teens he started pushing her away with no explanation. Then he kisses her and never talks to her again. Shortly after that, tragedy strikes Audrey’s family, and it also involves Asher’s family. She moved away, but now she is back and once again they see each other. She told …
First Review August 2014:
This book broke my heart. It was so damn sad. Although I was glad with the happy ending it still makes you wonder if Ash is going to be alright. I’ve never read a book with this type of abuse before. I didn’t expect it when I started reading. But I couldn’t stop I needed to know that everything is going to be okay. …
This book is just something else and you can’t help but feel all of the emotions when reading! Loved Audrey and Asher’s story. Heartbreaking to read at times but a story that truly is a must read.
This is the first book I ever read of Jo Raven’s and it’s still my all-time favourite of hers and I’ve followed her ever since. Jo Raven
