A horse breeder by trade, Corbin Jonquil is more at home in the stables than in the ballroom of his sprawling estate. Corbin is the quietest of the Jonquil brothers and has always faded into the background, contentedly unnoticed. When a mysterious young widow, Mrs. Clara Bentford, moves into the neighborhood, however, Corbin quickly comes to realize that being noticed has its advantages. But how … how to catch the eye of the lady? According to his brothers, Corbin need only make a few simple changes to transform himself into the object of any woman’s desire — dubious advice, indeed. Following a series of misadventures, Corbin and Clara slowly lower the facades behind which they’ve been hiding, leaving Corbin shocked by the horrors that haunt the woman he’s coming to care for so ardently. When the menace of Clara’s past threatens to tear them apart and tensions mount, will the couple have the courage to fight for the promise of forever?

I totally identify with Corbin Jonquil, a horse breeder and younger brother of the Earl of Lampton. He’s terribly shy and speaks hesitantly. I’m the same way. If I can get a whole sentence out, one that made sense, I feel lucky. This is a “happily ever after” story that I loved.
I absolutely adore the Jonquil brothers. Each one has a place in my heart but I think Corbin may well be my favorite. Corbin’s awkward personality made me smile through out the book. And feel bad for him too. I am not sure how many times I’ve read or listened to this book since I didn’t note each time here in my records but in the beginning …
While I think this story is great and the overall development of the characters and plot line is good, this book is just a lot slower than the first two in the series. I felt like the book could have ended about 4 chapters before it did—dragging out that finale was very unnecessary. Also, while I do like Corbin, he isn’t as engaging a character as …
I love this installment of the Jonquil brothers. It might be my favorite. Corbin has so much to offer, as Mater pointed out, but no one ever thought he could find lady to love him exactly as he is. Clara misjudged Corbin, but it’s no wonder she has a hard time seeing him for who he really is. Her past is a hard one. I love Clara for seeing and …
OH my do I love a Eden book:} This one was great! I would suggest reading in this order- Kiss of a Stranger, Friends and Foes and Drops of Gold then As you are. It will be so much more enjoyable and each one of those other books are amazing too. There are many characters in those books that are in this book. They are a family of brothers and this …

This one was not my favorite of The Jonquil Brothers series. This one is about Corbin, the shy horse breeder. I felt like there wasn’t much romance there. He has a big crush on a woman who keeps to herself. She finds out (mostly through someone else) that he is a nice man and that is not what she is used to. Therefore, she loves him.
It …
Wow. I loved this book! I decided to pick this up after reading “The Kiss of a Stranger”, which I really enjoyed. This was even better. Head and shoulders better. It’s got a similar theme, in which the heroine is facing severe abuse at the hands of the men in her life and is at their mercy due to the laws and customs of Regency England. But I feel …
