It turns out, however, that Charlie Forsythe kept his daughter a secret from everyone for nearly thirty years. When Mari comes to London, Owen immediately falls for her. I enjoy any book I read of Bella Andre
Once again Bella Andre wrote another fantastic book. There are only a few authors, I can count on one hand, that can keep my mind “off of things” I rather not think about and just get lost in a book. I kept hearing Owen speaking in his British accent as he tried to woo Mari. They were friends first but Owen knew right away she was “the one”
Mari’s father, Charlie, had left away when she was a toddler. Mari had not heard from him since she was 3. Once she got word that he died she had to pack her bags and fly to the beautiful Elderflower Island (I want to pack my bags and go there too)and get her dad’s affairs in order, which included a bookstore. Owen knew her dad since they were neighbors. He had his family helped Mari clean up the book store and Charlies home. Mari now had a place to live and her dream of owning a book store came true.Did she clean out her heart enough to let Owen in? That you would have to find out by reading this fantastic book!
We’ve all come to know and love this large Sullivan family. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, siblings…well you get the picture. We’ve followed this family around the country and now, we’re headed to the London branch of this very prolific family!
Owen Sullivan manages his grandmothers literary career. He’s all in with her after a health scare, and he takes the blame for not getting her help more quickly. When a neighbor and friend, Charlie Forsythe dies, and leaves his bookshop to the daughter no one knew about, Owen isn’t sure what’s in store. His grandmother might have a bit more insight!
Meri Everett has settled, but really doesn’t want to. After her father left when she was 3, she’s had a wonderful upbringing by her mother and stepfather. Her stepbrother has her back with their parents and knows that in her heart, Meri doesn’t WANT to settle. When she learns she’s inherited her birth father’s bookshop on Elderflower Island in the middle of the Thames, she realizes this is her chance to do something her heart has wanted for so long.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Do you believe that sometimes fate brings people together? Do you believe in the zing that you feel when you’ve met your one and only? As Long as I have You, will make you a believer.
I can’t wait to find out more about this fascinating family and the magical Elderflower Island.
Mari lives in CA with her mom and stepdad and brother. Not seeing her dad since 3y/o she was heartbroken to hear he passes away before she could talk to him as an adult.
Owen Sullivan and family has lived in a small community island and knew Charlie and his bookshop.
This was a great story and I very much recommended the book.
This is the story of Owen Sullivan and Marina Everett (Mari) and it is fantastic! Mari has been living in California, working as an accountant at her father’s practice when she gets a call that her biological father, Charlie, has passed away and left her everything. Everything includes his bookstore and flat on Elderflower Island, a suburb of London, that he escaped to when her parents split up when she was 3 years old. She never heard from her father after he left when she was 3 and over the years she had always wondered about him and what his life was like now. She had also been secretly studying up on, and falling in love with, the Island where he has called home.
Despite her mother’s misgivings, Mari boards a plane and heads to London to take possession of Charlie’s bookshop and his home. She doesn’t know what to expect and isn’t certain what she is going to do with her inheritance but knows she has always loved books and secretly dreamed of owning a bookstore one day. Because of Charlie’s sickness, the home and shop are a mess but Mari decides she is going to get everything back in order before determining what her next step is going to be. On her first day on Elderflower Island, she meets Owen. And the sparks fly immediately. Owen is a neighbor and a friend of her father’s, who oversees his grandmother’s estate and affairs and helps her as she recovers from a stroke she had the previous year. He quickly offers his help to Mari and as they work through the dirt and debris of the shop and Charlie’s house (with the help of Owen’s siblings, parents, grandmother and various neighbors/friends) – Mari is determined to make the shop a success. She also finds herself quickly falling for Owen as they both become very important in each other’s lives.
But with all great love stories – there are obstacles that must be overcome. As Mari works through her father’s things, she discovers many buried “treasures” that showed her how much he truly did love her and thought about her. She must also work through the difficulty she is having with her parents (Mother specifically) regarding the choices she made to go to London and to possibly stay and reopen the bookshop. Owen is also battling with guilt surrounding the circumstances of his grandmother’s stroke and together they help each other work through their difficulties and grow closer in the process.
If you’ve read any of the previous Sullivan family books (San Francisco, Seattle, Maine) – you already know what a fantastic storyteller Bella Andre is and this limb on the family tree will not disappoint! As you also meet Owen’s grandmother, parents and siblings in this book…you know the stories of his brothers and sister are going to be equally as good and something to look forward to.
I love Bella Andre books. I felt like this was me in this book because I love walking into a bookstore I get the same feeling that Mari gets excited and happy to find your next adventure. What a sweet story of romance with a love of books. Love the Sullivan books.
My heart belongs to a bookshop in London! An absolutely wonderful extension of the Sullivan family tree. Owen and Mari come together in true Sullivan style. Love at first sight, a respectful (but short) courtship, and family everywhere. Bella Andre’s stories always captivate and transport me to another place. Mari uncovers all the mysteries about her absent father and falls in love with London and Owen. Owen works through his guilt and begins to learn to live again. I’m so excited to read about each of the London Sullivan siblings.
“As Long As I Have You” (London Sullivans Book 1) by Bella Andre is a terrific read. I loved Mari and Owen’s story. This is a fantastic start to this new branch of the Sullivans. This story had romance, passion, close family, new beginnings, entertaining characters, and more. I can’t wait to read what happens next with these new members of the Sullivan family. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, family, and series.
In As Long As I Have You Bella Andre painted such a charming picture of the fictious Elderflower Island that all I wanted to do was pack my bags and hop on a plane for England. The London Sullivans are a interesting bunch and I truly am looking forward to getting to know each and every one. Mari Forsythe’s passion is books and suddenly she has a bookshop dumped in her lap courtesy of her estranged, deceased father. While re-establishing the bookshop Mari finds many answers to her questions about her father. She develops true friendships and finds a forever love with the man of her dreams, Owen Sullivan.
Bella Andre is known for her sweet romances. I love reading her because she leaves a smile on my face. She writes great family and wonderful relationships. This new Sullivan Book, for me, at least, was different. As Long As I Have You was even more for me and will definitely rank in my top 3 for her.
As Long As I Have You starts out when Mari, our heroine finds out her estranged father passed away. This hit home for me as my father, who I had not spoke to in years and left my mom and sisters and I when I was 3 died a year ago this month. I still have so much mixed feelings about his passing and I think Bella Andre did a great job showing Mari’s hurt and confusion. It totally felt real for me and almost made me want to stop reading, but I just couldn’t stop. I wanted to see how Mari would tackle all her obstacles, one of which included an old bookstore! An avid reader’s dream- to have his or her own bookstore.
Owen, our hero, helped Mari out in so many ways. It was an insta-love relationship, but we saw how they got closer as friends and confidants. Owen’s a great guy and very easy to love. And of course, he comes with his awesome Sullivan Family- a new branch, so I was happy to learn more about them and can’t wait for their stories.
For me, what also took this book to my Top 3 of Bella Andre’s were all the descriptions of London and the tour she gave me as I read. I’ve ALWAYS dreamed of going to England and Bella’s descriptions just transported me there and now I have to go search for recipes of scones and clotted cream to have with the tea I now am craving.
Honestly, I completely enjoyed this read as it was truly way more than just a sweet romance.
Thanks so much for this Bella Andre!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this novel. I am voluntarily and freely providing an honest review.
A whole new set of Sullivans to love? YES, PLEASE!!! Bella Andre begins a new chapter in her successful and beloved Sullivan series, introducing readers to the London Sullivans and they are just as amazing as the rest of the family! I loved getting to know Owen and Mari and all of the other characters surrounding them. I loved how these two souls connected over books as their worlds collided. The story is beautifully written and, as always, Andre gives us yet another swoon-worthy hero to fall in love with. I can’t wait for the next London Sullivan story!
I loved this book, it’s such a sweet romance. I felt sad that Mari didn’t get to see her Dad before he died. Loved how great a friend Owen is and how helpful his whole family is. But will her Mom understand she might not return home? She really wants to run the bookshop. It’s a very heartfelt book and I highly recommend it.
Such a great story to start the London Sullivans.
Mari and Owen are great!
The Sullivans have always been my favorite family along with all of their adventures of finding love and their happily Ever After. Your stories are wonderful and I love reading each of their adventures and they all make me smile, laugh, cry and fall in love with them.
Owners and Mari are no exception to loving their story and seeing what comes next. Their story based around a bookstore made the story more heartwarming and loveable. Get your copy today and read how wonderful the London Sullivans will be.
There aren’t many series that have gone past ten books that have kept my attention. But this one? The Sullivans? It’s why I read romance. Each story is pure and pulls at your heartstrings. They make you believe in happy ever after.
Mari, who just lost her birth father, has gone to England to handle his affairs, which include a bookstore, when she meets Owen. A friend of her father’s, Owen checks in on Mari and instantly knows she’s the one for him. Their story is slow building, but it’s a beautiful one. I loved their friendship-turned-love-story.
If you’re looking for a book to read, pick this one. It’s more than worth the hours you’ll spend between the pages.
Mari has always felt drawn to England and the small villages encompassed there. In particular Elderflower Island, where her biological father was from. He left her and her mother when Mari was 3 and she never heard from him again. According to her mother, he was not a good father and she kicked him out after he failed at watching her one day and Mari ventured into the street.
Now Mari finds herself traveling across the world once she gets a call that her father passed away and she has inherited his business and apartment. Her mother is not happy and feels like she will lose Mari to her father’s world after all. But Mari feels this is something she is drawn towards and has to see it through.
Owen Sullivan knows Charlie’s daughter is on her way to the Island and hopes she reopens the bookstore. His Grandmother was good friends with Charlie as was many members of his family. They all had no idea that he even had a daughter, well except his grandmother, he feels strongly that she knew. As the oldest child in his family, he knows how to support his siblings, he will do the same for Mari.
Mari quickly realizes this is her new home, she feels such a draw to the island, the people and the bookshop. She knows she will never return to the states, now she just has to get her mother to understand why she needs to stay.
Owen falls for Mari quite quickly and knows it was meant to be. But will he lose her to her mother’s misgivings about her biological father? He knows he will fight for Mari and what they could possibly have developing between them.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy provided without expectations. While this Sullivan novel was a little less about the Sullivan family and more about Mari it still rang true with the Sullivan’s we’ve come to know and love. It also was much “sweeter” than I normally feel from this series, but it still left me with all the feels. Another great read from Bella Andre.
A great sweet love story. I loved the no pressure, no rush relationship build Owen & Mari partake together. You don’t see many stories like that these days. A wonderful change. Mari’s story with her father is a great example for love, forgiveness, & hindsight. A lesson never to wait to long.
I received this book a ARC for my honest review.I loved it.It was a great read. I fall in love with Bella’s characters every time.It is like I am there with them. Owen and Mari story 5Stars
The love story of Mari and Owen is a wonderful introduction to the London Sullivans. I loved the descriptive writing about London and the bookstore renovation. I received an advanced copy for my honest opinion. I enjoyed this book as all of the Sullivan books. Highly recommend.
Owen Sullivan administers or directs the work of her grandmother, a highly successful mystery book writer worldwide.
Marina (Mari) Everest has always dreamed of meeting her father, who left her and her mother’s life when she was 3 years old. And always loved reading and dreamed of having a bookstore, but never imagined that she would inherit her father’s bookstore (Bookshop) in England, and even without being able to meet her father, she discovers wonderful things in England.
She discovers that her father never ceases to love her and discovers the love of a Sullivans, as sweet and wonderful as all the other Sullivans we have ever loved.
Even just quoting the American Sullivans, the ones we know and love so much, it was very interesting to meet the English Sullivans.
