You can practically hear the Indiana Jones theme song when you crack the first page of this USA TODAY bestseller. The suspenseful, mysterious, and romantic come together in the exotic world of treasure hunts… in a Scottish legend from the days of the British Raj.
But she’s not the only one on the trail.
From San Francisco to the Highlands of Scotland, Jaya must evade a shadowy stalker as she follows hints from the hastily scrawled note to a remote archaeological dig.
Helping her decipher the cryptic clues are her magician best friend, a devastatingly handsome art historian with something to hide, and a charming archaeologist running for his life.
When a member of the dig’s crew is murdered, Jaya must figure out which of the scholars vying for her affections might be the love of her life—and which one is a killer.
Pick up this scene-stealer before the adventure passes you by.

This story had a fun puzzle with plenty of twists and turns, but the horribly stiff dialogue and the over-telling of how the main character was feeling left me disliking the book as a whole.
Adventure fans, welcome to your new favorite character: Jaya Jones. I know I love her! She is a strong, independent, smart woman who seems to get herself in the midst of a mystery that leads to a treasure hunting adventure. She receives a package from her thought to be deceased ex boyfriend. It’s a bracelet that is thought to have not existed. As …
didn’t read all hard to get through the first few chapters
Had potential, but slow start
Absolutely favorite series that I re-read from time to time…sometimes in anticipation for the next book!
This was a fun read as is the sequel. The characters are quirky and seemed more original than most books I’ve read recently.
Jaya is a bit too naive for the situations she gets into, but overall this book is a slower, refreshing change from the intense action adventures I have been reading. The narrator did a wonderful job.
Great fun
I found it really slow and pendantic. It didn’t hold my attention at all.
Bought the others in the series. Great lead Character!
I enjoyed this book very much. Jaya is fearless to the point of taking unlikely risks but such a likable character! Her love interests (plural) are also well developed and interesting. The mystery is fairly simple and fun. A very pleasant read!
At last! A well-educated, reasonably confident, independent woman who thinks outside the box! She has an interesting background, quirky friends, and an ex lover with a mysterious artifact. Oh, and he’s apparently dead, but no corpus delicti. Enter a pushy grad student and an assortment of new characters. Soon there is more history and mystery to …
New history professor Jaya Jones is trying to process the death of her ex-boyfriend when she receives a package in the mail from him that contains a bracelet. It looks to be old and possibly valuable. Now, she’s wondering if he really died in an accident like everyone thinks or if it was murder. And what is the story of the bracelet?
While I …
I enjoyed the cultural information, and historical insights, and information on archaelogy and jewelry. But the book itself was “wordy”. Too much talking, speculating. I’d like to see more action to show what is going on
I especially enjoyed the archeological setting. Will read another by this author.
I read one and wouldn’t read others. It is not developed well and the characters are rather one-sides.
Fun series that stays light while being entertaining and informative.
Good read.
Loved it so much, I got the rest of the series!
Enjoyed reading this book. It’s a mix of history, mystery, treasure hunt, clever dialogue and romance…what can be better. Very well written. Characters enjoyable and worth the reader’s investment. Looking forward to reading more in this series. Highly recommended.
