From a strikingly original voice in fiction comes the story of Artemis Fowl, a very unusual hero. Artemis combines the astuteness of Sherlock Holmes with the sangfroid of James Bond and the attitude of Attila the Hun. But even Artemis doesn’t know what he’s taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of LEPrecon Unit. These aren’t the fairies of bedtime stories. These fairies are armed … armed and they’re dangerous. Artemis thinks he’s got them just where he wants them, but then they stop playing by the rules…
Full of unexpected twists and turns, Artemis Fowl opens up a riveting world of magic, mystery, and humor.

Lots of fun and very creative.
This kicked off one of my favorite series as a child. Incredible world-building using real-world mythology and great characters. I loved how unapologetically dark Artemis is. I thought about this book after the abysmal movie came out, and I want to let prospective readers know to give this one a chance.
These books are exciting, and I like the way that Artemis always finds a way out of trouble. He is very creative and resourceful!
Fun!
I liked it even though it was a bit predictable.
Lot’s of fun to read.
One of my favorite books of all time. Much better than the Harry Potter books, which I also enjoyed but not nearly as much as Artemis Fowl and its sequels. It’s the kind of book you will always remember.
I know I’m all grown up, but this was just plain fun to read! I will be buying the others books in this series!
One of my all-time favorite Y.A. series!

Read it first some 6, 7 years ago, and I’m looking forward to reading it again, got it cheap on Kobo via bookbub alert. My 6 year old is currently reading it and I look forward to those daily updates from him.
Hell of a book. So far now, Eoin CColfer I’ve read all the Artemis Fowl book, all the W.A.R.P. books, the …
In the post-Harry Potter literary world where every YA fantasy novel starts to feel the same, Artemis Fowl is a decidedly original and deliciously entertaining series. Unputdownable and impossible to pick my favorite. They’re wickedly funny and astoundingly clever. You don’t want to miss this series!
fun blend of magic & advanced technology, clever story, great characters!
Artemis Fowl is no fairy dust—this is the real pot of gold! Hold on . . . actually, it’s quite a bit of fairy dust. . . . And by real gold, I actually mean LEPrecon gold. Oh, dear. Just read the book. It’s FANTASTIC!!!
One of my favorite book series! Original characters and concept!
