“For the thrill-seeking romance reader who isn’t afraid of the dark. Bliss. Heartache. Enchantment. The last thing I want is the arrogant artist peering inside my mind while he paints my body.
But Gideon is more than he appears — and so am I. As I fall deeper under his sinful spell, a lifetime of secrets and lies unravels. Too late, I remember the dark truths they protect:
I am already someone’s masterpiece…
And the original artist wants me back.

Sometimes I really don’t like this author and that is really meant as a compliment in the best of ways. Reading is supposed to be an escape into a world where I can walk away from reality. . . then I pick up her books and all hope for escape is gone because the reality she creates is too freaking real. Gideon. A sentence and world all by himself. An artist , which almost says it all but he doesn’t fit any mold and is dark and dirty all on his own and too darn intuitive for the likes of her. She has a deep dark secret. Hers alone to keep. She has a past and now that past has tracked down her present. The mask she has started to remove for Gideon may be to fragile to protect her now.
This doggone author does it EVERY FREAKING TIME. You would think I’d be used to it by now. Expect her to do some stuff in her characters, watch them crumble and start to get it together just to have it ripped away right along with my heart. Two broken and patched souls clinging to the one who makes their darkness show it’s beauty and start to have some peace and bam. Yeah it’s like that. This isn’t a read for the faint at heart and it isn’t a standalone so get over it. This is worth every single word, every single tear, and every emotion it makes you feel and feel you will as you find out what this author knows, there is sin in art and art in sin.
LM never ceases to amaze me. Her books just suck me into another world. I can’t get enough.
Gideon and Deidre are quite the couple. A wild, free spirited artist and a publicist who has a dark past. Their story starts as rather a slow burn, but then the twists start coming. When the past shows up, you know that things are not going to go well….
Gideon has such depth, and the way he is always present for Deidre is amazing. She carries a lot of baggage, much of which he is still trying to figure out. That doesn’t stop him from bring there for her every step of the way as she slowly starts to open up to him. Gideon: ” Whatever you’ve come from, whatever you’ve lived through, I don’t care. I’m not afraid of your dark.” ” But what if I am? Afraid of the dark inside me?” “Then I’ll set the world on fire to bring you light.”
I know the next book is going to be even more of a rollercoaster, and I can’t wait!
My goodness…just when I think this author’s writing can’t get any better, she ups her game. This book was BEYOND amazing. I’d give it 50 Stars if I could (lol). The writing was superb. It was paced well. The plot was was intense. Heartbreaking. Sensual. Well developed. Dark. Mysterious. Intricate. The story was told from Dierdre’s POV with some flashbacks that give us glimpses into Dierdre’s past and that help set up the mystery angle. Which I assume will be in the forefront in book two.
Both the main characters were super intriguing. Gideon was sexy as f-ck (even if he was a ginger *lol*). He had a bit of a bad boy mystery thing going on even though he was the more straightforward of the two mains. He wore his heart on his sleeve with Dierdre though. Dierdre was really the star of this book. The author mentioned in a post she made that she thought Dierdre was the “alphahole” here, so I admit I was a little scared as I am not a fan of that type of heroine, but “I” didn’t find her an alphahole at all. She was strong, but also vulnerable. She was feisty, but also sweet. I thought she was a great heroine. However, I share Gideon’s worry…“If someone does come back, it won’t be her. It won’t be Deirdre.”
This was a fairly slow burn romance. No sex until almost 70% into the book, but this couple had OUT OF THIS WORLD sexual chemistry. There wasn’t any OW or OM drama. However, the heroine sees the hero getting a BJ at a sex club. It isn’t overly detailed and you find out it happened three years before the start of this book. This book also had some great secondary characters. We briefly see Dominic and London again from PERFECT VISION. I also loved both Finn and Nate and hope we get to see more of them in book two (and beyond?) Last, it was all wrapped up on a heartbreaking cliffhanger. Luckily for ME book two landed on my tablet a couple days ago…woot! (lol)
I literally just finished and my emotions are all over the place. I want to cry, scream, and hope all at the same time. This book gutted me, my heart breaking, my soul aching for the brokenness that is Deidre and Gideon. L.M. Halloran’s books never fail to move me so deeply, I can’t read another book for at least 24 hours. She has this magic to her writing that draws you into the book so deeply you feel like you are a part of the characters world. This book draws you in and doesnt let go until the very last word only to leave you wanting more and being oh, so grateful you have the pleasure of reading her words!
Hot, dark, sexy and full of suspense is what you can expect from Art of Sin by L.M. Halloran. And this is only the first book! So yes we’re left with a cliffhanger. Unlike a lot of people, I love a good cliffhanger because I know I’m going to get one hell of an ending and L.M. Halloran doesn’t disappoint.
Deidre is a surviver, she’s lived a life most couldn’t and always looking over her shoulder. Never trusting anyone until Gideon.
Gideon is an artist who is mysterious and refuses to take no for an answer. He knows what he wants and he wants Deidre.
But when her past catches up with her can the survive?
Omg Thank god book 2 isn’t that far away, because this girl needs answers!!
Love L.M Halloran and love every word she writes! One clicking is a no brainer!!
I was immersed right from the start. Dark, delicious, hot, suspenseful. Couldn’t wait to see if Gideon could break down Diedre’s walls. Could not wait to read the second book!!
New to me author. The first 20% was really slow to get into. I liked Deirdre though and know the task of her babysitting a man child will be difficult. You get tidbits from her upbringing, it’s abusive and sad. I’m liking Gideon. The story does pick up and becomes interesting. It’s takes a much different route than I thought it becomes a lot darker something I wasn’t expecting. Her past is catching up with her. Gideon is not what I expected, he’s turning out to be a decent man. Oh la la there’s a lovely twist towards the end. I’m not sure if I’ll read the next part. I may come back to it.
Wonderful book. The writing was incredibly good. Beautiful job bringing two people together who have been through a lot. He’s not scared of her darkness. I loved this and book 2 in the duet. Wonderful, wonderful book.
Art of Sin is FANTASTIC! What a book. My first from L.M. Halloran and she clearly knows how to write! A story so intense I just couldn’t stop reading it. I found myself so thoroughly engaged that I’m surprised I could take a break to write this review before jumping into book 2. Yeah it’s that good.
Halloran gives us two very potent, very complicated characters in Gideon Masters and Deirdre Moss. She becomes this well-acclaimed artist’s publicist and soon they find themselves not only at odds with each other but intensely attracted as well. There’s this low simmering steam that can’t help but make itself known as they get to know each other and Gideon asks for 6 months of dedicated attention, being Deirdre’s only client. Both have tales to tell yet Deirdre’s past keeps her in a wave of darkness that perhaps only Gideon can enlighten. He is so subtle about his motives, about his desire to free of her of the tortured chains that continue to keep her prisoner. But he’s also got this unmistakable charm. A true rogue that is completely irresistible.
Deirdre is as fierce a warrior as I’ve ever read. She manages her team of junior publicists like a well-oiled machine, which has a unforeseen kink that is not only her client in Gideon, but her past rearing its ugly head once more. I love her spirit. Her capability to keep many plates in the air even when they are so close to falling. I admire her for not only realizing she has weaknesses, mainly for her talented painter, but for knowing when she needs to truly kick a$$ and keep those she cares about, safe for good. She is smart. She is determined. Yet at the hands of Gideon, she is all woman and their sexy rendezvous are incredibly erotic.
This is a book that combines intrigue with lust, mystery with true love, beautifully. I can’t get enough of these characters and now I’ll be diving right into Sin of Love to find out how this adventure ends.
A truly wonderful read that has me on the edge of my seat, even while squirming in it from all the sexual tension between Deirdre and Gideon, I happily give Art of Sin a huge 5+ stars!!
Loved this book. I like having strong female character. Diedre is complicated but so is Gideon. There’s a tug and pull and a lot of not gonna happens. 100% I would recommend this book again and again. I don’t want to spoil the book but I will tell you it’s so worth a read!
I asked for recommendations for stories with a twist and I jumped on this one because I was in the mood for dark and twisty and I was not disappointed in the least. LM Halloran brings us a dark story of childhoods gone terribly wrong, rising up through the ashes and finding that one person who would burn the world down to make you smile. Deirdre wears a mask, a strong as heck shell that no one has been able to penetrate…until she meets him and even then…it takes some doing to get through to the pain inside of her. Gideon is completely arrogant — at first — but has become a swoon-worthy book boyfriend for me. There are dark, complex issues in the story and there are some “come into the light” moments but in the end….you will want to run to the second book in the duet to hear how their story ends. I’m on my way now!
First I have to say that I have never read a book like this. It was so intimate and romantic that I felt like I was right there with Dierdre and Gideon. I felt like I was living out their lives through the reading and it was beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. It was just simply amazing and PHENOMENAL and everything in between. I felt like I was on a roller coaster of emotions and Gideon and Dierdre were driving and I was riding along side them.
Dierdre meets Gideon after he has made a mistake and needs to be kept out of the medias eyes. She has to make sure he is portrayed as the master of art that he is but that is no easy thing when all Gideon wants is a new muse to help him get back on top of his game.
What they never thought was that they would fall for each other and the secrets and lies that Gideon keeps comes back to haunt him and Dierdre must decide whether she will keep this professional or will she give in to her heart and make it romantic?
Absolutely #BOOKHEAVEN for this #fangirl your next star Read
Intense, mysterious, intriguing! There are secrets, private thoughts, dark pasts. My heart aches for these characters despite their strengths because they are two broken souls. This my first book by LM Halloran and I am enthralled by her writing!
Deidre was strong and maintained that in her outward demeanor and appearance as her professional self. It was something she worked hard to uphold and displayed. Yet , She was vulnerable, thoughtful, loving and protective, especially of Nate and the history they shared. Gideon was mysterious to me at first but then I grew to really like him. He was reflective, creative, and artistic and his treatment of Deirdre was sexy yet thoughtful. They grew to love and expressed so to each other and then….Holy cliffhanger! Luckily book 2, Sin of Love is not far behind!
I can’t wait!
Wow! What a ride! You can totally feel every hurt from diedre’s past and gideon’s as well. And the hope for their future. They are an amazing couple and I cant wait to see how their story unfolds in book 2.
Oh my goodness, I’m yet again in love with L.M. Halloran! This book got me, like “ignore everything in my life so I can just keep reading” got me. Gideon and Deirdre’s story is one I get lost in, setting my soul afire to find light in my own darkness.
I swear to you, this authors books just keep getting better!!! I read this book in one sitting, unable to put it down!
The angst and chemistry between Gideon and Deirdre is all consuming. The story of these two just as intriguing. Two lost souls have finally found each other.
Gideon is a hot af artist, who doesn’t give a crap what anyone thinks. He does his own thing, consequences be damned. He doesn’t want a publicist, but Deirdra peaked his interest. She’s different, she doesn’t want anything from him, other than staying out of the spotlight.
Deirdra hasn’t had it easy, by any means. She’s had a horrible childhood only to have her teenage years be horrific. She has reinvented herself. Went to college. Got a degree. Needless to say, she is less than thrilled about working with Gideon. Now, the past is back to collect her and…..that’s pretty much where this book ends.
Art of Sin is part one of the duet. Sin of Love releases on March 28th.
So, Deirdra, girl you’ve got this ! You are courageous and stronger than you think! I just want to reach through my kindle and hug you so hard! Gideon, you’d better be there to catch her when she falls!!
Wow! This was fantastic and I want more! The writing is phenomenal, the story captivating and intense at times, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. Highly recommend!
L.M. Halloran doesn’t disappoint that’s for sure! Once again she has given us another gem in the form of Art of Sin. I thoroughly enjoy the dark and sexy aspects of this story and cannot wait for more! Her writing in impeccable as always and her characters make you fall in love and hate at the same time. Gideon and Deirdre are another example of how gloriously brilliant L.M.’s mind is and how she is able to pull us in so deep and make us ache for her characters. Bravo on part 1, cannot wait to read part 2. I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
