I think I could have liked this book, but I found the minutia of details too tedious for my taste and just couldn’t slog through to the finish.
This is the first book of a new series by Dale Mayer. Doreen, former trophy wife and going through a divorce (soon to be ex is replacing her). Her grandma, known as Nana to the small Canadian town she resides, reaches out to Doreen with an offer — take care of her pets and her house. As Doreen finds herself and develops life skills, she encounters a cold case with the help of Goliath, the 30 pound cat, Thaddeus, the parrot, and Mugs, the basset hound. This is an old fashioned mystery for all ages, with just a hint of romance possible.
I enjoyed this book. It was funny and crazy.
Fairly entertaining. The heroine is somewhat hard to believe, but surrounded by a trio of likeable pets. The plot is okay; tthe resolution forced.
It’s a pleasant read, typical of the genre with a somewhat feisty female lead, a cute but stern cop, and nothing memorable. Good way to pass some lazy time.
Excellent light reading
This book is about a wanta be sleuth trying to help the local constable. Liked this a lot. Couldn’t figure out the criminal til the end.
The book got better as I got deeper into it. A little too much time spent on the woes of her divorce and loss of status in life. Still a good read and I have read 2 more of the series.
This one did not hold my attention. I stopped reading it about 1/4 of the way through. It just wasn’t for me.
not exactly what I expected with this mystery. I didn’t have a clue who the murderer was until the reveal.
Kinda fun but not too believable!
This is a pretty typical cozy, an easy read and nice escape for a couple of hours on a dreary afternoon. I enjoyed it, but wouldn’t go out of my way for it–but that’s true for most cozies. They’re as much formula as a Harlequin Romance and that makes them an easy read at the end of a long tiring day or week.
Love the book waiting for others in the series to go on sale.
A light and easy read with likeable characters…great beginning of a series.
Great book, couldn’t figure who the killer or killers were. An enjoyable read.
