A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot. When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of … and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.
My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.
Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.
Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.
Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.
Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.
Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.
ARROGANT DEVIL is a full-length romantic comedy of 93,000 words. For a limited time, I’ve also included an excerpt from my #1 bestselling sports romance THE SUMMER GAMES: SETTLING THE SCORE!

You guys, seriously, you have to read Arrogant Devil!! I can’t remember the last time I loved a heroine more than I did Meredith. She’s so real. She’s so strong. And she made me fall in love with her right from the beginning. It took me a little (a lot) longer to fall for Jack because he was downright cruel to Meredith for the longest time, but he eventually won me over, just as he won Meredith over, although I’m still not sure if he deserves her.
Meredith married her first love, Andrew, 5 years ago. They were happy at first, but slowly the tide turned as he climbed the corporate ladder. He started verbally and emotionally abusing her to the point that she was his punching bag. She became so withdrawn and compliant that she never stood up to him. He eroded her self worth. He eroded her will. Until she snapped and walked out on him. That’s where her sister came in. Not willingly, and not graciously, because Meredith and she were never close, and Helen really resented the person she thought Meredith was – a spoiled princess who got everything Helen did not. But, they’re family, so when Meredith asked Helen to put her up, she reluctantly agreed, only because she was out of the country on vacation, she told Meredith she could temporarily take her place as the assistant to Helen’s boss, Jack McKnight.
From the very beginning, Jack was given the wrong idea of Meredith, thanks to Helen’s resentful bs, and he resented the fact that a spoiled city girl was going to be living and working on his ranch. He was determined to make Meredith leave. He underestimated her, though. He thought she couldn’t hack it when he made her live in a literal shack that had no A/C (in Texas of all places!!), had floorboards missing, and was infested with vermin. He thought she wouldn’t want, wouldn’t be able to, become his housekeeper (maid). But Meredith had rediscovered her will, and she stood tall to her arrogant boss. And everyone around her except Jack, fell in love with her because she’s awesome. Jack’s amazing grandma Edith was first to see in Meredith what Jack couldn’t, wouldn’t, see – that Meredith had character, had worth, had been abused and was just now building herself up. Then Jack’s Golden Retriever Alfred fell for her even though Meredith was at first scared of him. Then all Jack’s ranch hands. And the rest of their small town. If only Jack would take off the blinders Helen had imposed on him, and see what a really great person Meredith was.
The slow burn of Arrogant Devil was delicious. The tension between the two was addicting to read. And when they finally gave in, I was cheering, because Meredith really deserved something beautiful in her life. And she finally got it and I was a little teary eyed by the end cuz like I said, I adored her from the very beginning.
So if you have any interest at all in a beautifully told, sweet and sexy story filled with an amazing cast of characters, I highly recommend you 1-click Arrogant Devil today, right now in fact. You’ll fall in love with Meredith and her arrogant rancher, Jack, Grandma Edith, Alfred the lovable Golden Retriever, and all the ranch hands of Blue Stone Ranch.
I truly enjoyed this book. It is such a wonderful story and I loved the Epilogue.
I definitely recommend this book and this author.
Omg, this book was excellent!!! I just loved it!
Usually I avoid books with “angry” heroes. You know, the alpha’s who are big jerks to the heroine for no good reason. They’re always upset and yelling at someone, usually the woman they’re supposed to be falling in love with. When Ms. Grey first announced this book and I heard the title, I groaned a little bit. I love her books and her writing but I was not looking forward to a jerk hero.
Let me tell you, while Jack was a strong, straightforward, bull headed businessman who speaks his mind, is rather closed off and doesn’t take any crap from anyone, I did not find him to be a like those other angry heroes I’ve read about. Because the book is in alternating, first person POV, the reader gets a clear view inside Jack’s head. It’s so obvious that’s he’s not as horrible as everyone claims he is.
And Meredith! Oh boy, does she give it as much as she takes it! He spits fire at her and she spits it right back! Their give and take is awesome. I loved that even though she was leaving a bad marriage and was emotionally beat up, she wasn’t gonna let anyone steam roll her ever again.
I just loved everything about the story and the romance!
There’s a bit of language in this book, mostly f-bombs, but it wasn’t excessive or distracting. There’s two sex scenes: oral sex in chapter 25 and the full enchilada in chapter 30. They are both detailed and multiple pages long.
If you’ve read R.S. Grey’s other books, don’t miss this one! You won’t regret it!
I already knew that I enjoyed R.S. Grey’s writing after reading The Beau & the Belle, but Arrogant Devil has officially made her a must read author for me. I was inspired by Meredith – her struggle, determination, and grit are truly qualities that I wish to emulate. Her chemistry with Jack was off the charts and he was just the kind of alpha a-hole I adore – aka: one that has real and harrowing reasons behind his mulish behavior. And while I couldn’t stand Meredith’s half-sister (she was such a jerk!), I did appreciate the plot device that her lack of concern and doubt added to the story. I enjoyed the setting of the ranch, the reappearance of Meredith’s douchebag ex-husband, and especially Edith (Jack’s grandma). This book was just a joy to read from beginning to end and I can’t wait for the next R.S. Grey release! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
NO SPOILERS!
Bravo, R.S. Grey, bravo! Arrogant Devil was such a pleasant surprise. Some of this author’s previous books have been hit or miss for me, but Arrogant Devil has honestly been her best novel to date! It was a sexy, funny, and highly entertaining standalone romantic comedy, and I absolutely loved it! The storyline and characters were phenomenal, and I loved R.S. Grey’s writing style and sense of humor. Arrogant Devil was such a delight to read, and I can’t wait to see what this author releases next!
The storyline was great and even better than I imagined. I’m a big fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope, and this book certainly fit the bill. Even though it was a slow burn romance, and those aren’t always my favorite, I absolutely loved this one. Arrogant Devil had laugh-out-loud humor, just enough heat to satisfy me, funny and lovable characters, an idyllic small town setting, and everything else I could ever want in a romantic comedy. R.S. Grey did a fantastic job with this book, and I couldn’t have loved it more.
The characters were amazing. Jack and Meredith, along with several others, were wonderful, and I loved them so much. I loved their personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Jack and Meredith’s point of view, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. Since this was an enemies-to-lovers story, it definitely wasn’t an easy journey for Jack and Meredith. “Arrogant Devil” was certainly an apt name for Jack, at least in the beginning. It took me a little while to warm up to him, but in the end I really loved him. Meredith was an excellent heroine, and I loved her dearly. She was strong, independent, and I loved her quirkiness and sense of humor. Her inner dialogue was hilarious, and she made me laugh a lot. Despite some of the ups and downs between Jack and Meredith, I loved going on this journey with them, and I was so freaking happy with the conclusion to their story. It made me smile from ear to ear and was even better than I hoped it would be.
Arrogant Devil was a sexy, hilarious, and addicting standalone romantic comedy, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! R.S. Grey did an excellent job with this book, and it has definitely been my favorite novel from her so far. I was ecstatic with the outcome to Jack and Meredith’s story, and I won’t forget it anytime soon. R.S. Grey knocked it out of the field (wink, wink) with Arrogant Devil, and I’m so excited to devour more from her!
I have read a handful of Grey’s books in the past. Not all, but some. I have enjoyed all of them thus far. This one is no different. I am apt to say out of the books of hers I have read, this one is my favorite so far.
I always enjoy a book where I will giggle, laugh, and become overwrought with emotions. That is definitely a winning combo. And all of it is in this book. I went from giggling to laughing to that tightness in my chest during this book. I can honestly say I enjoyed it all.
Grey is such a talented writer. She delivers a story with such an array of emotions and relate-able and lovable characters. One cannot help but to get sucked into her books and get lost in them. This was one I wasn’t sure I wanted to end.
I held on tight through all of the ups and downs with these characters. Between getting to know them and experiencing their triumphs and defeats, I was consumed with this book. I am still sitting here smiling thinking about it. Great plot. Exquisite characters and character development. Undeniable chemistry with ALL of the characters. This book is a winner!
I’ve always been a big R.S. Grey fan. When I first came across one of her novels, I was so impressed that I ended up downloading ALL of her books and working my way through them. I’ve come to expect a certain level of excellence from her and she definitely does NOT disappoint in Arrogant Devil. The characters are insanely wonderful. From the moment we meet Meredith, I just completely became wrapped up in her. She is strong and witty and smart and lovely. Everything about that woman makes you want to hope and cheer for her success. I could seriously read 50 Meredith books! I also really enjoyed Jack’s character. I thought there was a good balance between lovable and a-hole. Just enough drama to keep ya going, but still plenty of good vibes to keep you satisfied. I’d also like to say that I’m very impressed with how Grey handled what can be considered a sensitive topic – emotional abuse. I think it’s tricky to handle a character who has been manipulated, used, and abused, but she really did such an excellent job. All of the feelings and emotions felt very real, while still allowing the character to be fierce and strong. I think it’s so important that authors create characters that can be role models to girls and women who might be experiencing similar situations, and Grey did just that.
I have the same initial reaction to every R.S. Grey book. The cover always grabs my attention, (I love the bright colors!) and then the blurb makes me think, meh. No, seriously. I think it’s a personal problem, but the blurbs never make me that excited. However, from page one I am completely sucked in.
R.S. Grey takes what is basically a really believable, every day style romance story and turns it into a drug that I cannot get enough of. The characters are so believable. The situations are so picturesque. The plot is angsty enough to feel real, but not over the top, roll your eyes dramatic. Though it may seem simple at first, R.S. Grey reminds me that every romance is full of everyday magic.
This book was fantastic. Definitely worth the read.
There are some authors you can always count on to deliver a great story with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. R.S. Grey is one of those for me. Arrogant Devil is everything I wanted (and more) in a book. It’s a true rom com and I loved every single minute of it. I think I say this every time she releases a new book, but Arrogant Devil just might be my favorite to date. Meredith is the kind of heroine you just can’t help but fall for and root for. Jack was perfectly grumpy and I loved seeing her get through to him without even trying. It was charming and sweet and sexy and I finished with a huge grin on my face and a tear in my eye.
Arrogant Devil darn near became a one-sitting read for me. I didn’t want to stop reading once I started. I fell a little bit more in love with Meredith with every single chapter. She was a fantastic heroine. The more I learned about the way her husband treated her, the more I wanted to go punch him in the throat. And, you know, befriend and hug her. Her drive and determination was wonderful and it made her that much easier to root for. I loved how she buckled down and made the best of her current situation, just being happy to build a life of her own, no matter how different it was from what she was accustomed to. And what better place to find this second chance than at a farm in a small town? A farm with a grumpy owner and a meddling grandmother. Jack was slow to warm up, but he had his reasons. And honestly it didn’t take me that long to realize there was a lot more underneath his prickly exterior.
Meredith’s journey in this book just made my heart happy. Her character progression was amazing. She proved she wasn’t the princess everyone thought she was and she truly found herself. She also found where she belonged. *swoony sigh* (And let’s be honest, Jack’s journey was pretty special, too.) As you might’ve guessed, the other part I LOVED about this book was the romance. Jack and Meredith provided that delicious slow burn I’ve come to enjoy so much. From the initial animosity to the understanding to the friendship and finally the budding romance, their story was absolutely perfect. I couldn’t get enough of these two and their banter and the chemistry I could feel in every scene. Oh, and bonus? The meddling grandma, Edith. I won’t say she’s my favorite character in the book because I love all the principals, but she was the epitome of a sassy southern woman and I absolutely loved her.
I could go on forever about the million little things I loved about Arrogant Devil, but I’ll spare you. But, if you’re looking for your next favorite rom com, you have to pick this one up. It’s one of my favorites of the year so far. I only finished it two days ago and I still want to reread it right this second. So much love for this book!

I came to Texas hoping to find some comfort from my sister and instead I found him—the rudest, most inconsiderate man west of the Mississippi.
I was basically Harry Potter in a parallel universe where he never gets a Hogwarts letter, instead living in the spidery cupboard under the stairs all the way through his late twenties, cursing the mean Muggles he lives with.
Later, when someone asks me about the happiest moments of my life, I will think back to this, right now. I’ll lie and say something PG-related, but I’ll know the truth.

Even though I’ve been described as a devil by more than a few people, the name does have one redeeming quality: when you make a deal with me, you know I’ll keep my word, forever.
4 1/2 stars. Such an enjoyable read. Meredith was so funny and quirky and such a strong character. Jack was an “arrogant devil” with a heart of gold. I loved the crooked path they took to fall in love and seeing their true selves shine.
Loved it! Couldn’t put it down!
5 Stars!
Meredith Avery is a beautiful 28 yr. old woman living in California who married her wealthy husband right out of college. To the outside world she lives this grand life in Beverly Hills where she has everything she could ever want. Her reality is a much different story. One evening Meredith decides her marriage is over, and she leaves in the middle of the night with literally just the clothes on her back. She boards a plane to Texas hoping her sister will give her some much needed comfort and understanding. Instead all she finds is an impossible, rude, inconsiderate man named Jack McKnight.
Meredith’s sister is on vacation, so she sends Meredith to the Blue Stone Ranch where she works for the owner. Unfortunately he already seems to have formed his opinions of her, and they’ve started out on the wrong foot. Meredith is alone, out of money, and in desperate need of a place to live and work. She just wants a chance to prove herself, but Jack clearly already judged her & thinks the worst of her from the start.
Jack thinks if he makes things hard on Meredith she’ll go running back home. He’s decided she’s an entitled, spoiled princess who isn’t cut out for his ranch. If he’s patient he will soon be rid of her, and his favor to her sister will be fulfilled.
Meredith is taking control of her life. She’s never stood on her own two feet. She wants to leave her old life behind and have a fresh start. She’s going to pave her own way for her future, and even though Cedar Creek is completely different from her life in California, she starts to feel at home in this small town.
Meredith & Jack are like oil and water, and clash at every turn, but the more time they spend together the more aware they become of one another. Meredith wishes Jack wasn’t so attractive. He’s the manliest thing she’s ever seen, and soon she develops a crush and can’t help desperately craving her boss. Over time they become more friendly and she goes from not being able to stand him, to having delicious cowboy fantasies about the sexy, arrogant devil. The closed off Jack who never lets anyone too close finds himself blindsided by his feelings for Meredith.
I loved everything about this book from the hilarious banter to the red hot chemistry. I also adored Alfred and Edith! This was a fabulous story that kept me captivated from start to finish. I was instantly into this arrogant devil and couldn’t put this book down!
