CeeCee Tsosie is a Navajo Nation police officer and shaman with the ability to control the weather. She’ll admit arresting Jake Jones, a Coletti Warlord, for speeding was not one of her better decisions. But hey, the law was the law and the drop-dead gorgeous warlord pushed every one of her buttons. She might have been a tad over-zealous with her rainstorm and stun gun, but the Jackass had it … coming.
An alien serial killer is stalking the Navajo Nation. The Coletti Empire is hunting a galactic fugitive. Turns out they need each other’s help to stop the shapeshifting predator. Can she work with the Jackass? Can Jake convince CeeCee she’s the one? Only time, and the spirits will tell.

A Navaho Nation cop who happens to be a shaman clocks a speeding Coletti Warlord on her radar and suddenly CeeCee Tsosie finds herself on quite the alien adventure solving intergalactic crime and fighting off her pesky attraction to arrogant Jake Jones. This series brings the sizzle and the laughs with each new installment.
Arresting the Warlord is the twelfth entry in the Coletti Warlords series. It’s a series that is versatile in that it works best in order, but also there are places where a reader can jump in and do all right. This book is one of those place.
CeeCee is adopted by a Navaho Shaman when her mother is killed. She was five when it happened and has long sense learned to keep her Dragos family history secret while embracing her adopted father’s ways. She takes her work as a police officer seriously and can’t stand the arrogant way the Coletti used earth’s troubles to help themselves to their psychic women. Or, is it personal when Jake Jones gets under her skin and annoys her into giving away her psychic gifts during a routine traffic stop?
CeeCee put herself on the Coletti radar and specifically, Jake’s. While she is busy ducking and dodging the inevitable- because it is inevitable once a Coletti sets his sights on her, something is killing tribal shaman and it’s not human. Who is behind the creature’s attacks? The investigation takes this pair on an intense and sensual adventure together.
Each of the books in the series feature a feisty, skilled and tough female paired with a loyal and dedicated, but very arrogant hero. The tone is light and humorous even while some intense fight and battle scenes along with a bit of suspense fills in around the fiery and fast romances.
I’ve enjoyed meeting the Dragos women who like the Jones’ gals aren’t wimps and can take care of themselves though they tend to have different gifts than the Jones. CeeCee is able to see and communicate with ghosts and is able to manipulate weather like lightning and storms. But, all this power is paired with someone who has closed herself off because she was abandoned as a five year old by her dad and, though not her fault, her deceased mom. She doesn’t want to trust that Jake would be faithful and stick around. She also fears being coerced, but Jake is careful and tries to ease her into her new situation and buy her time. He, as a Jones, understands even as he tries to follow the Overlord’s orders.
As usual, I had a great time with the story and am curious what comes next for a certain Dragos’ woman and a determined Askole warrior particularly with a villain still on the loose. I can recommend this series for those who want light-hearted, but sexy sci-fi action romances.
Comic confusion is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of how to describe this romance
Ceecee is a fireball of contradictions.
She is not someone you want mad at you. But if you need a hand she’s your gal.
Well, once you reign in her temper that is.
From that first burst of rain she had me laughing, she doesn’t pull her punches.
Jake is a conundrum as well. When he first stepped foot onto the scene he was a self-absorbed arse but with each lightning strike () and cloud burst his armor slowly fell away exposing the softie beneath all that armor
Jake is seeking a missing warrior which has led him to the reservation where he thought he could just smash the gates and grab his answers – He didn’t count on the little terror that took him to task.
Ceecee the little terror mentioned above is assigned to work with him to solve the murders and she is not a happy camper.
After a bit of bumping heads a lot of misguided jabs
Yep you guessed it
All heck breaks loose and our little duo ends up battling a bigger problem
This was a very laid back and fast-paced read.
Lots of humor and action.
Some very smexy character interaction – these two were just a blast as a couple. The constant bickering with innuendo undertones. The sweet moments that occurred between them.
I was surprised at how much trouble our little heroine seemed to get into and how much they accomplished in a few days.
A great poolside or lunchtime read.
Loved Jake and CeeCee
CeeCee Tsosie lost her mother at age 5, to the assassin sent by her father’s family. Her father she doesn’t remember. She was raised by Samuel Tsosie, a power Navajo warrior and shaman. At 24, she is now a reservation cop, with some extraordinary psychic gifts.
Colette warrior Jake Jones, just got his ass handed to him by a petite cop. Arrested for speeding, his car impounded. He has to face his uncle Saul, in cuffs. On the upside, he just found his mate. The powerful little warrior isn’t going to be easy to claim.
The death of a Coletti warrior on reservation land has CeeCee and Jake working as partners. Jake using some sneaky tactics to claim CeeCee as his. Alien shape shifters. Traitorous Coletti warriors. Bjarke mercenaries, a mad scientist, and Askole warriors looking for mates, are all part of Jake and CeeCee new job as investigators/match makers for Zarek, is proving to be much harder than it should be.
A fun fast paced, and a little steamy romance.. Loved Jake and CeeCee. Uncle Jesse is a total badass. A surprise link between the Jones and Drago family. Story ends is a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for Jia and Tragon’s story.
ARRESTING THE WARLORD by Gail Koger is the twelfth book in the Coletti Warlord science fiction romance series. While it worked as a standalone book, I believe the situation on earth would be more quickly understood if the books were read in order. CeeCee Tsosie is a Navajo Nation shaman and police officer. She also has the ability to control the weather. When the catches Jake Jones, a Coletti Warlord, for speeding and ends up arresting him, it may not have been her smartest option. An alien serial killer is attacking people and CeeCee and Jake end up working together to stop him.
CeeCee and Jake are both strong protagonists with distinct voices and goals. The internal and external conflicts were well defined and the secondary characters enhanced the story. I loved the humor that existed throughout the book. However, the romance was somewhat too fast for my tastes. Part of this is likely due to the short length of the book. There were a couple of plot twists that kept things interesting and added to the depth of the book. There are also a couple of steamy scenes in the book.
Overall, this was an entertaining, fast-paced, and amusing read. I am looking forward to reading more of this series. If you enjoy science fiction romances, then this may be the next series for you.
I won a digital copy of this book in a Goodreads Giveaway. Thanks go to Goodreads and Gail Koger for the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
