I’ve inherited my sister’s fiancé.She had him first. Alessio Salvatore. Charming, gorgeous, and completely off-limits. I watched him propose and counted myself lucky when my sister said “yes” to the notorious gangster. I have plans for my life. None of them involve sleeping with the enemy, even if it’s to broker peace between our families. But when my sister mysteriously dies, my life turns … mysteriously dies, my life turns upside-down. I’m now the heir of my father’s assets, and without an arranged marriage, our families are on the brink of war.
Until my father gives Alessio an offer he can’t refuse.
Me.
——–
ALESSIO
I need Mia to understand three things:
1. We are getting married in a month.
2. I demand loyalty.
3. I want kids. Now.
I was meant to walk her sister down the aisle. A relationship with Mia would’ve been unforgivable. She was persona-non-grata forever until her old man gave me her hand in marriage.
How could I say no?
But wrangling the boss’ daughter is more trouble than I thought. When she’s not fighting her feelings, she’s fighting me. Never mind that we have more fireworks than dynamite. Or that we’re perfect together. Or that we’re marrying in a few weeks.
She hates me.
Too bad.
She’ll have to get used to me.
Author’s note: This is a dark, mafia arranged marriage, standalone romance. A young woman desperate to leave a life of crime and violence fights her arranged marriage to her late sister’s fiancé, a ruthless mob boss who demands three things from her: marriage, loyalty, and a baby.
As their wedding date approaches, Mia struggles with a decision that once seemed easy–escape his control or surrender to her heart?more
Alessio Salvatore life in the mafia was about loyalty. His loyalty and a tragic event brought him to Mia Ricci. After the unexpected death of her sister (Carmela, to whom he was supposed to originally marry), Mia was next up to marry Alessio due to a debt from Mia’s father and make the mafia stronger. Mia tried to fight the marriage (that includes making a baby) and her strong sexual attraction for Alessio. Then a chain of events happens and she begins to see the real Alessio and how family means everything to him. Alessio really wants a “normal” life away from the mafia but never found a reason why, until now. This book was amazing! I always love Vanessa Waltz’s stories and will continue to read them in the future!
Honestly, I know how difficult this book for Vanessa Waltz was to write based on her End of Book, but I felt it lacking, and sort of forced throughout most of the story. Granted, in the beginning I was all in for this story, and loved the back and forth between Alessio and Mia, but as the story went on and the dynamics of Mia’s story took shape, I actually didn’t like the way she was being written. Mind you, this is just my opinion, but she had such a backbone and put up such a fight to be independent, and it sounded like she was going to try to escape and fight with Alessio, but then poof, it seemed like she changed overnight. Maybe I read it differently than others, but that’s my opinion. It was an overall enjoyable story, and I think that if you like Mafia romances you should check this story out.

What a story, I couldn’t put it down and read it over two days (pesky job)! An arranged marriage is a story of a feared mobster with an awful reputation regarding his partners and sinks his hooks into his deceased fiancées little sister. The results are a whirlwind and unexpected romance with a twist to the tale I didn’t see coming! Lots of swooning and heart palpitations to follow, I cannot wait until the next book is released…

Vanessa Waltz did a fantastic job with this book. Alessio and Mia have fantastic chemistry. I loved everything about this story. Conflict, romance, drama. Even a little mystery. This is a story of two souls finding love that they didn’t expect to find.

Couldn’t put it down
Mia’s sister has disappeared and is considered dead. Her family is grief stricken, none more than Mia. To add to her sorrow, she has to take her sister’s place and marry a mob underboss to bind the two families together. She’s torn between betraying her sister, who didn’t want the marriage either, and marrying a man she both fears and is attracted to. What can she do?
Alessio may be connected but he’s a good man. He’s also attracted more to Mia that to her sister. Now that he has to marry Mia, he tries to let her see the good in him. But not everyone is happy about the marriage and he has to protect what is his. Can he show Mia his good side while still being the vicious underboss that he has to be to protect her?
What a wonderful story.
I can not imagine what it was like for Mia to know only loose her sister but be forced to married her sister’s Fiancé. I truly felt sorry for Mia. It was like she did not even have time to breathe little long grieve. I did love how stubborn she was and how sassy she was. She had this don’t give up attitude.
Alessio, man he was sexy. This bad boy that had one thing on his mind, marring Mia and starting a family. I truly felt for him. Here he was doing his best to give Mia everything she wanted and make her happy and she was not giving an inch.
There is a lot of chemistry, tug of war, and sexual aggravation in this story. I had to laugh at some point. They both so desired each other and one was just as stubborn as the other. I do love this protective they were of each other. Though we see it a lot with Alessio in this story we get to see it some with Mia as well.
Great story and glad I got a chance to read the book.
Great chemistry, great story! Loved it! These two were made for each other. Loved the story and recommend to all for a quick read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was good to see some of the characters from the other series. Just like all the other books, I NEED MORE. I like Mia but Carmela and their parents pissed me off. Alessio might be my favorite mob boss so far.

I normally don’t read dark Mafia romances but quickly fell in love with this one. Well written with lots of twists and turns. Strong female character with swoon worthy man. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series. Thank you for another great read.

I received this book for free to offer my opinion/review of the book, and even if I hadn’t I would still purchase this book. Let me say this book was awesome. I loved the relationship between Alessio and Mia, truly perfect. The dynamics between the two were out of this world. I wish there would have been more in the epilogue, but we got a lovable ending and that’s all that matters.

Alessio and Mia had a very rocky relationship, arguing, begging, pleading, anger, hurt. Yep that’s right all the feels. Yet they are perfectly matched. Mia didn’t take Alessio’s crap and Alessio didn’t let Mia verbally castrate him. Can’t wait to read more about this crazy group of people especially Michael.

Mia Salvatore’s dreams of being free to pursue her own life were ruined the moment her sister mysteriously dies, and she inherited her fiancé. Hating the Italian mafia life of violence, Mia flees only to run right into the arms of Alessio, mafia underboss of the Costa family. Although he is violent and dark, Alessio is romantic and caring – confusing both Mia and readers as we countdown to their wedding day. Snatching moments of deep passion and touching romance behind a backdrop of violence, rage, and war, Alessio and Mia fight each other to prove their love for one another. With themes of restraint and distrust bleeding through the pages, Mia, Alessio, and the reader are left to experience every betrayal and surprising plot twist together (and boy are there MANY). But never fear, unlike our couple, we can trust that Vanessa’s ending for our hero and heroine will be a happily ever after. We just don’t know the journey…
Told from dual perspectives, we readers learn that “falling for the devil means there’s darkness inside you, too.” And that’s not such a bad thing…devils have hearts too <3
Happy Reading!

What a wonderful book. I loved every minute of it. It is labeled as”dark”, yet I don’t feel it was as dark as some books can be. Alessio was a great character and strong when he needed to be. He did what he needed to do to survive. Mia was such a strong woman. Both it seems have always been attracted to one another, though neither let the other one know it. They had to go by what Alessio boss wanted as well as what Mia’s father expected of her. When they were forced into an arranged marriage and had to spend time with one another before the wedding date their chemistry was explosive. There were so many twists and turns along the way. Suspense, danger, intrigue as well as mystery involving what happened to Mia’s sister Carmela which brought on the new arrangement of Alessio and Mia. You will have to read this great book to find out the why behind the deal. I absolutely loved this book and the great HEA! I look forward to more of this type of book from Ms Waltz.

Will Alessio and Mia get what they want?
Vanessa quickly pulls you into the story of Alessio and Mia that you will not want to put the book down until you turn the last page. Alessio’s attraction to Mia and vice versa started when it was planned to unite the two mafia families between Alessio and Mia’s sister. Yet when Mia is faced with marrying Alessio, will she accept her future or run away. The plot twists will have you wondering who the bad guys are.
Dark Mafia isn’t a trope I frequently go to … but this was an interesting read. Mia and Alessio, though they were attracted to one-another, really didn’t know how to build a relationship amidst all the turmoil in their upbringing and lives. Sometimes people are meant to come into each others lives for a reason … as they did here. I thoroughly enjoyed the main characters and found those whose lives intersected theirs as interesting enough for future books. My only issue was the quick transitions in some areas of the book that had me paging-back to make sure I was on-target and that my Kindle had not accidentally skipped
