Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, faces a new challenge that threatens the balance of the world.Wings of silver. Wings of blue. Mortal heart. Broken dreams. Shatter. Shatter. Shatter. A sundering. A grave. I see the end. I see. . . .The world is in chaos as the … .
The world is in chaos as the power surge of the Cascade rises to a devastating crescendo. In furiously resisting its attempts to turn Elena into a vessel for Raphael’s power, Elena and her archangel are irrevocably changed. . .far beyond the prophecy of a cursed Ancient.
At the same time, violent and eerie events around the world threaten to wipe out entire populations. And in the Archangel Lijuan’s former territory, an unnatural fog weaves through the land, leaving only a bone-chilling silence in its wake. Soon it becomes clear that even the archangels are not immune to this deadly evil. This time, even the combined power of the Cadre may not be enough. . . .
This war could end them all.

***5 ‘For Your Anger and Your Love Both’ Stars***
For better or worse THIS is the book many have been waiting for and Ms. Singh went BIG.
Oh. So. Big.
I mean…74 chapters! True not all of them are long, but 74 chapters and holy hell do they all pack a punch. They brought out goofy, cheek creasing smiles. Utter frustration. Heart melting swoons. Heated anger. Horror. And heartbreak.
But then again. This is war.
War is destruction, chaos, love, hate, pain and joy. It exposes secrets while burying others. And it brings about change.
Now, not everything changes, there are some truths that are untouchable, unchangeable, but lots happen and, in all honesty, I’m still processing it all. The minefield in this one was huge, but it all worked for me. This does not mean that I was happy with all that happened, my reactions were numerous and varied, but I cannot deny that, in the end, they all needed to happen for this series to move forward.
I know this review is vague, but it needs to be. So much happens ~ the good, the bad, the ugly ~ and one needs to go into as blindly as possible. But what I will say is, regardless of how I feel about how certain things turned out ~ at least for now, this series remains one of my ultimate favorites ~ one that I am constantly re-listening to ~ and Ms. Singh my unicorn author. This world and characters draw me in every time and make me all kinds of happy just to hang out with them and leave me wanting more when there are no more words to read or listen to.
Archangel’s War was no different and I cannot wait to see where this series goes from here!

4.5 Stars!
To me, there is no better sign that you’re reading a good book, then when you stay up late to finish it. And I stayed up way too late finishing this one, but man was it worth the lack of sleep!
I don’t know about you guys, but after the way Archangel’s Prophecy left off, I have been dying to see what would happen next. And I’ve got to tell you, Author Nalini Singh does not disappoint. She pulls out all of the stops with Archangel’s War. Archangel’s War picks up right where the last book left off and just hits the ground running. If you had questions, I promise, your questions will get answered. This book exceeded my expectations and took me on one thrilling and entertaining ride.
One of the things I’ve come to love about this series is the authors creativity and the way that she contiues to build on to the world we’ve come to know and love. The plot is intricate and keeps you guessing. There is a lot going on, but in the best way possible. The action and danger keeps you on your toes and will keep your eyes glued to the pages!!
And then we have our dynamic duo: Raphael and Elena. I fell in love with these two when there were first introduced to The Guild Hunter Series and with each story, I have fallen harder for them. Their relationship is inspiring. They are partners in all things and only become stronger as time goes on. There is nothing these two can’t do or overcome. They are passion filled, unstoppable team, that will just leave you begging for more.
Archangel’s War was everything I was hoping for and then some. With a world in chaos and a looming war, Archangel’s War is destined to keep your eyes glued to the pages. There was action and intensity, war and suspense, romance and steam. I had a ton of questions and couldn’t wait to have them all answered. I loved seeing this story unravel and come together.
Archangel’s War is a thrilling and exciting ride. It ties up all of the loose ends and I couldn’t be happier with how things ended. I’m not sure if there is going to more to this series or not. I’m happy with how things ended, but at the same time, I’m hopeful that this won’t be the last that we see of these character or the Guild Hunter World…..
Listen, just read this book. You will find out what happened after that cliffhanger from the last book, you will see Elena and Raphael grow together, and you will get a big battle with Lejuan! You will love it. Trust me.
Nalini Singh continues to wow me with every book. Archangel’s War is holy shit good. The work put in to the previous books pays off BIG, and she opens such exciting new paths for the future novels. Emotional gut punch and big action? SOLD.
ARCHANGEL’S WAR is the twelfth instalment in Nalini Singh’s contemporary, adult GUILD HUNTER dystopian/ paranormal/ urban fantasy series focusing on Archangel’s, angels, vampires, shifters and hunters. ARCHANGEL’S WAR is the continuing story of New York’s Archangel Raphael, and his consort, human turned angel Elena Deveraux. ARCHANGEL’S WAR should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff-hanger of Archangel’s Prophecy wherein the Archangel’s are preparing for war against two of their own.
Told from several third person perspectives including Raphael and Elena ARCHANGEL’S WAR focuses on the prophecy having revealed death and destruction, resurrection and renewal in the wake of Lijuan’s madness, the Archangel of India, as she prepares to take over the world. With fellow Archangel Charisemnon by her side, Lijuan amasses an army of the undead as she slowly destroys the very people she protects, while making preparations to take down the Archangel of New York. Lijuan’s actions have triggered the Cascade (an event that causes massive power fluctuations and other changes among the members of the Cadre) but also an event that will see Raphael and Elena’s powers merge in an effort to protect the people they love. Lijuan’s growing power awaken the ancient Archangel’s from their ‘Sleep’ but an awakening that brings together Archangel’s from around the world.
ARCHANGEL’S WAR is an action-packed, spirited and edgy story about the madness for, and of, power; the dramatic actions of a psychotic and powerful mind; and the desperate fight to protect the innocent and the damned. Nalini Singh pulls the reader into an animated and forceful sequence of events; a character driven tale with epic results; and the mind numbing chaos and capability of the supernatural.
So much riding on this book and it did not disappoint!
The more I read of Raphael and Elena the more I love and admire these characters. Elena was a fierce warrior in this. Actually, she has been a fierce warrior in all the books. I love the way she has stayed true to herself and still evolved. She is one of my favorite heroines.
The way Raphael fights to stay a little bit human for Elena, even knowing that is considered a weakness to others, shows a man who loves his woman to the fullest. Out of all the Archangel’s he seems to be one who is feared by many and yet he has such compassion for others. It’s a deadly combination.
So many characters come out for this book, old and new. So much action took place that will make your head spin. So many nail biting moments. It was epic! There was not a cliffhanger but I also have no idea what to expect next. All I know is that I could read about these characters and never tire of them.
