Return to Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world with this New York Times bestseller, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, is thrust center stage into an eons-old prophecy… she’s regressing. Becoming more and more human. Easier to hurt. Easier to kill.
Elena and Raphael must unearth the reason for the regression before Elena falls out of the sky. Yet even as they fight a furious battle for Elena’s very survival, violent forces are gathering across the world. In China, the Archangel Favashi is showing the first signs of madness. In New York, a mysterious sinkhole filled with lava swallows a man whole. In Africa, torrential monsoon rains flood rolling deserts. And in Elena’s mind whispers a haunting voice that isn’t her own.
This time, survival may not be possible…not even for the consort of an archangel.

ends with a twist
I would not recommend this until the next in the series came out as this has a massive cliff hanger at the end. Without that end it would have had a higher rating.
Enjoy the entire Hunter Guild series
In the midst of powerful natural and unnatural disaster world-wide, an evil that only sleeps, and a love that transcends all between an archangel and his angel-made consort, an ancient prophecy threatens to rip the world and the lovers apart. The rising action of this latest book threatened to undo me with all response and emotion it pulled forth.
Archangel’s Prophecy is #11 in the Guild Hunter series that must be read in order.
Just when I thought this series might be waning and coasting into its finale, this book comes along and doesn’t just fan the flames, but pours an accelerate on it. This one offered up a game changer and I have no idea where it will lead other than the promise of a clash of titans between the evil that is Lijuan the Archangel of Death and Raphael and Elena.
Most of this one slowly built along two storylines set against the odd calamities of the Cascade. First, Elena is back in hunter action trying to track the person who tried to kill her brother in law and threatened her sister. The trail is dark and gritty as the bloody body count rises. Along side this suspense element is the inexplicable and nerve-wracking loss of her angel-hood and immortality. An ancient voice predicts her death so another can live, but Elena is a huntress and has no plans to cave to fate especially when Raphael’s warmth and love will die with her.
The book was riveting and I had to know the answers to both storylines. The love affair of Raphael and Elena was as endearing and strong as ever, time with Raphael’s Seven and their camaraderie is always good, friends and family time, tracking down a skilled killer, and Elena’s unbecoming were all blended into one fabulous story. It was steady and gave both exciting and introspective moments in turn though one of the plot threads did go from steady to rushed to get it finished by the end. I was totally in this one right up to the end.
The biggest plot thread is left dangling over a cliff. I saw the pages thinning as I neared the back of the book and had a bad feeling. After all the build up and now I must wait. So be prepared for that. Not that its a big deal this late in the series when it’s pretty much hardcore fans who will read the next book no matter what, but waiting… yeah.
All in all, another strong installment in the Guild Hunter series in this incredible world where powerful, militant angel’s rule, vampires and other magic users exist, and humans are definitely not at the top of the food chain. If you like action-packed paired with sensual and sparkling romantic pairings in a dangerous urban fantasy world, give these a try.
I wasn’t one hundred percent sold on Raphael, until this book. Even with all the terrible things happening and this mysterious prophecy, he lets Elena be her own person. Singh has built this incredible world full of characters that I want to read about for the rest of my life. At this point, I don’t know how I could tire of this series (oh please, don’t let that have jinxed this for me).
I did feel like a few things involving Elena’s condition could have been explained better or more in depth, but we may get that in the next book (I’m so impatient for that, you don’t even know). My personal favorite thing about this series is that each story matters. They all connect to create a larger story about the Cascade and the battle between good and evil. I can’t get enough of this series.
Whatever you think you know about the Guild Hunter series and whatever expectations you have, throw all those things out the window because all bets are off in Nalini Singh’s ARCHANGEL’S PROPHECY!
I absolutely could not put this book down! The story’s exciting and fast-paced with plot twists and turns that will give you whiplash! No words ever written are good enough to express the magnitude of what I’m feeling for this book. The characters are flawlessly and brilliantly crafted, the storyline is deeply complex and engaging and the fierce love between Raphael and his Elena is without equal!
There are so many wonderful, exasperating and unbelievable surprises in this book that I can’t really say anymore without giving things away. But what I can share is that the story takes place a few years after the events of ARCHANGEL’S VIPER. If you are not yet in love with Nalini Singh, you will be after this book!
I experienced so many emotions while reading the book. I laughed, I cussed up a storm, I cried, I cheered, I cussed some more and shed a lot more tears! I will say though, most of my cussing was because the story ends in a cliffhanger. I hope you don’t see this as a spoiler but as a heads up. As a reader, I know I’d rather be forewarned than blindsided. However, this ending doesn’t take away from how magical, wonderful and exciting the story is.
Hands down, ARCHANGEL’S PROPHECY is the BEST book I’ve read this year. And while this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I’d definitely recommend checking out the rest of the series too because it’s amazing! No one writes romance like Nalini Singh!

This series is different from the Psy Changling series but has wonderful characters and the storyline is great
Nalini Singh is one of my top three favorite authors (they rotate depending on who I am reading), and this series is a real thrill ride. Do read them in order though, or you will be lost.
A great series!
doesn’t end!!!!!!
This has been a fantastic series, following what was happening with Elena in this book was gripping.
I LOVE Nalini’s Guild Hunter series and this was the latest and most gut-wrenching book in that series. I can’t wait for the next book to answer so many of the questions that have been building over the whole series.
Wow! Quite a change from the normal Guild Hunter formula, which for me isn’t a bad thing.
I cannot believe how many people lose faith after one book ending a bit differently. I can’t believe you all forgot how the first book ended, with Elena in a year long coma state or something. This is EXACTLY like the first book that made you love this series. It’s damn fine storytelling. I completely believe the story that needed to be told probably became too long and the PUBLISHER probably decided on turning the book into two.
In all honesty, I was at the edge of my seat reading every word and freaking knew it wasn’t going to end good for my favorite couple. But the story was freaking excellent as always and I still have faith that Nalini Singh will give us the great happy resolution we crave. Do I want the next book now? Hell yes! The book was emotional and kept me up way too late. If a book evokes emotional responses, it’s excellent.
I’m sorry that people feel that publishing decisions are made just to cheat them. Boy, self-centered much? It’s not a betrayal to earn a living. If she doesn’t sell books, we can no longer read them as she will stop publishing. I’m afraid to tell you all, the publishing industry does not revolve around you. It revolves around what sells. But Nalini Singh herself just creates the stories and only has complete control over her independent published works. Her publisher makes a lot of decisions that Nalini Singh might compromise on.
It’s not a betrayal the story was longer than what was probably anticipated. But like ever long running TV show out there, the season finale sometimes has a cliffhanger. No one bashed Supernatural for having a cliffhanger every single season finale for 14 years. She’s trying to make a living here folks. If you can’t afford to buy them, there are excellent libraries. And guilting an author because dying people have to wait? Uh, excuse me, but I rather she write quality. Reading definitely is an escape but lots of readers DO like stories full of angst because it makes the HEA moment even MORE awesome. Why else are you reading a book about seriously unlikely lovers that shouldn’t actually work? A mortal and an archangel? If the romance was easy, it’d be boring.
I am eagerly waiting for the next book and STILL have complete faith in my favorite author here. At least she hasn’t created crazy romances where one of the main couple dies like other romance writers actually did.
I know a HEA is coming with Nalini Singh and I’m loving more Elena and Raphael books.
People really need to stop taking it personally. This isn’t a fake book teaser to get you to buy the next and the next for seemingly cheap prices, but when all’s said and done, you pay $22 for a small novel in serial format. That is cheating. A 400 page book is definitely not.
I highly recommend this book and if you’d get over yourself and your judgement, you would realized you paid a reasonable price for a slightly longer than normal book that pretty much ended similar to the first novel.
Humanity never ceases to depress me. So freaking blind to the other side because they only think it’s about them. It’s not. This is her career. She loves storytelling. Not all stories are easy to read. Those are the best of all.
The Guild Hunter series is amazing and this book doesn’t disappoint. Raphael and Elena’s story is an incredible ride. This one bringing tears.
I’m not entirely sure how to write this review. As I have stated before I am an avid fan of Ms. Singh’s books, be they GH, Psy-Changeling or Rock Hard, they are always well written and you cannot put them down until you’re done. However, as good as this was and we do see many insights into other characters past, present and future lives, I have to say that I did not love it. It breaks my heart to write this but it ends on a cliffhanger, much like the last GH book featuring Elena and Raphael and I have to say that I’m not sure where else this story could go. We still have Illium and Aodhan’s story, hopefully being published in the near future and I can’t see anything else happening to Elena and Raphael. There are cryptic sayings that we, as the readers, need to figure out to get even a glimpse of what is going to happen next. After this latest onslaught, I would think they deserve a break. I mean Elena goes through a lot of suffering in my opinion and their love is so pure, I just felt it was enough, that the Archangel and his Hunter-Mine deserved some serious R&R. Nevertheless, I will look forward to the next one and finally some closure and a HEA for these two. 3.5 stars
P.S. I am so glad I did NOT purchase this book. I simply waited for my library to have it available.
I love everything Nalini writes. Especially anything with Elena and Raphael. I know this is like a transition book and needed to tell a complete story. But I hate cliff hangers. Especially when there is a long wait. So for the first time ever I can’t give 5 stars to her. I really like having a complete story. This kinda made me mad.
Ack! Cliffhanger! No matter…I love all of Nalini’s books!! Can’t wait for the next in this series as well as her Psy-Changeling one.
OMG. I’ve waited ages for this and Nalini does not disapoint. The suspense bulids thru the book as we wait with baited breath to find out who the offender is. We also are holding our breath to see what effect the Cascade has on Raphael and on Elena herself. The reappearance of Cassandra shakes up the world – but is is real?
So well written, Nalini draws you in and leaves you unsure of what the next move will be……but you know there will be a next move. I cannot wait.
A great continuation to the series, and with such an ending that the wait for the next book feels interminable.
As a writer, it’s really difficult to stop looking for the ‘joins’ in books but Nalini Singh always immerses me in her worlds and the next thing I know it’s 2 a.m. I love Elena and Raphael and their romance just gets better and better. This is a real pageturner. Can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.
