THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERLieutenant Eve Dallas must hunt down the deadly snipers terrorizing Manhattan in this fast-paced In Death thriller from J. D. Robb. The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy. Within seconds, three people were dead at Central Park’s ice-skating rink. The victims: a talented young skater, a doctor, and a teacher. As random as random can be.Eve … teacher. As random as random can be.
Eve Dallas has seen a lot of killers during her time with the NYPSD but never one like this. A review of the security videos reveals that the victims were killed with a tactical laser rifle fired by a sniper, who could have been miles away when the trigger was pulled. And though the list of locations where the shooter could have set up seems endless, the number of people with that particular skill set is finite: police, military, professional killer.
Eve’s husband, Roarke, has unlimited resources—and genius—at his disposal. And when his computer program leads Eve to the location of the sniper, she learns a shocking fact: There were two—one older, one younger. Someone is being trained by an expert in the science of killing, and they have an agenda. Central Park was just a warm-up. And as another sniper attack shakes the city to its core, Eve realizes that though we’re all shaped by the people around us, there are those who are just born evil…

The best “In Death” book I’ve read! I really enjoyed it.
Kind of predictable
Have read the whole series and love the characters and their relationships.
Love the characters of Eve, Roarke, Peabody and all of the other colorful characters. They all make the series believable as well as enjoyable. You never know what twist will happen, so it keeps you in suspense.
Jd robb always writes a good yarn
Love anything by J. D. Robb. Storylines are believable even if it is in future…Action packed and so enjoyable.
I’m not someone that likes science fiction, and when the synopsis of the first book I read in the “In Death” series revealed it takes place in the future, I thought I wouldn’t like it. The only reason I read it is because of who the author is. What a surprise for me when I read it!! I’m totally hooked and am working my way through the whole series. They always end up being books I can’t put down and I simply love these characters. Any fan of Nora Roberts will love these books, too.
I’m a big fan of JD Robb and her In Death series. I never tire of reading this series.

Always an incredible series.
JD Robb books are my utmost favorite. Once started I cannot put it down until I finish . Excellent writer. Haven’t found one yet that wasn’t great.
Fast paced with a cast of familiar and strong characters. Eve is up to her eyeballs with a former cop and his daughter taking long distance revenge on perceived persecutors. Still discovering her human side Eve identifies with the kid but learns soon enough that they’re really nothing alike.
A lot of action. It’s the growing relationships between the characters the Keeps me reading the In Death books. Two new books a year.
Well, now I have another author to read! Enjoy the futurism casually part of the storyline. Refreshing update to increasingly crowded – and repetitive – genre.
I have become addicted to books by J.D. Robb. I look forward to each one, and read it as soon as possible.
Absolutely love the “in death” series.
I can never put her books down!
