THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERLieutenant Eve Dallas must hunt down the deadly snipers terrorizing Manhattan in this fast-paced In Death thriller from J. D. Robb. The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy. Within seconds, three people were dead at Central Park’s ice-skating rink. The victims: a talented young skater, a doctor, and a teacher. As random as random can be.Eve … teacher. As random as random can be.
Eve Dallas has seen a lot of killers during her time with the NYPSD but never one like this. A review of the security videos reveals that the victims were killed with a tactical laser rifle fired by a sniper, who could have been miles away when the trigger was pulled. And though the list of locations where the shooter could have set up seems endless, the number of people with that particular skill set is finite: police, military, professional killer.
Eve’s husband, Roarke, has unlimited resources—and genius—at his disposal. And when his computer program leads Eve to the location of the sniper, she learns a shocking fact: There were two—one older, one younger. Someone is being trained by an expert in the science of killing, and they have an agenda. Central Park was just a warm-up. And as another sniper attack shakes the city to its core, Eve realizes that though we’re all shaped by the people around us, there are those who are just born evil…

Have enjoyed all books in this series.
I enjoy reading these stories by JD Robb. They follow in sequence. So I recommend you start with the early ones to understand what is happening in this one.
J. D. Robb always writes interesting books. They keep moving along without dead space. A lot of action( she is a homicide cop, after all) but nothing unrealistic. This one has a twist that I wasn’t sure if I should feel sorry for the apprentice. She never had a chance.
Favorite author. Books always keep one interested. Serious futuristic.
J.D. Robb never disappoints. This is one I’ll read again.
I’ve been reading the “In Death” series for years and eagerly await the next book to continue the story of Eve Dallas, Rourke & Peabody!! I am totally wrapped up in the characters and enjoy the word play between Eve & her steamy husband!
JD Robb never fails to deliver a great book. My favorite author! The story is tense and exciting.
I love all of the “In Death” books. Set in the future -2061- this books blends realistic with futuristic events. Strong women and men characters diverse enough to keep turning the page.
Don’t start it unless you have the time to finish it because you won’t be able to stop it.
Mass killings in public places by an expert shooter. A sniper used a tactical laser rifle from miles away. Everyone gets involved in figuring out the Who, Why, and the Where. Fast moving and a good read. For those of you that read the series Eve gets new toys and things from Roark. I can’t wait until the next book when she puts them to use. Those who are reading this series for the first time the story can stand on its own..
As with all of the books in this series you have Eve Dallas and Rourk, and the usual characters of Peabody, McNabb. It is always a page turner and always makes me want to meet these characters. The crimes are always terrible and getting the killer makes for a page turning story. I LOVE this series.
All of JD Robb’s books are the best reads
I have read most of her books. Like the action, the story line, and the people relationships
I love JD Robb.
As usual J.D. Robb delivers a stunner. Undeserving people died but Eve Dallas gives these people justice. Along the way I learned a bit about computers and how they work. Always enjoy the interaction btwn Dallas and Roarke.
I liked it, but not as much as some of the other series.
