Will the demons of the past ruin any hope for the future? If there’s anyone who knows how to have a good time—be it with a man or a woman—it’s Ryder Pearce. Master of the nail-it-and-bail-it theory, he lives his life for one person and one person only: himself. When a man enters Ryder’s life who challenges him on every flirtation, every sexual innuendo he can come up with, Ryder’s thrown off his … thrown off his game in a big way. Because there’s one thing the man has made perfectly clear—they’ve played this game before, and Ryder doesn’t remember the outcome.
Avery Hamilton has seen all of Ryder’s moves and has witnessed his sex appeal. He knows all too well about his cocky sense of humor and his penchant for one-night stands. There was a time in his life when he’d taken the bait, but this time around, he wants more. He’s seen Ryder’s act; what he hasn’t seen is Ryder—the real Ryder he hides from the world.
When both men come together to help a young boy, Ryder’s forced to face things from his past he’s blocked out. Things he never wanted anyone to know. Now, Ryder has one fear… Will revealing that side of himself be real enough for Avery? Or will it be the reason Avery walks away?

I have wanted to read Avery and Ryder’s story as soon as their snipe-and-snark routine showed up in book one. Their story did NOT disappoint. From the very start we get all that intrigued us when we met them and then we saw under their skins while they got under one another’s. With plenty of their banter for continuity, this story deepened all of their interactions, gave meaning, showed change, and gave us all the feels. There were a couple things that bothered me, but overall I’d be hard-pressed to let any of that decrease my rating. These men just grabbed hold and didn’t let go, so who am I to do any differently?
Avery was more interesting than I initially thought he’d be. He wasn’t nearly as uptight and stodgy as he came across when we met him. In fact, there were a few moments that I wasn’t even sure I was reading about the same character. Not that we were seeing a completely different side of him, but more like they were pieces of different people that I had a hard time reconciling. It all came together in the end though and I loved that he had his own “big gesture” moment. Sometimes it’s up to only one character to bust out the big guns to fix things, but in this case, each man needed to break free and pull out all the stops in their own way.
Ryder’s big moment seemed to happen over and over. His past was darker, more painful than anyone could have known and it’s through a lost boy that he finds all kinds of triggers that force him to face it all. Without those heartbreaking moments he would never realize just how much he needed what Avery could offer. Finding the courage to take what’s being offered though, that’s the rub. Their sexual chemistry is super hot, but even Ryder realizes that that’s just not enough when hearts could become involved.
We always knew something went down between Avery and Ryder, but it isn’t until maybe the halfway point that we find out exactly what happened. And then when we find out why the situation rankled Avery so badly, it’s way more complicated than expected. That’s pretty much the story of this story though, that emotional complexity is king. Nothing is as simple or as straightforward as either man would have us believe; even they don’t fully realize the depth of all that they’re experiencing and reacting to. Watching them sift through the mess, find a way to come together because of and in spite of it all, and discover their worth and their place…it’s beautiful. I loved this ride and am really looking forward to the next story that’s sure to pack an angst-filled punch.
This has got to be one of my all time favorite found family stories! So many emotions, ghosts from the past and inner turmoils! It had me in tears more than once just to make me laugh a second later with amazing banter between the MCs.
Awesome story!
Appeal to You is such a fabulous story that both broke my heart and fixed it right back up. Jaclyn Quinn consistently writes wonderful books with original plots, well developed characters and secondary characters, and words that pull you in. And I say this every time she releases a new book, but this one is my new favorite. The struggles of Ryder and Avery individually are heart breaking but their stories are lightened up with witty, sexy, sarcastic banter between the two. And as they both overcome their pasts and finally realize that they are both ready and worthy of a family and of great love, it’s magic.

Oh, my word! What an emotional and compelling read!!!
I’m just loving this series, it’s so raw and real! I loved getting to know more about Ryder and Avery. Jaclyn’s writing is able to open your heart and make such real and compelling characters you can’t help but feel for. I always knew there was more to both Avery and Ryder and I’m so glad we finally got their story. Little did I know it would be a rollercoaster of emotions!
Ryder has had a hard life and what he had to do to survive is heartbreaking. His heart and strength are a lot bigger than he takes credit for and when a sad, lonely and scared 12-year-old boy needs help, Ryder (and Avery) step up! I really enjoyed the character progression of Ryder; it was very realistic and authentic. He needed to grow in himself before he was able to move forward how we all wanted him to and the way Jaclyn did this was exceptional! I love it when a writer is authentic to real life and doesn’t just make the character fit the society mold! It makes for a more authentic read and allows us to relate more to the real-life ideals where this story could occur!
The journey Avery and Ryder take has all the ups and downs but is still wonderfully challenging and heartwarming. Lust has always sparked between them and after a year, so much flirting and denial, they finally give in. When Ryder’s past comes back to haunt him Avery is there and he is patient, caring and supportive even when Ryder pushes everyone away. This is a great story of hope, healing and finding your place. I’m so glad Avery and Ryder overcome their issues to be together! I look forward to more stories from this collection of colorful characters and the awesome patchwork family they’ve made together! Another great read!!!

This is another awesome addition to The Beyond the Cove series. Avery and Ryder are so sweet, funny, and hot together. Ryder just breaks your heart when his demons come out but Avery is there to lead him out of the dark into a loving future. Love it!
Opposites do attract!
Ryder and Avery are total opposites, or so they think! Ryder, a flirt and a jokester, allows himself to be the life of any conversation when he is with his friends. Avery, focused, serious, and seemed oblivious to Ryder’s flirtations!
But behind the silly goofball is someone who has gone through a shitty childhood, a childhood full of neglect and attention from the wrong people. He hides it all behind a carefree, devil-may-care attitude that covers his real character. But Avery is starting to see the real person behind the outrageous flirt, and he is at a loss as to how to deal with this person.
Helping each other look for a missing child is forging a new friendship or maybe, a relationship? Making sure that this child do not get lost in the foster care system is a task that Ryder plans to see through, and Avery is right there with him, helping him any way he can.
This story brought so much feelings to the surface, despair, helplessness, sadness (for Ryder who went through bad things while in the system), vulnerability (for both Ryder and Avery), hope, friendship, love and family. It is a very well-written story that illustrates how a person can become resilient and do what they can in order to survive. It brings hope to people who are down in their luck, people who think they had it bad. There is a thought that states if you think you had it bad, there are still people who has it worse than you!
Realizing that both of them deserve happiness because of who they are is something that both our MCs need to see, that they can have what their friends have, love and family! A very beautiful story! Thank you Ms. Jaclyn Quinn and Congratulations!
I’ve finished this yesterday and than sat down and started writing the review and I couldn’t put anything in writing because my head was all over the place. This series and these men have a special place in my heart. With every book I discover something band someone new to love and Avery and Ryder are no different.
They both have hearts of gold. While my heart bled for all that had happened to Ryder, I couldn’t help but fall madly in love with Avery. The patience, understanding and unconditional love he gave to Ryder after he learned about his past was something so beautiful I was a sobbing mess for half of the book. It was absolutely amazing to see the way Ryder starting to open up more and more with each interaction either with Avery or Chris. I loved the pace how they came from annoying each other to be head over heels in love with each other.
This series gets better and better with each couple. I can’t wait to see who’s up next to find his HEA in this close connected “family”.

I skipped book two in the series so I could read about the tension between Avery and Ryder that was brought to light in book one and I’m so happy I did. This story made me laugh and cry and sigh. Chris and Ryder broke your heart with their insecurities and needed Avery to swoop in and show them love and family. Their happily ever after was amazing and now I cannot wait to get Parker’s story!
Blitzed a 3rd book today from my TBR. So happy that Ryder and Avery get their sh*t together and realise their snarling at each other is meant to be together tension! This is a great read with a happy ending! Was also great to catch up with characters from earlier reads by the author!
One man can’t remember. One man can’t forget. Ryder, tattoo artist, sexy with somewhat of a troubled past. Avery, lawyer, smart, still dealing with the loss of his best friend. One thing he doesn’t need is to give in to the temptation of Ryder. Man, these two characters! Ryder and Avery are so fantastic together. Their chemistry is a thing of beauty. I sat down and read this book in a day. It’s that good. I love me a great opposites attract, and this one hits the spots. It will also hit you in the feels. I enjoyed this book, not to mention the whole series. It just keeps getting better and better! This is an ongoing series and I do recommend reading the books in order to get the full benefit of the storyline, as characters do crossover from book to book. If you haven’t tried this series yet, I highly recommend you give it a try.
Appeal to You by Jaclyn Quinn is the third book in the Beyond the Cove series. It is sweet, funny, steamy, suspenseful and filled with lots of emotion. Ryder and Avery are amazing characters with strong connection and chemistry. The story is well written with fantastic character development. This story sucks you into their world and you become invested in the journey. I needed a Happily ever after for them all. This series is so good and this book is the perfect addition to that.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
And another two bite the dust!
Starting with the first book of the Beyond The Cove series,Avery and Ryder have been providing a big part of the entertainment with their interactions. Outrageously flirty Ryder would say anything to get a rise out of stern Avery. I was looking forward to the occasions they would be in the same room because it guaranteed laughter, innuendos and snarky comments.
In Appeal To You things are bound to change and get serious. When 12 years old Chris loses his grandmather and finds himself without any other living family, his rough, sad circumstances bring back all the dark childhood memories Ryder has been trying to bury deep inside his mind. It was hard to see sunny, cheeky Ryder spiraling out of control. On the upside, though,he also shows a different side of his personality to Avery,a side that only makes Ryder more irresistible to Avery, and even more difficult to fight the simmering attraction and need.
Ryder and Avery’s story is one of self discovery, inner conflict and personal growth. Both men are confronted with their insecurities and fears, with hard choices and responsibilities. They come from hugely opposite backgrounds and at times it seems like they can’t find a middle ground. Although it’s a rough, heartbreaking journey to witness,I was so happy when they eventually found the strength to trust, open their hearts and just love.
Appeal To You welcomes you into the warm embrace of family. It’s a messy, meddlesome, crazy family but full of laughter, sadness, joy and love.
I loved it!
I fucking loved this book!!! My absolute favourite in this series!! Avery and Ryder are perfect for each other. This book broke me into pieces and then put me back together. This is dual POV and while it’s a standalone I do recommend reading the series in order.
Ryder and Avery have dancing around each other for so long and we finally get their story! I knew this book was going to be epic but this was beyond my expectations. I loved their interactions and ofcouse the smoking hot sex scenes!
Chris is amazing Such a lovable kid. I love the family dinners with Eli and Jake, Nick and Dylan and their friends. My heart broke when Ryder talked about his childhood. I could feel the pain and I really wanted to hurt someone. Avery is possibly the only one to peal back his layers.
If it’s isn’t already clear, I looooove this book!! Absolutely recommended!!
I can’t wait for Parker’s book and ofcourse Mason,Grant and Sawyer!! Looking forward to them!
