Fate isn’t something to mess with and now, neither is Alex. Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods-and Alex herself-to bring her back. The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking … taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole an Apollyon can’t be killed theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries. Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer or she might become the God Killer herself.

What a cliffhanger! This one broke my heart. The themes of guilt and survivors guilt were very well done.
“To love is not weak. Love is the strongest thing there is.”
At this point in the series Alex has awakened and connected to Seth. And let’s just say that she is a completely different Alex now and she has one thing on her mind. Getting free and getting to Seth. Aiden, however, isn’t giving up on Alex and is determined to find a way to get her to break the connection. Meanwhile out in the rest of the world shit has gotten serious. There are catastrophic earthquakes, tsunamis, devastating wildfires and several countries on the brink of war. Needless to say, the gods are pissed due to the events that occurred in Deity.
This is the book where I wanted to punch Alex in the face. Yep, I said it. Now, normally I love Alex but not when she is evil Alex. And that’s exactly what she was while she was connected to Seth. She constantly threatened Aiden, Deacon, Marcus and all the others. And I won’t even go into the whole “my Seth” thing because it annoyed the hell out of me and made me want to gag. As Alex said “My Seth? Oh, yuck. I wanted to scrub out my brain with detergent.” Luckily we don’t have to deal with evil Alex for very many chapters. She’s finally able to break her connection to Seth and become herself again. Once Alex is back to normal we get to see how much Alex has matured after everything that has happened to her and I really enjoyed that.
I swear my love for Aiden grows with every book. His absolute and unconditional love for Alex is inspirational. He never doubted that Alex was still in there and that she would find her way back. I also enjoyed seeing a different side to him in Apollyon. We see that he has insecurities and doubts about his choices in life, especially when it comes to Alex and Deacon but that doesn’t stop him from being just has fiercely protective and loyal as before.
Now on to Seth. I’m glad that we don’t really see that much of him in this book. I know that he is being manipulated and lied to but he also refuses to listen to Alex when she is trying to get through to him. Honestly, rereading this has made me realize just how much I couldn’t stand Seth in this series.
Honestly I could go on and on about this book. Between the characters that appear, the journeys that are made, and the unexpected twists, it’s a wild ride. And the foreshadowing in this series is incredible. When certain things are revealed I want to do a face palm because I feel like I should have known. I already love all of Jen’s books so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I absolutely love this one as well.
It took me way longer than it should to finish this book, but between work, looking after a new puppy and pregnancy-caused exhaustion, it was really difficult to find time to read. But last evening I finally managed to finish it!
Alex has been taken off the Elixir and is now back to playing for Team Seth. I honestly wanted to hurl during those chapters when Alex was connected to him and kept on referring to him as “my Seth”. It really was vomit-inducing. I honestly contemplated skipping those chapters but somehow I managed to get through it. Thankfully, Alex did not disappoint me and eventually managed to break the connection. I did not expecting anything less from her. After all, this is Alex we are talking about and this girl does not like being told what to do.
Talking about Alex, while I still adore her, I could not help but feel like she is a little self-absorbed. She seems to think that the world revolves around her. Don’t get me wrong, I still love her and I think she is totally kick-ass and I love how she always does the right thing. But there were moments when she just thought about herself and how a particular situation will affect her. But I guess all of us are a bit vain sometimes, so a girl who is the Apollyon and who is fearless and not afraid to stand up to anything has earned to have head bigger than us regular folks!
We also find out the real reason why Lea and Alex hate each other and let’s just say that Alex was not a nice person growing up. She was a horrible bully and while she acknowledged that the way she acted towards Lea was not right, she never once apologized to Lea’s face.
My adoration for Aiden has reached all time high. Can this man get any more perfect? No, no he can not. All the while Alex was playing for the other team, Aiden never lost faith in her and always trusted Alex to find her way back to him. His unconditional love for her is for ultimately made her break the connection with Seth. That is what you call true love right there. And finding out what kind of horrible things this beautiful man thinks about himself truly broke my heart. I wish he saw himself like we are see him – as this strong, loyal, totally badass and compassionate man.
I absolutely adore Aiden’s brother Deacon. He is much more perceptive than people give him credit for. While he jokes around a lot of the time, he can be also very serious and can deliver really impressive life lessons. He deserves way more credit than he is given and I am so happy to see Aiden not trying to keep him in the dark all the time, but rather keeps him in the loop about what is going on.
I am having mixed feelings about Seth. When I first read this series, I absolutely loathed him. But then I read the Titan series and he completely won me over. Now I am re-reading this series and I have absolutely no idea how to feel about him. Part of me hates him, while the other part loves him. While I also feel sorry for him. It is a whole big mess of emotions. He is a total psychopath and he did a lot of horrible things, but he is also blinded by the sheer desire to be loved and accepted and there is something so tragic about that, because people are known to do crazy things for love. I really want Lucian to suffer a really painful death for exploiting a young man like that.
A lot happens in this book, while also nothing at all. A lot of the book is spent planning what to do about Seth and Lucian and about the god that is pulling all the strings. There are some major revelations that made my jaw drop and I honestly wanted to hit my head off of something for being so stupid not to have seen it sooner. Even though this is a re-read, I completely forgot about that particular piece of information. Kudos to Jennifer for throwing that kind of plot twist into the mix!
While it is not required, I really recommend reading Elixir before diving into this one. It will give you better understanding of what happened between Deity and Apollyon while also will make you understand just how devastating it was for Aiden to put Alex through something like that and he was marked by it.
(Reread Review)
This review may contain some vague spoilers, not detailed plots, but still spoilers.
Apollyon starts where Elixir left of. Alex it’s still connected to Seth completely bat shit crazy and wanting to murder everyone. After being put on the elixir she is even more mad and determined to get revenge on the people some weeks ago she considered friends, family, and the man she loved. We go back to Alex POV in Apollyon and seeing how her mind is working with this freaky connection is kind of scary…. Everything that made her who she was it’s just…gone. Just like she feared. The only thing that remains is that she still doesn’t like or trust Lucian, which is smart because we all know who the real evil is here, Lucian and whatever God is behind him. We get to see little of Seth in this book and the few we see its in Alex mind while they are connected, and man, I love Seth, but everytime I read Deity/Elixir/Apollyon I am so mad at him!! Not just the things he does, but the things he says, he is so lost, and he doesn’t even see it.
And then there is Aiden and crew, after everything that happened in Elixir the rest of the gang is supporting Aiden in giving Alex a chance in believing she will manage to break free of the connection hold on her, even if that means going up against the Gods, even Apollo. Aiden never gives up on Alex even when the shit hits the fan and she breaks free, and runs off and Aiden risks everything in that moment including his life to make sure the Gods don’t get to Alex, and to get her back, and because love conquers all, Alex comes back, her love for Aiden is what finally gets her out of that nightmare and back to herself, the connecting still there but not having full control of her anymore.
After that the plans starts to roll down, they need to do something to stop this madness, with Alex back to herself and Apollo back on their side they start setting things in motion and preparing for war…. Alex and Aiden have a few problems to resolve on this book, but they are yin and yang and they love each other so much and they work out everything together, they go on this super awesome special trip for something related to the main plan of action and that trip its wow. Jen really delivers on the mythical and magical and the really awesome on that trip. Alex also discovers something really big….something awful.
We finally meet the Covenant University in this book and to get there they go through hell, and there is a loss that surprisingly affects more than you would think. The end of this book has a major anguish moment…we finally meet the God behind everything and its not pretty, the bastard is sick and something horrible happens in the last 10% of the book. I cried reading that, I was panicking, screaming at my kindle, my brain having trouble understanding what I was reading. That is a scene that no matter if it was my first read or a reread it crashes me completely everytime. The first time around I wasn’t expecting that but now, rereading? I kept remembering THAT was getting closer and got so anxious, like “I am not ready to read this again”.
The gang starts to have major roles now. Olivia goes back to her not bitch mode and she is still suffering because of Caleb but she is also so strong and determined! Lea is a surprise! I actually like her in this book, she is still a bitch, but a cool bitch. Marcus and Alex family bond also grows a lot in this book and it’s so sweet seeing them bonding, Marcus changes a bit and we learn to like him. Solos is awesome! He is this flirting and funny Sentinel, who doesn’t give a shit about anything most of the time but will fight to the dead for his friends and what he believes in! Laadan continues to be the mother figure of the group, and yes, she is still in love with Alex’s dad. And then Deacon and Luke…..I love those two!!!! Deacon is the best, he is this comic relief character but he is also super smart and observant, more then people give him credit for…all except Luke, because Luke sees right through the bullshit and who Deacon really is, and how amazing he is, and on the other hand Deacon is the soft and happy for Luke’s always alert and serious side, they are perfect together there is a small short story about them on Jen’s Wattpad and it’s the sweetest thing! Also, Deacon’s reaction everytime Apollo is around is priceless.
But back to the story….The final war is here and fans of the Covenant series get ready because things will get worst before they get better and its going to be an amazing but harsh ride, but our heroes are awesome and they face it head on and the end is almost here!

: Apollyon
: Covenant #4
: Jennifer L. Armentrout
: 5/5
This book was again so action packed that I did not want to stop reading. In the beginning it was hard for me to be in Alex her mind sometimes, but it was also understandable. Her character development is soo good, over the last couple of books and especially this one she is growing up so much. Next to Alex there are also so many other good characters and I love the balance and banter they bring to the story. If I didn’t love Aiden before (which I did), I would love him even more now. There is way more “steam” in this book and I really liked it. I am not going to say much more since I really don’t want to spoil anything about the plot. Just make sure to read this series and I cannot wait how everything will be tied up in the last installment!

There are not enough words as to how I liked this Book.
Apollyon is everything I thought it would be and then some, When I read Deity last year I was sure there was nothing anyone can do to top that book, but then Jennifer L. Armentrout published Apollyon and Ohh my Freaking God!!!!
This book is by far the best book I´ve ever read from this author. She did it again, she hit every single nerve; I laughed, cried and even got a little too excited at times.
Yes I have my panties up in a twist and I can’t deny it. I’m shocked… Traumatized is a better word for what I´m feeling.
All the storylines are finally being rounded up in anticipation for the final book of this incredible one of a kind series. The plot thickens at every page turn but at the same time we get answers to several long asked questions.
iden is just so perfect, he´s protective, supportive and knows how to make a woman feel loved. In this book we see different sides of him, the sentinel, the brother and the man. His fears and insecurities make him as endearing as ever plus he´s simple and inexplicably HAWT!!!
Alex grows exponentially, after the event of Deity; she becomes a somewhat mature woman, that at the very least tries her hardest to do what her brain thinks best and not what her gut tells her to do. LOL!!!!
Her relationship with Aiden blossoms in a way that had me all teary eyed on more than one occasion.
There was a pause and his heart picked up under my cheek. “I´m terrified of what you´re going to face- what you have to do and how it´s going to affect you.”
Aiden is an incredible, sensible man but at the same time, knows what needs to be done and is not afraid to put even his life at risk. In his mind I believe is very simple, he will help Alex do what she needs to be done or die trying; The fact that they at least had this book, that they were able to find the little comfort they could on this book is in some way what keeps me from being a crying mess right now, cause no matter what happens next, they at least had all those stolen moments.
It´s so hard to try and explain all the amazing things this book, has to offer without giving away too much, I pride myself saying that Book Addict is a spoiler free blog, but Damm is it difficult this time.
I wish I could, tell you every single thing I laughed about, every part where my heart was ripped out of my chest or every time I wanted to hold Aiden or Alex and tell them everything was going to be ok.
The book is intense, there´s always something going on, It´s action packed and simply in one word, it´s perfect.
I wouldn´t wish for anything different, I just wish I had Sentinel in my hands already, cause my heart is bleeding thinking of all the different outcomes and I need to know now!!!!
Apollyon is the fourth book in the Covenant series. Ahhhhhh this book was just so good. I just loved getting to go back in this great series and see what Alex and Aiden are currently getting themselves into. It was just so much fun getting to go along for the ride and I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series.
How could you leave me hanging like that? Just when Aiden and Alex start to have a breakthrough things keep crashing down around them. How many times can poor Alex “almost” die? My guess is not too many more. I love Aiden and how love is conquering fate. I really was let down by Seth in this book, I am hoping that he comes to his senses and is redeemed in the final book. I loved their banter from before and missed it in this book.
Things really come to a head in this installment. Poor Aiden continues to suffer the abuse from Alex, all the while keeping the faith that she’ll severe the connection to Seth on her own. It’s beautiful how he feels about her in giving her that trust, even when everyone else has given up hope. Every girl’s dream.
Of course, the real battle is soon to come and Team Alex is striving to find a way to keep Seth from becoming the god-killer.
Some of the things in this novel are dark but needed. I love the dynamics between all of the characters and the twists in the plot I almost never see coming. I hate psycho-Alex, but her normal self is a strong girl whom I think most of us can relate to. Of course, my favorite god is still Apollo. He’s just great. So while this installment was as usual excellent, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the previous ones, so I give it 4 stars!!
Love the books. I own all of them and read them so many times there that good.
