YES! Kate Stewart has done it again! But that’s not a surprise to me. She excels in every thing she writes. She’s my favorite author and she never disappoints. Anything but Minor is another smash! Home run!
I loved Alice. My god how I loved her! She was so humble, brave and down to earth. Her quirky sides were hilarious and relatable. I could easily see myself in her with her obsession with 80’s movies(I’m an 80’s girl) and Google but who can’t! Just genius Kate Stewart. I think I might have a girl crush on Alice. She was nothing but spectacular in every way. From her smart brains, to her sensible attitude and beautiful, good heart.
Rafe made me swoon continually. I loved how he came off as a cocky and sexy ball player but showed so much depth, love and determination behind his abs and good looks. Alice and Rafe clicked instantly for me. They complemented each other perfectly. Alice might come off as a nerd but Rafe SAW her. For who she truly was and embraced every quirky side of her. He even gained some of hers. I felt their connection and jumped aboard the Alice and Rafe train. It was funny and romantic with some sexy times too. Very sexy indeed and I loved and devoured them. I loved Alice and Rafe! Together and individually.
The secondary characters were spot on as well. Dutch, Andy and Kristina were fabulous and important to the story. To Alice and Rafe. I was interested in them and they mattered to me. That’s just one of the many reasons why I love Kate Stewart! Every character has something that intrigues me, fascinates me and here it was all of them. Stewart’s writing is excellent as usual. She keeps me glued to the pages and rereading sentences because they hit something within me. She tried a new genre, the romantic comedy genre and she masters it. To perfection. It had everything I could have asked for in a Kate Stewart book and more. She just proved why she’s my favorite author. So much heart, soul and love. In her writing, her stories and her characters.

Alice is starting her new life in Charleston as a flight instructor. She is ecstatic to be breaking away from her oppressive mother and is bound to make every day her best day ever in her new life in Charleston. So when her new life gives her a sign to attend a minor league baseball game, she also finds a whole new set of friends but most importantly she finds Rafe, one of the pitchers on the local Charleston team. Rafe has been playing ball his whole life and is waiting for the call to the big leagues. He knows this will be the year they call him up and nothing will stand in the way not even Alice, the girl he wasn’t expecting and didn’t want to fall head over heals in love with.
Alice was hilarious. I adored her and her zest for life. All of her antics had me laughing out loud quite a bit. I couldn’t get enough of her. Rafe on the other hand took some warming up to. He was a bit cringey at first and I wasn’t sure I would like him but he did grow on me. I also felt like his back story was lacking. I still really enjoyed the heck out of this but felt that Alice is the one that carried this story for me.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author. I loved this book and the characters. The banter between Rafe and Alice was pretty funny, the girl just had no filter. And omg the parasailing scene had me laughing so hard. This book was super cute not overly angsty was well written and kept me engaged throughout. Was just an over all good story and look forward to the next book.
3 silly but best day of my life stars
So this book fits into the romance comedy and sport romance genres, and it was sweet and I’ll call it silly kind of humor .
April is a movie nerd , and a very young female puppet turned pilot instructor who has no filter when she talks and does some really silly stuff because she’s clumsy and loves trying new things but doesn’t always think it through . She’s out to start her new life in a new town and she’s willing to give anything a go. She’s also a lover or googling things for facts and doing ‘research’ on everything .
Rafe is a pitcher in. The minor leagues of baseball but hopeful for his break to the major leagues and soon. He’s a ladies man and player to start with but once he meets April His whole world view shifts and he changes for the better . He’s sweet and kind and loving and loves April’s quirks!
Overall I liked the story but it didn’t make me laugh out loud (maybe not my humor completely , ) .
I’ve fallen for Kate Stewart’s writing so I’m diving into her library of books.
Nothing But Minor was a hilarious love story with one of the quirkiest, lovable heroines and a hero who loves the heck out of her.
Rafe is a pitcher in the minor leagues about to get the ball to the big show. He’s also quite the playboy and definitely not looking for a relationship since he’s hoping to leave soon for MLB. That however doesn’t stop him from pursuing Alice once he sets his sights on her.
Alice has made a clean getaway from her strict live in Ohio under her mother’s thumb. Now she’s on her own in a new city with a new job and ready to embrace all of it. She’s just not ready to another notch in Rafe’s bedpost.
This book was all about Alice to me. She was just too cute and utterly hilarious. She has an obsession with Googling everything and wants to expand her experiences by trying everything and anything – which makes for many a comedic occurrence.
She’s a bit of a goof but I felt for her as she never had many friendships let alone relationships and just wanted to experience life. Despite a being a bit naïve, she could hold her own with Rafe who couldn’t help but be captivated by her. I loved how he was just as feisty as Alice and deep down was a really nice guy.
Such a great love story a bit of a baseball sports romance which I loved!
This was my first book by this author but it will definitely not be the last. I adored this book. I laughed out loud and even shed a few tears. Alice is such an adorable character. She was so much fun. It didn’t take very long at all to decide she was worth reading about. Rafe was pretty hot and he was the typical spoiled playboy athlete at the beginning but when he was with Alice the two were perfect. They had that perfect chemistry and they made each other better. There were a few other great characters. I think Dutch was my favorite of Alice’s new friends. And there was baseball, of course.
The writing was exceptional and kept me engaged enough to finish the book the same day I got it. I love this author’s style. I found everything about this book to be truly enjoyable. I definitely recommend this book for a good fun read. I think this book is just about perfect and it’s going to be one of my all time favorite books.
This a fun, quick, quirky read. I’ve read it a few times and there are things I love and things that are ok. I love the 80’s movie references. I love that Alice had a job you mostly hear men have, a pilot and flight instructor. I liked that Rafe was a normal sports guy, who when he fell in love, he fell hard.
I loved that he loved every part of Alice, her quirky and nerdy parts. What started as friendship blossomed into a forever love. He never tried to change her and when he found himself falling for her, he didn’t try to stop it.
Not a bad sports book. Onto book 2 of the series.
Absolutely ADORED this story! This is my first read by this author and can’t wait to read more of her books.
“I thought you were one of those bone-headed, stupid athletes who only cared about baseball and women. But I have a feeling you’re worth knowing.”
Alice Boyd arrives in Charleston looking to make every day the best day of her life. After escaping her controlling mother and her grey insular existence, she’s looking to experience all that life has to offer. A trip to her first ever baseball game results in her making a new friend, and also catching the eye of one of the biggest players in town.
“The woman was tiny but had just the right amount of everything…including the sexiest brown eyes I’d ever seen. But it was the fire in them that I wanted to feed off of.”
Rafe Hembrey lives and breathes baseball. On the cusp of promotion from the minor to the major league, he is completely focused on his career and can’t afford any distractions. He can have any woman he wants. Blessed with talent and gorgeous looks, he’s not used to anyone turning him down. Until Alice. Beautiful, smart, innocent Alice with her zest for life, her genuine goodness, and her unfiltered honesty. But she keeps him at arm’s length – in the friend zone – in spite of the chemistry between them.
“We were never meant to be friends.”
In a heated moment, Rafe steps over the friendship line and takes them into uncharted territory, where he starts to question everything he wants, as well as everything he never thought he needed.
“Being inside her had set my soul on fire. I couldn’t remember the last time a woman had quenched my thirst. And this woman…this woman was everything. ”
This book was such a fun, amusing and sexy read. Alice was adorable! So earnest and adventurous, I loved her curiosity about the world and her love of Google and random facts – she is a girl after my own heart! And, Rafe! He was gorgeous and cheeky, and I just loved how his desire for Alice was palpable. I loved how much he wanted and needed her; how deeply she affected him.
I totally devoured this book! It had all the ingredients I love in a story – quirky, girl-nerd; cocky ball player; push-and-pull chemistry; fabulous humour and banter; and even a firm tug or two on the old heartstrings. Thoroughly recommend!
Great story about family and overcoming hurt and growing from the experience. Also showing how love and infatuation are different
love the book
I enjoyed the way the characters were so different, but completed each other. The story was fun to read and and the sparring between characters made for good laughs.
I liked this way more than I thought I would. I loved it…the quirky characters and the humor, there were LOL parts with I mean where I was actually laughing and my family was looking at me like I was deranged, we NEED more good laughs in life! So a good time, a HEA ending, and fun characters, what more could one want?
I couldn’t put it down.
LOVE this book!
This story has me laughing throughout! Very cute story line and enjoy the characters and their constant conflicts. Her innocence and snappy smart whit play well off each other to make a really fun character to read. The storyline is engaging and has you hoping everything works out!
Overall great story and glad I found it, had me hooked from the first page!
Loved it!
This book was hilarious, and steamy! I could not put it down. I was only a few chapters in and literally had to text my friend that she HAD to read it too.
This is a great book…so much so that I started rereading it when I finished…and have enjoyed picking up things I missed the first time!
Funny and easy to read.
I loved this book!
He’s a hot stuff baseball player looking at getting signed for the majors. She’s recently moved to town. Both are not looking for a relationship. Enchanting read.
