From USA Today bestselling author Penelope Bloom comes the first novel in the romantic, sexy, and hilarious Anyone But… series.Seven years ago, my best friends and I made a promise: No matter what, we would never date one of the King brothers. Even if they grew up to become megafamous, gorgeous, heart-stopping billionaires. Even if they crawled on their knees and begged for forgiveness. But guess … for forgiveness.
But guess who just flew back into our lives in a private jet? And guess who just showed up to my job on my first day? Richard. King. Fortunately, it takes two seconds for Richard to reveal he hasn’t changed. Conceited. Cocky. Rude. Unfortunately, he’s also the kind of gorgeous that’s borderline offensive—with a jawline to make statues self-conscious and a grin that short-circuits my brain.
He’s spent years taking what he wants. I doubt he’s hungry for anything else—except me, apparently. There’s no way I’ll let him maneuver his way back into my life. My friends would never forgive me. I would never forgive me. But did I mention his jawline?

Kira and her two best friends make a pact: None of them will date a King Brother.
Seven years later, the King brothers come back and stir past memories back up. The girls vow that the pact is still in place only that doesn’t stop Rich from trying to apologize about what happened seven years ago with Kira.
Kira is trying to remain steadfast in her promise with her besties but Rich is slowly proving that he isn’t the same boy.
So will Kira forgive him?
This book was funny and swoon-worthy. Rich’s brother are hilarious in their shenanigans as is Kira’s besties. Definitely one-click this book now.
Back in high school the King Brothers were synonymous with leaving a trail of broken hearts, Kira of course knows that fact first hand. She dated a King brother, Nick, back in high school, and just like those that came before her, she was left broken-hearted and harboring a serious hate for him and his elder brother Rich.. After the implosion of their relationship, she lucked out and her wish to never have to see them again came true, the King brothers packed their bags and left town.
Seven blissful years have passed since they left town… but that’s all about to change, their back in town to stay, and Rich has his sights set on her!
Anyone But Rich is a drama-filled page turner that will draw you from the first sentence, and keep you intrigued until the last. It’s a story of second chances, friendship, forgiveness and finding true love. I really enjoyed what I discovered here, the story line was strong and plausible, albeit a little predictable, but nonetheless entertaining. The characters came with a real-feel quality, all unique in their own right, and were to find a connection with. Overall I would say it was a solid first read, one that left me just curious enough to come back for more! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased opinion.
This story surprised me. It was very entertaining, mostly because it feels like all the characters have a great sense of humor. I think Rich’s behavior towards Kira is super sweet. He treats her like he treats no other. He is genuine with her and talks to her with an easy going freedom that you as a reader won’t sense he has with anyone else. I also really liked Kira’s personality. She has an innocence to her but is eager for more. Wants to explore, take risks and doesn’t coward from anyone. Ballsy but never compromising her proper attitude in the process. Which is a turn on for Rich. And the best plus this book has, are the friends and brothers. This extra characters won me over and had me chuckling constantly. It’s ridiculous and unbelievable how they make so much sense with the weirdness that comes out of them. Specially Iris and Cade. I’m really looking forward to their story. It will be full of nonsense and denial but passionate.
Kira has made a vow with her 2 best friends. Never, ever get involved with a King boy. Rich, Cade and Nick have single handedly ruined their collective lives, well as much as a teenager’s life can be ruined. They vow to never give those boys their attention again, ever. Which is easy to do since the boys hightailed it out of town to the left coast after graduation to make themselves billionaires.
Rich King is returning to his hometown on the East Coast knowing he will have to eat some crow sooner rather than later. He has one person in mind that he knows he will have the hardest time with. He is hopeful that Kira will forgive him but you never know. Heading back with Stella (his fake girlfriend) on his arm gives him strength to face not only Kira but his parents and their overbearing ideals.
Kira just wants to get through her first day of teaching, conveniently at her old high school. Once Rich King was done making a fool of her and ruining any chance she had a bettering her station, this was what she could obtain. She is determined that life will not win this time. Determined that is until her classroom door opens and in walks Rich King.
Kira used to have no problem telling twins Rich and Cade apart but now that they’ve been gone from town all these years, it gets a little more complicated. Cade she liked, he was no nonsense, more relaxed and she actually dated him briefly. Albeit while trying to make Rich jealous but that’s beside the point. Rich and Kira have a lot to work out from both their past and their present. But each is hoping they can use this opportunity to have a fresh start. Maybe once they get past a few things though.
A good first book to start off this 3 book (I’m assuming) about 3 brothers and the girls they left behind. I enjoyed the push pull that Kira and Rich experienced both in the past and what can be their future. I’m excited to see how the friendship dynamic changes in the other 2 couples interactions. Solid 5 stars for this book I voluntarily read and reviewed.
This was a Rich start to a new series
Penelope Bloom is one of my favourite authors who I instantly one click when I see she has a new release. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of Anyone but Rich via Netgalley, and want to thank Montlake and Penelope for the chance to review for this new series and voluntarily leave my honest review
This book was fabulous! I instantly fell in love with the characters, the humour by the characters and the overall story which was well developed
Kira and her two best friends, Iris and Miranda make a pact to never give the King brothers a chance in the future, even if they are super wealthy or even famous. Fast forward seven years and the King brothers are returning to their small home town. Rich, Cade and Nick are eager to start their expansion in their home town but Rich first wants to set things straight with Kira. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite go how he expects and soon obstacles are being encountered in their personal as well as professional lives One thing I have to say is that I absolutely loved Cade and Nick and their shenanigans and also the obsession Rich has with some prehistoric creatures….wink wink I’m not saying a thing but I would recommend you read this story, as you won’t regret it! I eagerly await Cade and Nick next
While the narrative was bound by familiarity to the trope, the read was light and fun. Penelope Bloom has a creative way of defining her characters and making them relatable to the reader. Her dialog flows easily allowing the reader to feel apart of the story and the character’s lives. Rich and Kira’s chemistry is pure entertainment. Loved it. Perfect weekend read. 4 stars
3.5 stars for me
This was my first read from this author and I enjoyed it. Kira and Rich’s story had plenty of LOL moments and the cast of supporting characters were great. I would have liked to connect with the two lead characters a little more but overall it was a well paced read and I LOVED the female friendships in this one. Added to the story’s richness.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book, it put a smile on my face. We start with three teenagers making a promise to never have a relationship with one of the King brothers ever again, regardless if they are rich or famous. They agree. Seven years later they are put to the test, never imagining that the King brothers are exactly that Rich and famous and still heartbreakingly gorgeous. And my friends when the King brothers come back to town is where the fun begins. I was a little scared when I started reading because Rich kept saying he messed up on her and my mind immediately thought of the worst and I was thinking “oh hell no” I wouldn’t forgive him, but then when it was revealed, yes it was bad but not what I thought..These people were great..and I honestly can’t wait for Cade and Iris’s story!
Rcvd and ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions
This is a light heart and very funny read.
Kira and her two best friends made a pack when
Rich made a fool out of Kira .
This is a second chance read so to find out how things
workout for the pair you going to have to read it yourself.
All I can say is you will be left with a smile on your face.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
In pure Penelope Bloom fashion, she’s given us another humor-filled, wacky twist on second chance romances with The King brothers and Kira, with her best friends Iris and Maranda.
Drama, heat, heart, witty banter and a plethora of interesting hobbies and seduction techniques pop up during Rich King’s attempts to right the wrongs of the past and apologize.
Too bad the billionaire has many roadblocks! From a seven-year-old pact to some overbearing parents to the society pages and the town mayor… he has a lot to juggle.
Oh, yes and the fact Kira doesn’t like him very much.
He knows it won’t be easy, but Rich is determined!
Loved it!
Smiles all around! Thought the story was well fleshed out, fun, sexy-sweet, with great characters, most of which I liked. (I was not a fan of Miranda, in the beginning, but the girl grew on me)I am stoked to see this new fun series from Ms. Bloom. I am curious to see where it goes from here.
4.5 Stars!
This is the first book I have read from this author which I enjoyed.
From the beginning you could tell of the great friendship that Kira had with Iris and Miranda.
It was a quick read that had some really funny parts from the King Brothers which had me laughing out loud.
I loved the attraction that Kira and Rich had worn each other that just couldn’t be ignored as much as they tried!
Overall a great read and I’m looking Looking forward to the rest of the series.
This was my first Penelope Bloom book and I enjoyed it. I found myself laughing out loud at the King Brothers antics. I also found myself flipping the pages to get to the end.
It was very entertaining.
What happened in high school has lingered between Rich and Kira. Rich wants to apologize but Kira isn’t having it. But the more these two are together the more emotions are felt and these two end up falling in love. But there are some people who don’t want this couple together. But these two fight it out against the odds.
I’m looking forward to the other brothers books and can’t wait to see this gang all together again.
*I was given a free copy of this book by Net Galley in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.*
From the start this book has me laughing out loud. Iris character was hilarious, she was stellar with witty and down right wicked ideas which made this band of girls a force to be reckoned with. Kira was sweet and adorable but determined to the end. Rich, couldn’t do right by himself if he tried to do right by others. Great read a few twists in the tale lots of laughs can’t wait for more.
Anyone But Rich by Penelope Bloom a four-star read that blooms between the pages. Most of the time this deserves five-stars but then in a couple it only deserves at most three, so I went for four overall. I am eagerly awaiting number two in the anyone but series as I am hoping that that one will have more five-star moments, and I adored both of Kira’s best friends Miranda and Iris along with all three King brothers, they all made this a great story, even some of the others like the parents, they added much mirth to the story, but there were just a couple of bots I got frustrated at reading and was like eugghh how much more. But then a few pages later I was hooked again, its that type of story. This has all the bones of being a great series.
Richard King humiliated Kiara in high school. After that day she made a pact with her two best friends to never give the King brothers the time of day, no matter what. Luckily for Kiara, Richard and his brothers moved out of state after graduation, unluckily, they’re back, rich and as handsome as ever. Richard still caries the guilt of that day with him, all he needs to do is make a quick stop to apologize, it couldn’t be simpler. What he’s not expecting is Kiara to reject his apology. Now all he has to do is figure out how to get her to forgive him.
Anyone But Rich was the quick hilarious read I’ve come to expect and enjoy from Penelope Bloom. The conflict is light, the characters are funny, and the banter is great. While I did enjoy Rich and Kiara’s relationship, I’m really looking forward to Cade’s book and the mayhem he causes. This is a great book to squeeze in between heavier reads.
