I lost it all when I went to prison. Now I have a new name and a chance to make a fresh start. One more job and I can leave my past behind me.I never knew I needed someone like Tammy. When she’s in my arms, I forget everything that’s gone wrong. I might even be falling in love. The problem? The job is a contract on her life.I’ve got to protect her instead.
While I love this authors books I am giving her slightly to a four-star because it was somewhat predictable. It also had a few grammatical errors that were easy to ignore. The story contained a little steam and was an enjoyable read.
This was a good read which is different from any other book I’ve read in the past. It wasn’t what I was expecting, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I like a book that I can’t figure out right away. There were a couple of things that didn’t seem realistic, but that’s the beauty of reading…not everything has to be real. It’s a good contemporary romance that is worth reading.
Megan is in witness protection to give testimony on her ex boyfriend. Jack just got out of prison after fourteen years for killing his step father. He was picked up by his cell mate who gave him a address to report to his probation officer, Jack wants to be a good person and get a job. Nobody wants an convicted killer. Jack cannot find employment and he feels like life is going nowhere again. Sparky his old cell mate has heard of a job, Jack doesn’t want to take it but finally agrees. He said he would kill a woman for 150,000 that would give him a nest egg to start over with, but could he actually kill someone. He was told she is the girlfriend of a of a gang Lord, and is as evil as he is. Jack goes to where Megan is and she looks like a nice girl. Jack introduces himself to her and lies as he tells her he just moved back and is looking for a job, he borrows her paper to look for a job, Megan who is now named Tammy smiles and asked him to join her for coffee. This is the beginners of the story a very suspenseful romantic mystery thriller that will keep you on the edge, a real page turner. I loved this, great writing, wonderful characters, interesting plot. Great story. I was given this asan ARC copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
Anyone But Her Kindle Edition

Jack:
She will not be torn from arms. I’m going to protect her with every breath in my body.
Fresh from a fourteen year prison sentence for manslaughter, Jack does the unthinkable. He takes a contract to kill a woman, the former girlfriend of a kingpin gangster. He didn’t know that girlfriend would be Megan and that he would fall in love with her.
Megan:
All I know is that I want to be near him one last time before the world comes crashing down. I’ve done something stupid. I’ve betrayed the man who saved my life.
Megan has joined WITSEC, turning evidence on Clayton, her ex-boyfriend and nightmare. When Jack stumbles into her life and saves her, she falls for him. Until she finds out he was hired to kill her.
An action packed, redemption love story, ABH makes your heart pound! Lace gives us another great romance. The characters are well drawn, but I would like to have had more of closure on Abdel.
All in all, it hits all the buttons and moves along quickly. The romance is touching and smexy. Jack is a good boy who did one bad thing to save someone he loved and Megan is that troubled girl you knew in high school after she grew old enough to regret her actions.
The villains hide in the shadows or are realistic enough that their behavior is what we see on TV every day.
Well done, Ms. Lace, well done.

Anyone But Her by Lisa Lace
Jack has been in jail a long time and he is finally out. He goes and stays with his old cellmate Sparky. He is having a hard time adjusting to life on the outside. He is offered a job that pays one-hundred-fifty-thousand dollars, all he has to do is kill Calvin’s ex-girlfriend. I loved this story with all the twist and turns and ups and downs in it. I had a hard time putting this book down. I loved the two main characters, they were so believable. I highly recommend this book. I received an advanced reader copy and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
Life Regrets
Megan is a woman that made a choice when she was younger thinking that it was a chance to belong and be happy. Little did she really understand about life.
Jack had a future before him that promise him a potentially a better life but loving someone that never put you first derailed his life.
Can theses two seek to improve their futures by doing the right thing?
The author did a great job in making the story and the characters relatable. It kept a decent pace through out the entire book.
Being honest the story line did not appeal to me not because it was badly written but more along the lines of the subject matter.
Even when a book doesn’t appeal to me I still can give and honest review about it. The author Lisa Lace is a favorite of mine to read so I do read most of what she writes.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
It was a great book !
This was an interesting concept.
Can 2 people have a relationship when it started w/ a lie ?
Megan is really Tammy
Mark is really Jack.
Loved the characters + the storytelling!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
What happens when the one chance to reinvent/fix your life means destroying the one person who makes you whole? That is Jack’s dilemma. Megan/Tammy is trying to start over too and has no idea what Jack’s real job is. This is a pulse pounding, tender story of taking chances and finding love.
