I am struggling with some life issues. Times I feel so alone and afraid. As Max gives scripture and helpful ways to move with Christ through this time I am filled with hope that Christ does have more for my life and in Him I can find peace.
This book is such a help with the every growing problem of anxiety. Max also has a Bible study that goes along with this book that is very helpful. The book is based on Bible verses Phil 4: 6,7. Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request to God and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ. He best thing to do is read the word and the more you read the more understanding of things will be revealed to you. Definitely recommend.
I lead a group of women at our local church. This is a wonderful book and there really isn’t anything to worry about when you turn your problems over to the Lord.
I don’t read a lot of nonfiction books, but I usually do read Max Lucado’s books. His writing is strong and almost lyrical. His word choices always touch my heart as does the subject matter. In this world where worry is almost a constant in many people’s lives, this book brought a spring of hope to overcome worry in our lives. Thank you, Max Lucado.
I did this study with supplemental videos. Very inspirational during this Challenging pandemic!
As usual, Max Lucado never fails to inspire. He is one of my favorite Christian writers. Sharing scripture and personal experiences brings the Bible to life.
This is a Christian Faith based book for dealing with anxiety. It uses the Bible for help with coping with anxiety and facing our fears. It starts out by saying you may need medication or therapy along with studying the Bible and God’s word. So they aren’t saying don’t take your medicine or skip seeing your therapist.
I am a Christian and I believe in Jesus so this book really spoke to me. It showed me so many verses and different examples based on anxiety. This book mainly focuses on Philippians 4: 4-8. Yes, it showed a lot of other verses but the key passage was that in Philippians.
I struggle a lot with anxiety. I tend to harp on things and just snowball everything into worst case scenarios. Is this healthy? Absolutely not. I’ve noticed my anxiety has caused a lot of health problems for me. I’ve developed heart palpitations. My heart skips beats also known as PVC’s. They feel awful. I’ve been to the doctor and they tell me I have a strong heart. So because of my worries and fears, it is physically causing my heart to skip a beat. Can you imagine fear being so strong to cause such a thing? I’ve also developed IBS also known as irritable bowel syndrome. Basically my stomach and gut is in knots. I’d also like to add that these things come about without anxiety as well and I know they are real health issues. I’m not diminishing that whatsoever. I know others who have these exact health issues and more who do not struggle with anxiety. So please hear me on that. I just know as my anxiety has grown, so has my health struggles. I can remember a time where I was a healthy person. I didn’t have all these issues. I could have a worry come into my mind, process it, and let it go. So what has changed in me? I know there are several scientific factors that go into our body and how different things can create imbalances. Maybe that’s what is going on with me. I just know that I want a change.
What I plan to do is look over my notes I took while listening to this audio book and study my Bible more. I plan to start taking vitamins and eating healthier. I also want to take up yoga and meditation. If I do all of these things and still need help, I will see about medication and other routes. All we can do is what is best for each individual. We are all different and different things help each one of us. I pray that you all struggling with fear and anxieties are able to find relief. It can be very debilitating and no one should have to deal with this. Sending you all many hugs.
This is an excellent bible study companion on how to stop yourself from being anxious and worrisome. It is a must read for anyone struggling to find peace during a difficult time, or someone who wrestles with anxiety and worry.
