Very few knew Antonia, despite her fame as La Stella di Venezia. In decadent 18th century Venice, she develops from Vivaldi’s star pupil into his musical colleague and the pride of Venetian music. After falling in love with Orlando Sagredo – master planner of the Palio – Antonia recognizes the emotional bondage she has never questioned.Antonia of Venice is inhabited by brilliant musicians, … musicians, avaricious politicians and ineffectual rulers of the Republic. Through it all, the people and music Antonia loves take the reader into the depths of revenge and selflessness, as the story advances the timeless, feminine heroic as a powerful and equal partner to the masculine.

It didn’t capture my attention.
This is one of the best books I have read in the past six months. It made me listen to some of Vivaldi’s music again and led to further research about his life. I really enjoyed their passion for music.
Saddest book I’ve ever read!! Very haunting!
Amazing story following a young orphan her entire life. The cascading events come together in a very realistic ending.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The development of the characters and fast paced of the action.
I love historical type novels. So the focus on the life of Vivaldi was very interesting.
Lovely.
The characters were richly developed and I enjoyed revisiting Venice, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, and Monteriggioni.
What a sad, sad story. Possession and lost love are the themes of this historical fiction. The author has a way with words and her prose is soul searching.
The best book I read this year.
