Another Sky by Jayne Frost is one captivating romance! Miles and Gels story will take you on a journey of growth, passion, and so much more. Miles is a sexy rock star but his past is very much in his present stealing his happiness. Gels is a dancer who dreams to be her own person and to just have someone that will love and stick by her. These two broken souls come together to make one dynamic couple! I loved their story and can’t wait for what Jayne comes out with next. It’s a must read. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.
What an amazing storyline, with wonderful characters and a few of the broken kind too. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, I laughed and I cried. The hero and the heroine were well crafted and I hurt for them both. I recommend you grab a copy and start reading.
Another sky, on another day and in another life is the life of Damaged drummer Miles. It’s a bleak sky with a storm brewing outside and within in me. As I feel the darkness creeping in, I get lost in myself. My thoughts are swirling around like a leaf on a breeze, I’m being swept up and can feel myself falling into the abyss. Until a ray of sunshine called Gelsey peaks through the clouds.
All I’ve ever wanted was to feel good enough, to make those who are supposed to love me, want to stay. My mother was an amazing ballet dancer, the world was her oyster. However she gave it all away to be with my father and have me. I was down on my luck, up to my eyeballs in debt and no ah out in sight. When I was given the chance of a lifetime to follow in my mother’s pointe shoes.

Another Sky was a stand-alone by Jayne Frost. Although it wasn’t part of her Sixth Street Band series, it was closely associated with the series. I can genuinely say I have loved all of Frosts books to date, and Another Sky was no exception.
Miles Cooper was one of two surviving members of the wildly successful band, Damaged. He lost his best friend – the lead singer, and the love of his life – the lead guitarist. Six years later and he still hadn’t recovered or even remotely moved on.
Gelsey Howard was a ballet dancer. Dancing was her life, and her mom’s life before her. Her mom died of cancer when she was eleven and her father had ultimately spiraled out of control, leaving Gelsey primarily alone.
Frost took us through their initial meeting and follow up interactions to where they ultimately became friends, then more. It was a long journey of healing, freedom from anger and learning not to just exist but to live.
I loved both Miles Gelsey. Miles was so broken, but not really, just filled with a lot of pain and guilt and the never ending grieving. And Gelsey had her own issues, different but similar. I loved the friendship first and the protectiveness. They just fit.
Frost also graced us with some favorites from the Sixth Street Band series as well. And a new character, Blake. He has a story to tell so hopefully we’ll get him next. Based on what we know so far from Blake and true to form from Foster, I would expect the same level of roller coaster emotions with a little snark and humor that has graced Frosts books to date. Regardless of what’s in store, I’m all in for where Frost takes us next.
it was amazing
I read and reviewed this book voluntarily!
Another Sky was an emotional ride. Miles has so much guilt and pain for the death of Rhenn and Paige.
It has been 6 years since that night, the night he lost the love of his life, But after playing a one time fundraiser with the other member of Damaged, Tori, that survived the crash he wants to start feeling again. But what? When water therapy is suggested for his leg he goes to the Y where the class he needs is being held; here he meets Gelsey, a ballerina. It is not the first time they have bumped into each other, it is the second time he will be an A$$ though. Gelsey will be the one to help him during this class while her BFF teaches everyone else.
Gelsey’s whole life revolves around being a ballerina. Her mother and grandmother before her were ballerina’s in Russia. She lost her mother, and her father is MIA. Ivan her instructor is the only person she has, and she doesn’t see that. She has no money, and when she tries to get a title loan she finds her father has already taken one out.
After Miles presence at the Y causes issues, he convinces Gelsey to rehab him at home so he does not continue to cause an issue at the Y. With her life is shambles but only needing 2 months until she goes to NY she takes the job.
The issue, they are attracted to each other. Miles doesn’t want to move on, or does he?
Can these 2 see past their pasts to see their futures, together.
I could say so much more about this book but I do not want to give to many spoilers….
While not part of the Sixth Street bands series, you do see a few of the characters from that series. This book can be read as a stand alone.
I loved this book.
A memorable, emotional read I will not soon forget! 5 compelling stars!
I knew from the very beginning of the book that I was in for a heartbreaking, wonderful read. Gelsey and Miles both have obstacles that they have to deal with each day, and they stay strong. These characters are real, raw, and I definitely felt a strong connection to them and their journey. Together they are a breath of fresh air, and filled with passion.Their story flowed beautifully, and they have intense, heated moments.
My heart was overwhelmed with the feels. Jayne has brought us a beautiful story of love, hope, and healing of heart
Gelsey and Miles are two tortured souls. Their story will break your heart and slowly throughout the pages of Another Sky it will be put back together.
Favorite quote: Gelsey ~ “…maybe it was all the bruises marring my skin. Because that’s what happened when you trusted someone. It left a mark. On your skin or on your soul.”
4.5 Cranky Stars
Ok stop me if you heard of this troupe. It’s about a down on her luck ballerina with dreams of New York and a rocker with a tortured tragic past. That is what Another Sky is but the way Jayne Frost weaves words it is so much more. More in depth more heart and more aww moments. I couldn’t put it down and it makes me want to jump into her Sixth Street series that everyone raves about.
Gelsey is a ballerina. Her mother was a prima ballerina with an amazing career and her grandmother taught the best dancers around. This is life but sadly it’s not all pirouettes and lifts. Her father has bailed because things got too hard when her mother got ill. She feels abandoned and is struggling to make that New York dream a reality. When she is presented with the opportunity to be an apprentice dancer with the best troupe in NYC she starts to scramble. Down on her luck and needing money fast accepts a job from Miles Cooper that her best friend set her up with to teach him the water aerobics she must do as well. Ballerinas have a short self life and Gelsey’s is even shorter.Their relationship is tentative at best with Miles wanting to help her yet keep her at a distance and her knowing her time in Austin is limited.
Miles Cooper has suffered so much in his life. Death upon death has been a part of his life. High on his success and touring with his best friends and his best girl when a bus accident shatters his leg and hips and the tentative hold he has on his mental health. Life gets very rough and he finds himself in a mental health facility. He doesn’t want to taint anyone with his darkness, so he hides in his mansion and just exists until he bumps into Gelsey and she challenges him back. He starts to think of ways to see her and when the opportunity to offer her a job and even his pool house does, he start to come back to life. Life is still bleak and the darkness still lurks in the corner of his mind but he can’t help but be drawn to the warmth that she radiates.
I really loved that while I’ve read stories with this similar story line this was so deeper. You could see the struggle that Miles endured. That dark voice in our head isn’t fun and its full of self-sabotage. I liked that it took Miles to reach the I am enough phase of his journey and admit being in love and having a mental illness doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. Gelsey was very pragmatic about her illness she knew her years were dwindling and she grabbed the opportunity by the horns. This book isn’t all doom and gloom it’s full of hope and some sexy times. Seriously Gelsey and Miles are adorable and I’m glad I got to read this book!!
I was absolutely floored by this book. FLOORED!!!
Another Sky is a one of a kind spellbinding masterpiece, of pure poetic perfection!. Yet at the same time so beautifully written, captivating and engaging.
I knew I was about to be taken on a tailspin of utter bliss!
Just like a song, a dance, you’re instantly sent on a lyrical journey of mind, and soul.
The crash that killed Rhenn and Paige two members of the rock band Damaged devastated the lives of the two remaining members Tori and Miles. Six years later Miles is still suffering physical pain and is carrying the guilt of hurting his love Paige just before she died.
Dancer Gelsey is trying to live up to her ballerina Mother’s reputation by becoming a famous dancer too but she suffers from an inherited spinal problem needing constant treatment so she can keep going. Miles and Gelsey first meet at the doctor’s office, she has no idea who he is, has never heard of Damaged and hates his bad attitude. They meet again at a water therapy class that Gelsey is helping with and she must deal with his attitude again. His presence at the YMCA causes disruption as fans mob him, so he asks Gelsey to train him at his home, but she refuses.
As she is chosen to be an apprentice at the New York City Ballet Gelsey will have to spend money that she doesn’t have on new equipment, so she has no choice but to take Miles up on his job offer.
As they spend more time together Gelsey helps Miles to feel and live again while he helps her with her financial problems. At the same time their feelings for each other blossom into more.
Everything about the characters of Gelsey and Miles was so different, she was proud, stubborn and determined while he was mired in guilt and feelings of hopelessness that his life was over. All he had left was to throw his considerable wealth at people to make his life more comfortable. Yet Jayne was able to weave together an unforgettable story of these two were able to find each other.
This is such a beautiful story of hurt, guilt, physical and mental pain, and the power of love to bring redemption, forgiveness and happiness. I would like to say that I was totally blown away book, but Jayne is such a fantastic writer that everything she writes is just magic. Be ready for tears but also joy when reading this book and give yourself lots of time because once you start it, you cannot put it down.
If I could give this book a million stars it would not be enough!
Absolutely loved reading Miles story. One of those books, I’ll re-read.
This is the sixth book in the Sixth Street Bands Series. Miles and Gelsey’s story is so beautifully written. They are perfect together. I’m glad to finally have Miles’s story. After listening to Down To You, I wanted his story. He is such a great character. I also love Gelsey. She’s strong and beautiful. I love the Epilogue. The ending is perfect. I enjoyed reading this story, and can’t wait for the audiobook version. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Miles Cooper has been recluse for the past six years since that tragic accident that claimed the life of the two important people in his life. But the times have come for him to face life and everything changes when he met Gelsey.
Gelsey Howard a ballet protege who dream of performing to the well renowned New York City Ballet Co. She’s very disciplined in perfecting her performances. But life isn’t easy for her. Gelsey endures life-changing, heartbreaking situations that form her. The death of her mom due to cancer and the abandonment of her father. She really has to fend for herself. That’s why she agreed to help Miles in his recovery and be his therapist. And the pay is good, way too good to pass.
Another Sky is a novel about relying on your own strength within. I really felt sorry for Gelsey at times, but happy and excited for her too particularly when she did great in one of her performances. Miles, on the other hand, maybe a brooding man but you’ll see how thoughtful, chivalrous even, as the story progress. They may not particularly like one another at first but things can change, right?
I absolutely enjoyed this book. It’s everything I want in a contemporary romance – heartwarming, heartbreaking, lyrical and uplifting. It was beautifully written. No skimming over sections in this book. I devoured every single word. Main characters are easy to get to know and the story draws you in from the start! It’s a great read, and hard to put down. I look forward to more from this author! Read this Book!
I am not worthy,
I am not worthy,
I am NOT worthy Jayne Frost I bow down to you, because this book is SPECTACULAR ,a complete Masterpiece that I adored profoundly.
I honestly don’t have the right words ,because nothing I write here will be adequate enough to give Another Sky the Optimal best review it so very much deserves.
This book just took my breath away,Beautifully exquisite Jayne’s words are flawless and her writing just captures your imagination.I became completely enchanted with the story and the character Miles and Gelsey, their deeply emotional journey together throughout this story was so tough, heartwrenching and Magical. But it is a journey that is so worth travelling on just to experience their HEA and you will not regret reading it.
It Hijacked my Heart forever and is so unforgettable you will be thinking about them long after the end…I LOVE Miles,I just wanted to hug him close and take his pain away,I felt so much empathy for both Miles and Gelsey I could relate to them totally.
A unique book in everyway,if there is just one book you buy this week I would Highly Recommend purchasing Another Sky.It will captivate you like no other book ,this is a must read that will be on my list as one of the best books I have ever read.
Superb !!!!!! Worth a whole Universe of Stars.
I think the romance authors are trying to kill me by heartbreak and overdose of angst. Jayne Frost sure did a fine job of making it almost possible. A spellbinding and heart rending story where I had no where to hide from the devastating, shocking and intense emotions. I surrender and it never felt sweeter.
The darkness of ex Rock god Miles Cooper goes so far beyond and deeper than guilt about his best friend, pain of losing the closest people aka bandmates he had and the self destructive mode he activated. Surviving death is always difficult. And he was merely breathing and not living till he met the petite, innocent, sweet and compassionate ballerina, Gelsey. She has her own secret sufferings and burden. And she is fighting every day. She is like the sunshine in the rainy day called Miles but can he be strong enough?
My heart is hurting so much for this beautifully broken couple. They are barely breathing and holding onto each other. They are changing and healing and becoming a better person. This was a journey. This was a story of overcoming the overwhelming negativity and self deprecation. It is about the healing power of true love and loyalty. I was mesmerized and hypnotized by the words of Jayne Frost. They tugged at my heart, punched in my guts and made my heart bleed. The ending was phenomenal. The storyline kept me on the edge of hope and despair.
Another Sky by Jayne Frost is an epic emotional love and life story. The story carries some very relevant and powerful messages. You will definitely identify with the poignant emotions and draw strength from the amazing characters. My heart barely survived and I am so glad that I took a chance on this story!
Received ARC for Honest Review
“Tell me something no one else knows.” … “You’re going to break my heart.”
Six years ago everything changed. Two friends were lost in a tragic accident and since that time, Miles’s life has never been the same. When Paige died, he became immersed in darkness. He hid his pain with walls and a cold, gruff front. It worked well for him until one day it was challenged by the presence of a beautiful, lithe ballerina named Gelsey and a hulk of a bodyguard Miles refers to as “the leaner”. They pushed his buttons! To say Gelsey’s life is complicated and full of challenges and secrets is an understatement.
Bottom line: This is a truly beautiful story filled with remarkable characters, witty banter, deep emotion and the possibility for something more…something that would bring light into the lives of these beautifully flawed individuals.
Clearly, Jayne Frost has outdone herself by presenting readers with an emotional, multi-faceted story that will touch your soul in a deep, profound way. The moments of unexpected hilarity were the perfect punctuations needed to lift the story. If you put it on your “must read list,” I am pretty sure you will join me in sending the author sincere thanks for a job very well done.
I received an ARC with no obligation or expectation for a positive response. I am posting this review of my own volition along with my highest recommendations. This one is a stunner.
This story will take you back into the Sixth Street Band world. Deep breath. If you have read any books in this series then you (MIGHT?) be prepared for this emotional experience (MAYBE?!) If you haven’t read any, well, maybe it is better to go in blind? Eek. I don’t know. I think you will LOVE IT either way (wink)!
Miles and Gelsey have a story to tell. I feel my chest tightening with emotions just thinking about it. Miles I fell in love with from the beginning. He is the perfect combination of brokenness and heart. Initially he kept his heart hidden but as the book progresses you see that lessen. Eek. I want to hug him. Don’t judge me… yes I am a tad bit overly invested in this story. I dare you to NOT feel the same.
Gelsey is young, fresh, dedicated but filled with her own wounds. I found myself upset at those who should have had her back. It made me sad that I felt more anger at the injustices than she did. It seemed like she was resigned to a parent that was a complete disappointment. She was about forgiveness and love especially in her desire to stay connected. Ugh. I want to cry thinking about it. She deserved better. Her commitment to dance was so impressive. My heart is filled with admiration.
This couple is pure poetry. At first I thought it was because of how the arts were explored. Music and dance is a huge part of this book. I think it was more though. This author just excels at taking you to a magical place with the poetic feel of her words. You really are transported into a place of beauty that will haunt you long after you have finished this story’s telling. So MANY quote worthy moments too. I might have highlighted the crap out of this book. Wink!
HOOOLLLYYYY COW when these two get around to spicing up the page, ummm welll, SO NUMMY! Definitely some drool worthy reading. The path getting there was AWESOME! It was romantic and HOT!
As I am writing this I want to laugh at myself. When talking about Miles and Gelsey, I sound like I am discussing some good friends. That should be a testament to how amazing this book is in my opinion, right?! If these characters feel like my besties then this author did her job in writing this story. Lol.
I could talk about this book forever. I WONT but let me leave you by just saying this story is deserving of all five stars and more. Happy Reading!
Another Sky is flawless! I love every second of it. From the very first page, I knew this beautifully written story was going to be one of this year’s top favorites. I wish it didn’t have to end.
Miles and Gelsey’s story made me feel everything. It’s heartbreaking and hopeful. Sexy and emotional. This is a story of two damaged souls coming together to heal one another. They both have been through so much. I loved their connection and their passion. My heart felt all of Miles’s pain. Six years after the accident that changed everything and took the lives of his bandmates (his best friend and his love) he is still reeling – physically and mentally. He was angry, depressed, guilt ridden. He pushed those who were closest to him away. All this while also suffering from a leg injury that prevented him from continuing his drumming. I was already emotionally invested in Miles before I read this book. So reading about all his hurt was like a punch in the stomach.
As for Gelsey. I adored her. And I felt for her. She’s so sheltered and innocent because she’d been focusing solely on her ballet for so long. I loved her dedication and determination for her dance career. She showed so much growth dealing with her back problems, her financial struggles and her abandonment issues. Her spirit was infectious and her love really radiated through.
I can wax poetically for hours about Jayne Frost’s writing. I am so in love with her storytelling. Every word flowed so effortlessly. Her characters are complex and well developed. She handles a tough topic such as depression with sensitivity and care. You can feel the heart in her words.
If you haven’t read a Jayne Frost book. Another Sky is a great place to start. While it does reference characters from previous books, it very much is a standalone. Get ready to fall in love with this story.
Another Sky is by Jayne Frost. I’m not sure if Jayne is considering this book as part of her Sixth Street Bands series or not but we have had some previous glimpses of Miles in the last book. This can definitely be read as a stand alone. You do not need to have read any of the other books. I loved Miles so much. This beautiful, broken man deserved his own happy ever after. I’m so glad that Jayne decided it was his turn to get his!
It’s been six years since the tour bus crash that took half of the hottest band in the country, Damaged. The crash took Paige and Rhenn leaving Tori and Miles to survive without them. After some pretty dark times, Miles found enough strength to move on, to pretty much exist. He wasn’t happy or unhappy, he just was. He also lived with pain from the crash. Which is what led him to that water therapy class that day. Which is what led him to Gelsey.
Gelsey Howard is a twenty two year old ballerina. Dance has been her life since she was a small child. Her mother was a ballerina but Gelsey lost her when she was young. With a father she can’t depend on, Gelsey is pretty much left to fend for herself while she continues to study under her lifelong teacher, Ivan. She does whatever she can to try to make a living, including helping her best friend out with her water therapy class. When she first saw Miles, she had no idea who he was. She doesn’t pay any attention to music other than classical and The Beatles. All she sees is a broody, beautiful man who seems to think he is entitled, that he can buy what or whoever he wants. But at the same time, she can see his pain, both physical and emotional. She can’t help but to want to help him.
“I was still here. Still breathing. Still alive. And maybe it was time for me to move on. Whatever that meant.”
It seems like these two came into each other’s lives when they needed each other most. In so many ways. With Gelsey in his life, Miles finally started to wake up, to feel again, to want more. To want Gelsey. Gelsey was leaving Austin for New York in two months. So Miles would have to be happy with the time they had. And he didn’t want to waste a single minute of it.
“She wasn’t just the sun. She was the whole sky.”
Along with opening your heart after having it closed off for so long, comes the risk of also having to feel again, both the good and the bad. Both the highs and the lows of life. The highs are beautiful but when the lows hit, it was harder then ever. Because he’d experienced the light. He didn’t know if he could survive the dark again.
“All great loves are complicated. That’s what makes them great.”
This is such a beautiful story. I fell so in love with Miles. He was so lost and I loved watching him wake back up, loved seeing these two together. Not only did Gelsey help Miles, he was good for her as well. He showed her love, he gave her confidence, strength. Together they were perfection.
“Only you. Always you.”
“My body. My soul. My Forever.”

Another Sky is my first read by Jayne Frost. A wonderful, beautiful and sexy love story. One with a devastatingly handsome but broken rock star and mesmerizing, beautiful and delicate ballerina. This is a story of second chances, self discover, self love, hope and off course LOVE.
There’s both tragedy and joy, heartache and love in this story.
“ . . .”
Miles Cooper is the drummer from the band Damaged. He is a famous rock star. Gorgeous, sexy, talented but also damaged. Tragedy has strike his life making it hard to just keep up with it. This was until a beautiful young woman brought the light and sun to his darkness.

Gelsey Howard it’s a very young and talented ballerina. She has dedicated all her life to be as magnificent of a ballerina as her mother. She is dedicated and has a strong will. Has work all her life to achieve greatness in this industry but sometimes those dreams are hard to conquer.
Miles helps her achieve her dream while he conquers his demons. From that friendship blooms the most beautiful love. Unexpected, intriguing, breathtaking love. One that chase the storms away and brings the sun light.
The love scenes were raw and intensely passionate. All consuming. The type that takes your breath away and make you fan your face at the same time. It was definitely the perfect book to start my Frost journey. Can’t wait to read more of her books.
If you’ve read the Sixth Street Band series then you’re fully aware of the emotional journey Jayne will take you on and if not, then prepare yourself for one read that will drain your emotions and leave you breathless from beginning to end. Miles and Gelsey were absolute perfection. Their story was heart-wrenching, gripping and powerful. The storyline was definitely one that hit close to home but portrayed a message of hope, of life and to never give up no matter how hard things look. This is a read that stole my breath away.!
