Romance Rehab: book recs, author services, general badassery: http://www.romancerehab.com/
Rockstar romance can go horribly, horribly wrong for me. But this one…this one was all kinds of right.
Plot overview: Miles, a rockstar who was injured in a horrible tour bus crash that killed his lover/best friend, gets dancer Gelsey to help him with his physical therapy.
First of all, it should be noted that this book can be read as a standalone. I mean, I read Down to You first, so I was vaguely aware of the circumstances of the bus crash that killed a few band members and injured Miles, but there was plenty of detail given in this book to let me understand the plot and background. This could be your first read by this author and you wouldn’t be missing out on anything important. (Although Down to You was delightful, so I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to read that one, too.)
Miles is my favorite kind of romance hero. He’s gruff and grumbly—a real grumpy bastard. I ADORE a grumpy hero, especially one like Miles who very quickly proves himself to be a sweet, caring, attentive guy who is merely hiding his internal pain and damage behind a grumpy facade. He’s nothing but supportive of Gelsey, and after a jerkish first meeting, he treats her with kindness and respect (in his own gruff, grumbly, grumpy bastard way).
I don’t want to make it seem like Miles made it easy for Gelsey to love him. There’s some angst. He’s a dude with issues and scars—physical and emotional—that run deep. It wasn’t at all easy for him to open up and let Gelsey in. He screwed up a couple of times. But overall, he was extremely likeable and I was really rooting for him to overcome all of his emotional baggage. (And he did—nicely, I might add)
And the one thing that usually pisses me off about rockstar romances is the rockstar’s manwhorish ways. Miles was not a manwhore. He had a friends-with-benefits type of arrangement early on in the story, but he called it off when it became apparent that it might be getting close to actual feelings on her part. The whole thing didn’t annoy me at all.
Gelsey is a great heroine, too. She’s sunshine-y, but not overly so. She comes across as genuine, caring, and sweet. She’s also an extremely hard worker who’s had to overcome some physical issues to keep dancing—so I really admire her strength (physical and emotional).
It should also be said that there are some sensitive topics included in the story. Most notably, depression and suicide. So, if those things are triggers for you, you might want to skip this one, or read with extreme caution. But I felt like everything was handled in a realistic, appropriate, and sensitive way.
And I’m just going to be shallow for a moment and comment on the pretty, pretty cover.
So, long-story-short, this is another winner from Jayne Frost. I’ll be running off to download a bunch more of her books now. I encourage you to do the same.
The Sixth Street Band series is one that gets better with every book. With Down to You being the first book that I read from this series, falling in love with Logan was easy. I honestly thought that no one would be able to top that and in walks Miles. Jayne brought us two characters whose journeys we had to go on because these two needed to heal. And although it was heartbreaking at times, they are absolutely perfect for one another.
That prologue had me crying almost instantly. I was a blubbering mess and wasn’t quite sure if I was mentally prepared for Miles and Gelsey’s story. And can I just tell you how much that I love her name, it’s so different and I’m a fan!
Their first encounters with each other is memorable, Gelsey doesn’t make it easy for him. And I couldn’t help but chuckle about it. But once he gets past those barriers, it’s just amazing to see these two together.
With loss and pain, there comes hope and healing, but most of all, love. Miles and Gelsey came into each other’s lives just at the right time. To truly heal, they need each other more than anything. I loved watching both characters grow throughout the entire story.
As I read each book by Jayne, I can’t help but completely fall in love with her work. This book and series is one I highly recommend!

If you’ve read previous books in this series of standalones, you know about Mile’s past and how he is still dealing with the tragedy that completely wrecked his life and left him in the dark. Well, let me tell you that this man’s past is worse, darker and much more emotional then I was counting on and my heart hurt so much for him and how much he was still struggling with his past and the guilt he felt over it.
Miles past is not easy in the slightest, he has many demons that still haunt him to this day and living with them is very hard. He is still not over the accident, mentally or physically. He goes to a rehabilitation center to work up his leg and that’s where he unexpectdly meets Gelsey. They start off a bit rocky but when life keeps forcing them together and gives them a reprive in each other, they take it. Spending time together, getting to know each other and their own struggles grows a strong connection between them that soon grows into so much more.
But these characters are facing major things in their lives: Gelsey is about to live her dream and with it comes so much pressure and hard work. And Miles is finally starting to work through his emotions and getting some of what he lost years ago back, including himself. I loved watching him get bits and pieces of him and what he loved back, specially his friendship with Taryn, you’ve met her if you’ve read Lost for You (her and Chase’s book) or Down to You (Tori and Logan’s book).
These two brought a lot of emotion, turmoil, heartache to the table. Their story was unique, heartwrenching and so darn beautiful. Expect all the delicious heartache Jayne usually writes, expect more of her beautiful, haunting and inspirational words because Another Sky has that and so much more. Miles owns a piece of my heart. I truly loved him so much and I loved watching him get back to living. He deserved everything good and I’m so happy he found Gelsey and she helped him see that.
Another Sky is a truly beautiful and emotional read that will no doubt have you sniffing from time to time with the emotion ripping out of the pages and the turmoil that will fill your heart as you read their words. However, it’s also a lovely story about two people who find each other when they needed each other the most, and how they slowly start to heal themselves and see their true worth. But even then, it’s more than just Miles and Gelsey, it’s a story about how you don’t need to be blood to be family, about letting go of your past and the people you used to love but lost and finding new people and new things to love. It’s about true friendship and self care. It’s fun and lighthearted at times, Daryl and Miles will for sure have you laughing. It’s gripping, inspirational and just so darn amazing. If you’ve read Jayne Frost you know she writes beautiful heartstopping stories with all the emotion and that’s exactly what you’ll find in Another Sky. If you haven’t read her before, then I will just tell you that you need to!
This was such a heartfelt book. I miles and Greeley both had baggage that they tried to navigate and just get by. When they first meet it’s not all rainbows and hearts in their eyes, no they butt heads and don’t get along but Gresley is in a bad situation with little hope and takes Miles offer to help him in his aquatic therapy. She’s a ballerina and his a drummer, he experienced probably two of the worse things a person could and he’s just skating by, they both share pain in injuries but also on an emotional level where they connect. I absolutely adored them together they had great chemistry and Miles was the sweetest alpha ever.
Quite a good read. Heartbreaking and passionate. Would recommend this book to others.
3..5 stars
This book was my first by this author and I enjoyed the experience for the most part. It combined two of my favorite careers, dancing and being a Rockstar. It would have been rather difficult not to love Miles and Gelsey. I was able to connect with each of them on a personal level.
Miles Cooper had been the drummer in a world famous rock band until their tour bus was involved in a deadly crash that killed his bestfriend along with the girl he was in love with. Afterwards, Miles becomes entrenched in depression. He fights this every day.
Gelsey Howard has only had one true love in her life which was ballet. Her mother had been a prima ballerina from Russia. She had to give up dancing due to physical limitations that she was born with. Gelsey follows her in all aspects.
Miles and Gelsey’s first meeting begins an enemies to friends to lovers trope. Each one finds what they always needed in each other. Happiness was found again or even for the first time until the dark clouds roll in.
I saw so much potential in this love story from the very beginning. Several things seemed to be missing though. It was incredibly hard to forge a complete connection with all aspects of the story. It was as if I were constantly reaching for something that just wasn’t there. There was enough good in this that I will definitely be trying this author again.
Full length told in dual POV with HEA. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone, but the Sixth Street Band series is five of the best Rockstar romance books. Evan is first introduced in that series and there are a couple secondary characters from that series in this book as well. I loved the amount of time Miles and Gelsey spent together getting to know one another and becoming friends. Beautiful story that deals with real issues. I loved the epilogue, so great to see a few years into their future!
Five stars! This book elicited all the feels!
How many times could a heart be broken? After reading Another Sky by Jayne Frost I can answer that question, a heart can break as many times as fate decide and the wonderful thing is that it can’t be destroyed. Love has many shapes and colours. This book is filled with raw emotions, love, growth, and healing. It is a beautiful and epic romance. The lyrical prose and flawless writing is phenomenal and unique. I couldn’t love it more.
Jayne Frost penned a sultry and emotional novel with all the feels that made me experience so much the whole time I spent reading it. Words aren’t enough to describe how much the story told in this masterpiece touched my soul and pulled the strings of my heart. It was heart-wrenching, magical, and unforgettable! Another Sky is a supreme rock star and second chance romance that broke all the rules. If you think this is just another rock star romance, you are wrong because Another Sky is everything but common. Trust me on that.
Miles and Gelsey’s story was gripping and one of the most memorable romances I read. The slow burn attraction turned into a wild bonfire that consumed both characters and the chemistry between them was scorching hot, like liquid lava, so hot. A damage rock star and a young beautiful ballerina. Two hearts that fit their broken pieces to mend them. Two suns from another sky.
Miles broke the stereotype of damaged rock star. He is a man who experienced what real heart-breaking feels like. His love was stolen in a tragically accident and he never really recover. The scars are so deep that the pain he suffers is the only thing that make him feel alive. He just exists. He doesn’t want to be fixed. He won’t allow the people who care about him to be close to the darkness that is consuming his soul, not even a beautiful ballerina who slowly will break his walls or that’s what he thought.
On the other hand we have Gelsey, a struggling ballerina who does not have a penny to carry on with her career. Her only dream is to follow her mother’s steps and be a ballet dancer. Her reality is to work through debilitating pain and high expectations. Water therapy is how she works her health issues and it will bring her an unexpected way to win enough to follow her dream. Meeting a grumpy rock star will change her in more ways than she thought possible.
The pace of their story is a phenomenal way to discover that they need each other. Pain and struggling bring them together. Funny how fate works its magic! A chemistry that can’t be denied. The healing process of both characters is heart-breaking and heart-warming at the same time.
I love everything about this couple that won a very special place in my heart. Jayne Frost gifted us a great story in the only way she does. Their characters made me feel so much. My heart ached for Miles. I could feel his hurting. My soul felt connected to Gelsey. This book gave me one of the biggest book hangovers of my life. You really need to experience the emotional roller coaster this book is able to create, the one that unfold all the feels deep in your soul.
Loved this book!
Another Sky
By: Jayne Frost
Narrated by: Jacob Morgan, Desiree Ketchum
There is something about the writing style of Jayne Frost that drags me into her world and keeps me there for the entire story. I have listened to her entire Sixth Street Band series, and when Miles comes up, I am always intrigued by his character. I am so glad he is now getting his story told. Miles is a survivor of a terrible accident, claiming the lives of several of his bandmates, one very close to him. Learning to live with being a survivor is not easy, but he carries more than that over the incident, falls to his depression and is now years later trying to find his way back to the living. He will need help though, not just mentally but physically. Gelsey is a ballerina, shadowed by the fame of her mother, trying to break out and become her own person. She is on her way, but is in desperate need of money, and Miles may have a way to help her out. When the two lives collide, life changes and their stories begin. Frost intricately and compassionately weaves in so much into this, I don’t even know where to start. There is family history, happiness and disappointment, friendships that cannot be broken, hope, guilt, tragedy, you name it, and it is there. It has some angst, but written in a way that you aren’t pulled down by it, but find the hope and chance to change the sky. It’s my favorite of her books, not only because the story is so amazing, but the awareness brought to light of depression. It’s not sugar coated, but lets us feel the pain and darkness and how it can be dealt with…or not. And the inclusion of little things, like poems and flowers, benches and skies. It’s a beautiful listen and makes me appreciate how good life can be.
Frost’s decision to use Deriree Ketchum and Jacob Morgan was perfection. This casting brought all the emotions, all the feelings and every scene alive. I love Kecthum’s voice. She has the best nuances and inflections, and she found her place as Gelsey. Morgan brought the brooding, Miles to life, finding his darkness and light and making him real. The team was amazing!

Another Sky is the newest release in the awesome Sixth Street Band series. Miles and Gelsey’s sexy, emotional romance is a compelling read that completely captured me. The vivid writing brings these characters to life and their story touched my heart. Jayne Frost is an amazing writer and I loved this book.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Beautifully Written
Well, this book sure didn’t pull any punches. The author dived right in to a topic that affects so many people and no one feels at ease talking about. Depression and suicide. They don’t have to go hand in hand but there are times that they do and without their loved ones knowing that this is lurking in their heads.
Miles went through a tragedy when his band was at their peak and he came out on the other end a broken man. Gelsey was a woman who had lived through tragedy as well but she had her talent as a ballerina that helped her to keep striving forward doing the thing she loved.
Their relationship was a great love story that had your heart soaring and then breaking it only to put it back together again. Even though this story did not have a tragic end it took you on a ride that you soon won’t forget. I highly recommend this book.
I love rockstar romances and downloaded Jayne Frost’s Another Sky pretty much on that basis alone. I’m glad I did but for reasons that hand nothing to do with one if it’s leads, Miles, being a rocker. Rather it’s because of how powerfully painful, beautiful and romantic this novel is. Miles, you see, has gone from rockstar godhood to losing everything, the woman he loved and his best friend, in a crash. The other lead, dancer Gelsey, is the eventual redemption of his soul and redeemer of his heart. Watching these two deal with each other, grow, heal and develop is simply wonderful. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
This is my 3rd book by Jayne, and I love this series! Miles survived the bus crash that killed his best friend and almost girlfriend, but will he leave behind the pain and depression that his life has become. Gelsey is a ballerina on the brink of her career when Miles has her to help with his rehab. When the two discover some explosive chemistry between them, will they be able to survive the pressures put on them and the paparazzi? You have to read to find out and won’t want to put the book down until you turned the last page.
One of my book besties told me to read this book..thanks Jennifer.
At 84%, I was bawling my eyes out. Incredible, thought provoking, well written book that dealt with real issues.
Real issues with real solutions..nothing was sugar coated.
WOW! I want to read more from this author.

This story was beautifully written and well crafted. It delves in depression and second chances. Redeeming the Miles to the point that he has the ability to forgive himself with the help of Gelsey. She is the glue that he needs to pick up the pieces and to put his heart back together. What a wonderfully written and beautifully crafted story! Miss Jayne has done a amazing job of filtering her characters and making sure that whomever picks up her book will definitely become vested with her characters.
I received an Advanced Reading copy through Hidden Gems Books and am leaving a voluntary and honest review.
Jayne Frost is an immensely talented storyteller whose writing I find deeply satisfying. And while I knew I would love Another Sky, I was still blown away with the power of her words all over again. It’s been nearly a year since the release of the last book by this author, Down to You, and I have spent the time in between that book and this becoming reacquainted with the first five books in her Sixth Street Series just because I could. And just as satisfying as those rereads were, there was something about Another Sky… a dual POV story about second chances in love, healing and learning to love yourself that was powerful and deeply moving. It was an incredibly beautiful romance that was unpredictable and exquisitely well written! But it was also simply stunning in terms of Jayne’s writing. She’s got a quality to her storytelling that I find unique and the lyrical quality of her words fits well with the rockstar trope she writes.
Another Sky is steamy, passionate and truthfully?! Sheer perfection. The story is complex with a hero, Miles who walked away from a tour bus crash that killed his best friend and his girl… that leaves him broken in more ways than one. And a heroine, Gelsey whose only love has always been ballet until her body begins to break down after years of punishment. When these two opposites meet, it’s hate at first sight, but as they say, there is a slim line between love and hate. Another Sky is unlikely to leave you unscathed… it certainly didn’t leave me without heartache and happiness in equal measure and is one of those rare love stories that I treasure.
Quotes:
Gelsey was here. Gazing at me as if she carried the promise of another sky in her big blue eyes. One with no clouds threatening on the horizon.
I sounded desperate. And I guess I was. Desperate to find out what she meant by inexperienced. And eager to volunteer to help with her learning curve.
I feared she might fly away if I released her. Because she could. I’d seen her. And I knew I’d never separate the girl from the dance again. Not after tonight.
“Tell me something no one else knows.” You’re going to break my heart.
Gelsey might gift me with a dozen sunrises, but in the end, she’d leave me in the dark.
I’d never truly fit in here. I knew it. Russian, but not Russian enough. American, but not really. In the real world, it didn’t matter. The lines were fuzzy. But in this world— the dance world— I didn’t have a place to claim as my own. A home. Except with Miles. He was my home.
Gelsey and I were in it together. I’d give her all the days. And all the time. And she’d give me everything else.
Miles is struggling after the accident he not only lost his best friend but the love of his life. He feels lost and broken until gelsey walks into his life gelsey is alot like miles she feels lost and broken after the lost of her mother and her dad being a totally asshole leaving her with debuts. They both come together two Broken soul help putting each other back together again so a beautiful book to read I loved it
Jayne Frost has written a book that I could not help but fall in love with. It tackles a subject that not just any author can write with such realistic thoughts. I know this for a fact, because I’ve been where Miles has been.
If you enjoy a beautifully broken hero, and the truly gorgeous, inside and out, heroine that deserves his love, this book is for you.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. I will settle for writing this review, and recommending it everyone I know.
Jayne Frost writes books like poetry… like the lyrics to music. Her words ebb and flow. They make you and break you. They build you up and cut you down. Her characters seem to be built like your friends or your neighbors… real people with real problems. I know, I know… you’re thinking but Sara, these people are rockstars they are loaded and bonkers. Yes, they might have money but at the end of the day they still struggle with guilt, with letting their friends or family down. They still struggle with the shoulda, coulda, woulda feelings that we all struggle with.
I feel like I waited for the story of Miles way too long even though I know it was just since Tori’s book Down to You. I never go into Miss Frost’s books with preconceived notions because I don’t really know what I’m going to get. Although, I do usually know I am going to cry. And yes, yes I did. I knew Miles story was going to be hard. Survivors guilt is real and it’s a major struggle but it is way more than that too. I was smitten with Gelsey. I mean, her sweet, pure innocence warmed my heart. I have to mention that I was seriously impressed with the depth that Miss Frost went into to show us Gelsey’s struggle with dance. Her dedication in the face of her limitations was truly commendable. It could have been that respect that cracked into Miles frozen armor. No one really stands a chance against such pride.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
