The fourth Longmire novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Land of Wolves Fans of Ace Atkins, Nevada Barr, and Robert B. Parker will love the fourth mystery in New York Times bestselling author Craig Johnson’s award-winning Longmire Mystery series, the basis for LONGMIRE, the hit drama series now streaming on Netflix. It delivers more of the taut prose, engrossing characters, … of the taut prose, engrossing characters, beautiful Wyoming setting, and satisfying depth that reviewers have been hailing since his first book, The Cold Dish. In Another Man’s Moccasins, the body of a Vietnamese woman dumped along the Wyoming interstate opens a baffling case for Sheriff Longmire, whose only suspect is a Crow Indian with a troubled past. But things get even stranger when a photograph turns up in the victim’s purse that ties her murder to one from Longmire’s past—a case he tackled as a Marine Corps investigator forty years earlier in Vietnam.

One of the early Longmire novels has Sheriff Longmire on the trail of a deranged killer who has escaped from custody. The trail leads through the Bighorn Mountains in the dead of winter. Longmire encounters Virgil White Buffalo who appeared in an earlier novel; an intriguing character with a haunting backstory. A gripping and original book.
love the Longmire novels!!!
I’m really enjoying this series. It’s almost as good as the show (lol). I loved the show and the books give you an insight into Walt’s thinking, which was not always apparent in the show. For this installment, I chose the audiobook and I really liked the narrator because he actually sounded like Walt (Robert Taylor).
Typically, I’m not a big fan of the audiobook version because I actually enjoy reading a book. However, I recently started listening to this book on my morning and evening exercise periods and I really got into this book because of the narrator (and the storyline too). My biggest issue with audiobooks the past few times I tried them was I couldn’t stand listening to the narrators and their voices and narration really took away from the story. But, I liked this narrator and may continue with audiobooks for this series, providing that it’s the same narrator.
Love all the novels in this series. Craig Johnson keeps you intrigued and entertained. This novel expressed some of the tragedy of the Vietnam War. Excellent book.
Walt Longmire series has been strong from book to book and this one is one exception.
Well researched modern “western”- wonderful description of rural life in Wyoming mountain area
Loved the series on Netflix so I started reading some of the books. Good stories, solid characters, enjoyable reads.
All his books were great until his last two which were disappointing. Go Herd
Started reading the Longmire series after watching the TV show. Books are much better.
Craig Johnson just writes damned good stories. Love Walt and Bear.
Longmire’s world is encompassing and draws me along. I will keep reading all these books in order. Better than the tv series. Great fun.
I love all the Walt Longmire books, and Another Man’s Moccasins was no exception. The writing is crisp, clean, and witty, and the characters are consistently appealing. Two thumbs up!
Great writing by the literary talented mystery author – if you like mysteries this series is a must read. If you don’t like mysteries you may still like the series!
You can’t go wrong with Craig Johnson
if you liked the Iongmire tv series this is the man who wrote the characters and stories.
Love the Longmire series, the characters and writing style make the stories.
One of the best mystery series out there!
This Longtime mystery gives us a lot of his backstory, with two cases, one temporary, and one during his service as an investigator in Vietnam during the war.
Having seen the ATV series I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did.
This is a nice adventure mystery with very well done characters. Bonus, I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the small-town West and about Vietnam.
