A Common Elements Romance Project novel.Carol Anderson is enjoying her retirement as mayor of their small town. She is happily running her Bed and Breakfast and letting someone else steer their city. The sexy architect that arrives on the ferry to help with a building project tempts, but he is not for her, she’s been widowed too long to start all over again with a man.Max Radcliff’s twin brother … Radcliff’s twin brother never once mentioned what a gorgeous woman, former mayor, Carol is. When Carol receives the deed to a long abandoned Victorian house, Max agrees to examine it for her. The “house” turns out to be a mansion where the inside dimensions do not match the outside. Keys go missing, doors open and close, noises are unaccounted for. Neither of them believe in ghosts or haunted houses, but they cannot explain the odd things happening either.

I absolutely loved this book I love the mayor and I can’t wait for more to come
A surprisingly good read. I normally like my characters young, but this newest release has mature characters that doesn’t disappoint. I enjoyed Carol and Max’s journey to discovering love a second time. They have an intense chemistry that made for some hot sizzling loving. An entertaining storyline and mystery galore made this romance story a must read.
This book simply made me feel.
It was a quick easy read.
This is the 8th book in this amazing series and is Max and Carol’s story. Carol is the owner of a small-town B & B, and Max is an architect who arrives in town to work on a project. When Carol inherits and abandoned mansion, Max offers to help her restore it, but things are not what they seem in this mansion. This is a well written 2nd chance at love story which is fun, mysterious, entertaining and with puzzles and riddles that need to be solved. This is a quick read which I recommend for all.

one of my favorite books, I really enjoyed this story. I liked that Max and Carol were a mature couple in their 50’s. It was fun to read how they both grew closer as they worked together. Max and Carol had such great chemistry together. My first book by Ms. Penick and I look forward to reading more of her books.
Review copy was received for a honest opinion.
4*
Carol was the town mayor but runs the bed & breakfast.
Max has been sent by his twin Wes to help with the architect project for the church.
The two come together when carol has a mystery to solve.
But not everything is easy & plain sailing.
I’ve enjoyed reading this book and loved carols personality and the strength she shows. Wes was also likeable and wanted to help and do his best.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Mystery and romance.
This was such a fun, quick read. I loved the mystery element of the Zimmerman house. You don’t normally see puzzles and riddles in romance novels, so it made it that much more entertaining to watch Max and Carol grow closer as they worked to figure it out.
I especially loved that this was a seasoned romance and both characters were in their fifties. Life doesn’t stop just because the kids grow up and move out of the house. We still have emotions and desires and the need to express them. This couple is a smoking example of mature passion.
Is it possible to gain weight from reading? Every time I read about one of Carol’s latest breakfast creations… or something from Amber’s restaurant… or from the bakery… I think I gained five pounds. I was literally drooling.
Read this book. You’re going to love it. Just remember to hunker down with snacks — you’re gonna get the munchies!
