Description: The business of love is dangerous.
For … is dangerous.
For Jennifer Kent, a recent MBA graduate who has been searching for work in Manhattan for four long months, time and money are running out. If she doesn’t find work soon, she’ll need to return to her native Maine, where the job situation is even more bleak.
And where her abusive parents lie in wait.
But when an unorthodox arrangement is proposed, Jennifer decides to take it. She agrees to be the “girlfriend” of Alexander Wenn, the reluctant, billionaire CEO of Wenn Enterprises, who is so devastatingly good looking, he needs a beautiful woman like Jennifer on his arm to “keep the wolves at bay.”
In this case, the wolves are other women, all of whom vie for his attention so aggressively, they keep him from focusing on business at the exclusive events he must attend. It’s there that deals are cut. What they want is his money and his power. Damaged by a past event, the only thing Alex wants to do is focus on work. And to forget the past.
But can Jennifer deny their white-hot chemistry? As she’s swept into this glittering otherworld of society and big business, she finds herself struggling to keep from falling for Alex, an almost impossible feat she nevertheless must meet.
Armed with her MBA, Jennifer Kent knows about business. But what she doesn’t know is what could destroy her–the business of protecting her own heart. And maybe her own life when it’s put on the line time and again.

I really enjoyed this series!
This series blew me away! The character development was amazing. I could not put any of these books down. As the story kept continuing the relationship between Alex and Jennifer. Ms Blackwells character just blew me away. She was a force to reckoned with and added so much to this series!
Not a bad series but it kinda drug in parts.
Determination. That is the basis of this series. What makes this story, is the way the characters mesh flawlessly together. Jennifer, with her fierce bravado to move on from her childhood. Lisa, with the unwavering bond of extreme friendship. Blackwell!!!! She became one of my favorite characters ever! Alex, his gut wrenching devastation from all the loss he has suffered. Tank…such a loyal confidant. I don’t know if I would even classify this series as romance. In my opinion, this series is about overcoming personal demons and the triumph that comes with it.
This is a special kind of love.
This is the story of Alex & Jennifer. Alex inherited Wenn Enterprises from his father. Jennifer applied for a secretarial job, even though she has a degree in business. She had a falling out with the woman who interviewed her. She met Alex in the elevator and didn’t know who he was and spilled her story to him. She got a call the next day to come in for an Executive Assistant position for him. It lands up that Alex needs an escort for functions. She accepts it. She’s making a phenomenal salary, and free clothes and jewelry. She is going to pose as his girlfriend. There is chemistry between them. Through all the walls they set up for themselves, and all the ups and down they go through, all prevails in the end. I loved the two main charactes, and the secondary ones. I have to say that the woman who interviewed her in the beginning, Blackwell, was a truly special character. There is a lot of action in this box set. There is love, devotion, suspense, mystery, and most of all love. This is a great box set, and it’s one you won’t be able to put down. Christina Ross keeps you engrossed from beginning to end. Moving on to read more of her books.
This was a roller coaster – just when things looked like they were going to head to HEA, another complication arose. Fairly well edited.
Jennifer moved to New York to leave behind a painful past and embrace a new future. Unfortunately, finding a new job has not been as easy as anticipated. Leaving yet another failed interview, Jennifer meets a man on an elevator. He seems nice and listens to her troubles. As she leaves, she looks back, bumping into a man and losing her resumes in the process. The nice man, Alex, comes to help her rescue her resumes. She goes home and makes a new plan for her future. The next day, the woman she interviewed with calls and asks her come in and interview for a different job. Turns out, she is offered the opportunity to be a pretend girlfriend to help Alex fend off unwanted advances and concentrate on business. Jennifer accepts and begins her new job. The first outing ends in disaster and Jennifer walks away, returning to Plan B. Alex refuses to give up, and sets out to win Jennifer over as a real girlfriend. Will Jennifer forgive Alex? And if she does, what adventures and trouble await them? Will they survive to a HEA?
Overall, I enjoyed this read. It moved along well, and was filled with likable characters. Great for the beach or when you have a full day to kick back and read. Enjoy.
