The grief that Anna walks through is well described and poignant. Nick’s grief is no less emotional. This book deals with the grief of not only, losing a person you love, but the death of dreams. However, it also deals with the rebirth of new dreams and a love that brings healing and life to family. I felt like the grief that was displayed among the children brought out a side that can often be neglected when children lose a parent tragically. This wasn’t just a romance, though. Mystery surrounds the death of Anna’s husband and I had to purchase book two because I was hooked. Waiting for book 3….
Just a really clean romance with some unsure moments. Wonderful characters and of course a happily ever after.
Awesome
A great book.
I liked that the author considered several issues within the story: accurate descriptions of small children, accurate portrayal of military life, realistic view of mourning the loss of a beloved husband, and finally reasonable portrayal of living a faith-filled life. I will look for other books by this author.
Finding this book is a pleasant surprise! Here’s a well-told story by an author who can really write and unfold a dramatic tale that keep you interested in the characters. The back-and-forth POV between Anna and Nick works well; they’re different enough that the contrasts are fun to track. Both are appealing characters, and the reader easily roots for their romance to get to a satisfying finish line.
Not many authors succeed in finding the right pitch for the Christian element, but Kristin Noel Fischer does that just about as well as anyone! Spiritual moments come, but they’re light and gracious, often even poignant. This book is not preachy or insufferably pious, and believe me, that’s a breath of fresh air in this genre.
Okay, I will offer one gentle critique in that regard. There is too much WINKING in inspirational fiction. Everyone in the story is always tossing everyone else a wink. And I get it: all of us who are writers want to convey that people of faith are happy and warm-hearted and living a joy-filled life. But I honestly don’t think we wink more than other people. (I don’t wink at all.) If we want to convey generous happiness, how about giving each other cups of Baskin-Robbins ice cream? Just a thought.
That one extremely tiny complaint aside, Ms. Fischer has given us a stellar book series worth checking out.
Super book. It gives the reader insight into the challenges of military families and encourages facing fears.
Good book.
I loved this book! It included great Christian values, realistic characters, and excellent dialogue. It held my interest to the end.
inspirational
It was realistic. The character’s struggles with anxiety are relatable. Losses do change us and we do need others to get us through.
Once I read this book I went on to look up the author. I’ve never read her books before. I’ve since read several good books from her.
I really enjoy reading this book.
Loved the characters would love to read more about them and the families in the community
If you love a good read, then read ….
Enjoyed this one so much that I bought the 2nd one in the series and I’m enjoying it now. Great read and story.
Loved this story. The author brings to life the characters. Especially when describing the children’s emotions as they are so real. With baby Gabby, the author really knows how a baby reacts to different situations (when she’s scared, happy, etc. and her 10 year old sister Hailey having to deal with losing her parents in a car accident and her Uncle Nick hitting a deer with his car. I felt I was right there with them. It was a refreshing story of a loving family giving each other sound advice dealing their daily trials.
Absolute loved this book! Realistic characters working through real life situations. I loved how they helped each other work through their various issues while slowly falling in love. Beautifully written Christian romance.
I really enjoyed it.
Very easy to read, easy to like characters. Quick read with a little romance but nothing gratuitous.
