I utterly adore this book! This was my second time reading it, and it was just as big-hearted and delightfully romantic as it was the first time. There is something so compelling about Stephanie Perkins’ characters, and I just have the best time reading about their happily ever afters.
By now it’s obvious that I like to veer off from my standard genre and dive into the YA world. I’d seen this book and avoided it for YEARS before I finally decided to give it a go. Why didn’t I read it the second everyone was talking about it? I have no idea? I don’t know WHY i stayed away from it for so long. But let me tell you- I was an idiot. LOL Because this book was so much fun, and so good that I immediately read the others and fell in love as well. This book was perfect. It was everything I needed and didn’t know I wanted. I want them all in hardback now. But I want them signed. Someone make that happen. K thanks bye. lol
This quick read had so much more depth in the plot and characters than I thought it would. At first I believed it was just going to be a light and fluffy contemporary as a summer read, but I actually reared up a few times while reading this book.
I love reading books set in Paris! I really liked Etienne’s character. I just struggled with how dramatic everyone was and how little they communicated about feelings. I didn’t like the focus on sex either. I did like that Anna and Etienne seemed to become better people because they met each other.
This is going to be a hard pill to swallow but…it wasnt good ..at all.
Dont come at me now …just let me explain why i didnt like it.
Why would someone not want to go to paris be it for studying just why not?!
Anna is supposed to be a movie buff and wants to be a movie critic but doesn’t know Paris is the home of freaking film.!!
The way she is suprised by the fact that paris has cinemas ….Jesus Christ.
She calls herself a movie buff but knows nothing of the french cinema???
Etienne.. am i spelling it right?
Is an …okish character but sounds a little cliche as he is an american with a bristish accent and a french name yet this is the first time i have read of the guy being shorter than the girl but hey!….. atleast he looks good and has great hair.
ID s
TheY both in a way like eachother uk the “ i like you so i am going to tease you and pull your braids” type of thing but they can’t get together because guess what … he has a girlfriend who is in college.
There is no tension between them like…ever …there is just a lot of drama and slut shaming and crying and its not that i dont love a book with drama but this one just made me feel like ugh..why ??
I felt that Anna and Etienne could have been better off as bestfriends because honestly it was always a thought in my head that why do they like eachother cuz you can see that they are better off as friends.
But there are also some parts that i genuinely liked.
They mentioned a lot of old cinematic films which is knowledgeable and how much Etienne loved history and talked about it all the time … this books made me feel like i already visited those beautifully described places …that was where i felt passion as compared to their relationship.
it was a ok read but i didnt like it as i was expecting cute and fun read but it didnt reach that level of commitment.

I adore this book, Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins! If you’re looking for a fun teen romance involving international travel and lovable characters, this is it! Anna is an earnest, spunky Atlanta teen with a love for cinema. She dreams of becoming a film critic. She’s also an endearing germophobe. Her BFF is a girl named Bridge, and her co-worker at the movie theater? Well, let’s say he might become something more than a co-worker. Anna’s life is progressing just fine in Georgia, thank you very much, when her father decides– despite Anna’s protests– to send her away for senior year to a boarding school in Paris.
On her first night at the “School of America in Paris,” Anna is sobbing her heart out, when the friendly girl-next-dorm, Meredith, comes to her rescue with some hot chocolate. Anna quickly fits in with Meredith’s clique of artsy friends, and is instantly smitten with Meredith’s crush, a charismatic London boy – with perfect hair – named Étienne St. Clair. Unfortunately for both Anna and Meredith, Étienne already has a serious girlfriend. But it’s evident that Anna’s feelings for Étienne might be reciprocated, despite the fact that Étienne keeps (infuriatingly!) returning to his girlfriend. No sweat, Anna tells herself: there’s still that guy back home. …Or is there?
In a year of serendipity, confusion, heartache and forgiveness, the funny, reliable Anna and charming Étienne take on Paris, navigating the winding roads of their awkward, puzzling, and ambiguous best-friendship. Romantic comedy-esque he-said/she-said fills these pages, but in a well-written, addictive way. (I was so engrossed, I was literally dreaming about this book at night!) Following Anna’s hilariously self-deprecating thoughts and entertaining inner monologues in the first person, present tense, often felt like stepping into my own brain. It was easy to relate to Anna and get wrapped up in her emotions. I loved how genuine and candid she was, not ashamed to show her passion, but also able to laugh at herself and admit her shortcomings. Étienne is also a three-dimensional, convincing character. He practically jumps off the page– all of Perkins’s characters do. Believable, tangible characters and realistic dialogue are this author’s greatest strengths. I also enjoyed the travel aspect of the novel, as Anna adjusts to the culture shock of life in Paris.
Anna and the French Kiss is a sweet (and at times heartbreaking) romance for young adults. One scene that sticks with me is Anna and Étienne’s bittersweet Thanksgiving holiday in Paris. This book is light and funny, yet heartfelt, sometimes tear-jerking. A good read.
I’ve been watching a lot of booktok and this book has been very popular so I thought why not give it a try and I’m glad I did. It was super cute. If you’re looking for something easy and sweet to read this book is totally for you. I mean who doesn’t want hot boys with sexy accents. I know I’m not complaining. I will say that if you do not want a cliché romance then this is not for you. I knew who the love interest was going to be right away. I love a good cliché romance and that’s exactly what I got. There are some characters you are going to absolutely hate if you’re like me. First off I don’t like her dad. I think he’s a jerk and one thing that I absolutely hate in books is people abandoning their family and then trying to come back and play family and boss. St. Clair’s dad is not a good person. He’s controlling and rude and has basically tried to ruin every aspect of St. Clair’s life. Then we have Amanda, who is your typical mean girl. And then there’s Bridgette, we start out liking her, and then she does something that only really sucky friend would do but I’m not going to tell you what she does so that you have to read it now because you want to know what she did. This book is set in Paris and I am absolutely obsessed with Paris like my bedroom AND bathroom are Paris-themed. Little side note I am not yelling at you when I type in all caps, in fact, I don’t know why I did that, it’s just fun. Back to Paris, it’s so very cute to have a romance book set in Paris because Paris is so romantic. You should go read this book now and I mean NOW.

This was a fun, laugh out loud, page turner. I love a good “friends to lovers” story and I also love his this book focused on both friendships & romantic love. It was just as satisfying to see Anna’s personal growth as it was to see her relationship developing with Etienne. Paris and SOAP were a super fun back drop for the story. This was an overall enjoyable, immersive romantic read!
Honestly this book was amazing! It left me on the edge of my seat and left me crying! Such a good story and so relatable!! Loved it
I finally got around to reading this and it was as adorable as I thought it would be!
This is not my usual pick, because I like my romance firmly mixed with the supernatural. Alas, after reading a sad-ending book, this was the pick-me-up I needed. It took a while for Ana to grow on me, to be honest, but I was rooting for these two characters by the end.
I had heard so much hype about this book that when I finally got a chance to get my hands on it, I couldn’t resist. I am a sucker for YA Contemporary Romance so there was no reason for me not to read it.
Well…I was immediately sucked into the story line and read it every chance that I got. I have to admit that the writing style irked me a little bit at first, though I’m not exactly sure why. I loved the characters, the setting and the story so much that Anna and The French Kiss was a very quick read for me.
I don’t think I’m as crazy about it as a lot of people are, but I can’t deny that it was a damn good YA Contemporary. I would definitely read it again.
Character: St. Clair.
Rating: 4 Stars.
This was an easy read with funny banter. Thats the best part about this book.
Its about Anna going to a boarding school in Paris her senior year (and upset about it).
She is selfish and not a great friend but at least she realizes this towards the end. She also claims to be huge into film and writes a blog, but she is surprised to learn there are cinemas in Paris. Paris, people.
St. Claire comes off as your typical YA heart throb. Im so glad he isnt a jerk like in so many YA’s. I dont like how he treats his girlfriend though.
**There was heavy kissing, sexual remarks, RA passes out free condoms, lots of talk of sex, and some bad language.
I always love a good romance for summer reading, and though this one doesn’t officially take place in the summer, that’s kind of where it ends up. It’s a fun, romantic, easy read that leaves you with a satisfying, feel-good vibe. Plus, kissing.
Anna’s story of self-discovery and love was exciting, full of teen angst, passion, and fun. I will caution parents that I found this book in the ‘young adult’ section of the library. It contains profanity, sexual humor and situations, alcohol consumption, and minor violence. I personally would not want my young teen to read this story without parental guidance and discussion. Otherwise a very enjoyable story by Stephanie Perkins.
