The Royal Bastards are ruthless, vindictive, and hot! Ker Dukey rolled into town with Animal and dragged me into her world. I was so invested in Animal, I may as well have earned my patch! This story is more than a biker story. It’s a tale of an innocent love that grows into something complicated, unstoppable, and incredibly intense. Though Alec and Drew’s lives change a lot since they were two children who were best friends, often turning ugly, their love only morphed into something beautiful and sacred. I rooted for them every step of the way. The emotions in this book had me flipping pages as fast as I could! I love me a hero who lives his life fro the woman he loves, and Alec the Animal was that man. Every breath he took, it was for Drew. Always for Drew. This book will leave you breathless and your heart in your throat. It’s a wild ride, but one helluva journey! – Five ANIMAL IS BAE stars!
I won an arc in the readers group and I have to say did I win!
This book is amazing with hot bikers and tough ol’ ladies. They will sweep you off your feet and make you wish you lived in thier world longer. Drew and Alec are amazing characters that grow up from young kids into adults and we get to join this adventure with them. They find love, experience heratbreak, and even loose some that are important to them. I can’t wait to continue this ride with the next book.
Life in and of the MC isn’t easy growing up biker has its challenges. Ker brings those challenges forefront in her newest release.
Growing up Biker love the term *smiles* for friends who were inseparable to that sweet call it puppy love, that develops as they grow older. All is good until it isn’t.
When the MC is betrayed a payment must be made and by who? the animal, the brother up for his patch. The payment in death that if Animal does the due could very well destroy not just him but her as well. Stand by to stand by.
Intense, hot, damn and good. Grab it, immerse yourself in the Newest Dukey Story. EnjoyKer Dukey
Animal (Royal Bastards MC)
Alec and Drew
This book was well written and was told in such away that keeps u wanting to
What will become of MC.
Overall this book meet my expectations and more.
I love how this author explain about the MC and how they’re were introduced in the story. What Alec and drew face will only bring them closer to each other at the end in my opinion this book was awesome I voluntarily read an advance reader copy and my opinion are my own.
Animal is the first book in the Royal Bastards MC series. We briefly met Animal in Bad Good Neighbor in the Love in Lockdown Anthology. It was only a glimpse but enough to keep me wanting to know more about him. This is Alec and Drew’s story.
Alec and Drew have a special bond. Drew’s not just any girl. She’s Alec’s best friend. One he shouldn’t have feelings for. Especially the son of the Royal Bastard President.
“Save your love for the road. If you give it to a woman, she’ll use it to control you—even after she’s left you.”
His dad sees affection as weakness, but it will never change how he feels for Drew especially when she feels the same about him.
“I’ve always known I loved him, ever since I was six years old and he called me a badass for cutting my hair off after a kid mocked me for my pigtails.”
Something bad has happened turning their lives upside down. Drew feels betrayed and runs from the only life she has ever known.
“When soul mates untether, you’re left with a gaping hole inside your chest, eating away everything you thought you were.”
Not everything is what she believes and he’ll do whatever it takes to find her. To know the truth and bring her back to where she belongs.
This book will take you on a journey. An amazing ride!
Animal is a friends to lovers, second chance romance, and if you’re looking for an all-consuming story but don’t have a lot of free time this is perfect.
Alec and Drew were growing up side by side, children of patched members, and the older they get the more they both come to realize that they have feelings for one another. It was sweet, reading their past and seeing as they evolved from friends to lovers, and then it wasn’t sweet, it was heartbreaking.
Drew is faced with a real life nightmare, and under the circumstances she sees no other option, she runs away from everything, including Alec. She was sassy, and she backed it up with actions when needed. She was lethal in her own right and it worked for her fiery personality.
Alec is faced with an earth shattering situation, and as he tries to wrap his head around the events that transpired, Drew is gone, and the calm she instilled in him vanishes and the sweet boy she knew becomes the animal she left behind.
The chemistry between Alec and Drew is as palpable as ever when they come face to face for the first time in years. The heartache of the past is just that, until the past and present collide as more tragedies surround this MC.
This was addictive and I will immediately be starting book 2. The chemistry between Alec and Drew along with the heart racing suspense and intrigue that has me clamoring to begin Rage’s story.

In Animal readers are introduced to Alec Walker and Drew Wells. Alec and Drew grew up in a MC clubhouse. Alec’s father is Viking, Royal Bastard President, a merciless killer. Drew is Mitch’s daughter. He’s a clubmember. Alec is two years older than Drew they’ve been by each other’s side since she was six years old.
Animal is a coming-of-age biker romance between best friends. It was expected since Alec was born to get patched in. Drew wanted a life outside the club life. She wanted to go away to college hoping Alec would follow.
I’m a long time fan of Ker Dukey’s work. Her writing style and voice calls to me. I can devour a book in a few hours when she’s the reason behind the words. Ker Dukey takes everyday words crafting them into magic. She transports me to another world with her talented words.
There’s an exception to that writing style. When it comes to MC story’s I’m not in favor of them. I don’t like the lifestyle of violence, killing, and slut shaming women. I figured with Ker Dukey behind the words I’d be interested. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to matter whose behind the words when it comes to MC biker story’s my interest fades.
To me it’s the same old song and dance. A character driven story about corrupt men fighting against each other drinking and partying.
I was hoping Ker Dukey could pull something original out of her hat, unfortunately she falls within the same category as ever other writer who creates a biker story, it’s just unappealing. The lifestyle just isn’t interesting. Somebody needs to break the mold and I was hoping it would be Ker Dukey. It was predictable. I knew before the big reveal who to look for.
Animal is book 1 in the Royal Bastards MC: Little Rock series. Animal is Alec and Drew’s story. This can be read as a standalone. Book 2 is not a continuation of there story. Rage is Gabe’s story. You meet him briefly in book 1.
This is a well written book, it’s got love, acion, violence and everything else one expects from a good MC romance. I really enjoyed they way the author gave a deeper insite into Drew/Alec dynamic before they became adults. I loved reading about their devotions and promises. I also really love gritty MCs, so it was nice to read about the MC before it changed. The plot line was also well developed and on the unique side.
My issue is with the dichotomy within. The fist 1/3 of this story, where the characters we’re still kids was much more powerful then the last 2/3s. It also read like two completely different stories put together. If asked I would have said two different writers.
In the beginning (first 1/3) Drew was strong and bold and tough. While Alec was cocky, and alpha, and strong. The MC was dark and gritty and violent. Once the characters were adults (last 2/3), everything changed to the opposite. Drew was soft and weak and vomited at any violence or darkness. Animal (Alec) was not and animal, he was sweet and caring and loving and I never read a hint of his darkness coming back. The MC read like a bunch of bickering immature children until almost the end.
I still enjoyed this despite not connecting to the story and I will be reading tge next story, and more from this author. If you get a chance to read Grim, it’s a prequel to this series, do it. It’s definitely growly, hotter and gruffer. I want more like that!
I’d heard great things about this book from friends and usually when my expectations are high I find myself a little disappointed…… not this time though. I practically read Animal in one sitting!! I had briefly met the Royal Bastards MC in Ker Dukey’s Bad/Good Neighbor, which was released in the Love in Lockdown anthology. I absolutely loved that short story, and I should have known that this author would have me clicking that 5 star button once again.
I adore Alec. He’s one of a kind in the MC world and the love he has for Drew has been incredible to witness. I absolutely loved getting to know both him and Drew and the history that they share. Friends from an early age with strong feelings for each other that make them destined to be together – that’s how it was meant to be! However more often than not things don’t go the way we plan them to, and there are some twists and turns in this story that don’t make life easy for Alec and Drew.
Animal had all that you expect in a MC story but I feel that for those who enjoy their stories on the lighter side of dark, this would be perfect. The ending leads us nicely into the next Royal Bastards book by Ker which is Rage. There will be no surprises when I say that I am heading straight into that story next!
This series was AMAZING!!,
I definitely added Ker Dukey as a fav MC romance author. She wrote this series like she has written MC books for years!!
I will try and patiently await her next book in this genre lol
2nd Chance MC love story
I purchased this from Amazon and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is part of a multi author MC series but can be read as a standalone. It is not a hardcore MC story.
Triggers: murder, kidnapping
**spoilers**
Alec aka Animal and Drew met as children when their parents were part of the same MC. After Drew’s father is thought to be a traitor to the club and is killed, Drew runs away before Alec’s father Viking, the MC President could order her killed or worse.
A tragedy years later brings Drew back to town and to Alec. Drama, secrets revealed. HEA
Not a bad little story. Alec aka Animal is just an average guy in love with his girl. Even after she leaves him, he never stopped thinking about her. Once they are reunited, the chemistry is still there. Drew also never forgot about Alec. Less MC story, more 2nd chance love story.
I’m not a big fan of MC stories. Don’t get me wrong I love a man in a motorcycle but I’m not fan of motorcycle clubs at all.
I loved this story since the beginning. Alec is a wonderful kid and Drew the same. They had grown up together and the love they have for each other is beautiful to see it.
The best part of this story was how cold Alec was with everybody and so amazing with Drew. Sadly life changed their story in a rough way. Times go fast for them but the love they had was ever forgotten.
It was a beautiful story with a dark side for a motorcycle club.
I can’t wait to read RAGE.
Alec and Drew have a love that lasts over the years. A well written, character driven, great read. This author grabbed me and did not let go, insisting I finish what I started – now! My first read by Ker – definitely, not my last.
This book shows that maybe your heart does come back to you if you only wait so long. They both confide that they never forget the other. They always where the one for the other.
If you’ve read this author’s work in the past, then dark and gritty and dare I say waaaaay out there should not be out of the realm of possibility. She always does a spectacular job of giving the reader larger than life, sometimes preposterous lol, plot points in the story that make complete sense but only because she wrote it. She has her own special magic.
Animal is going to be a bit softer than what you’d expect but I think that’s because of the childhood friends to more trope. The story is told from beginning to now and I think because of that, a bit less of the MC world darkness and grit is not on the page. This is also the beginning of a series within a larger series so we will probably be seeing these two in future books.
I really like this author, but I won’t lie and say she’s for everyone. Read her work with an. open mind and be sure to understand what she is trying to deliver. It may not always be the way you think it should be delivered, but it is always her way
Alec and Drew have been best friends since she was 6 and he was 7. They were both kids from a biker MC family, and over time their relationship evolves to a powerful love, but sadly betrayal and misunderstanding play a big part in tearing this relationship apart and Drew runs. Only Animal never gives up hope that she would return and he never stopped looking for her. Finally Drew returns but not for a happy reason she comes for her aunts funeral, but one look at Animal and she knew he’d never let her fo again. This is such a great love story full of twist and turn, and one hell of a ride!
ANIMAL is the first book in Ker Dukey’s Royal Bastards MC series and is Alec and Drew’s story.
Since this is the first book in the series, we were able to get introduced to a whole host of characters, but our main couple is the prince and princess of the club. Drew truly knows how to hold her own in the tough MC world and Alec is fierce and loyal, but has a heart of gold. They had a special bond from early on, but things take a turn for the worse when she walks away from everything she has known since birth.
Although this was a quick read, it was well developed and not only introduced us to many ins and outs of the MC we did get a fully developed story of Alec and Drew. I am so anxious to see what comes next with Rage!
Hero (Alec) 5 | Heroine (Drew) 5 | Plot 4 | Writing Style 5 | Steam 4 | Romance 3 | Angst-Suspense 4 | Darkness 3 | Humor 1 | Secondary Characters 4 | Drama-Conflict 4 | Mystery 4 | Twists 4 | Action 4 | Pacing Fast | Dual POV | MF | MC | Overall 5 Stars

Oh my dayz. Animal is another brilliant story by this author. I couldn’t resist and ended up devouring this in one sitting.
Drew and Alex what a story. On their own they are both strong likeable characters. Together they are so good.
This is a great read. It certainly pulled me through so many emotions.
This is a brilliant addition to the Royal Bastards MC. Can’t wait to read more from this awesome author.
What a fantastic addition to the Royal Bastards series! I think this is the first book that I have read by this author and I have already pre-order Rage!!
What a fantastic read! Alec and Drew have been friends forever, growing up in the MC they get closer and closer……….And then tragedy tears them apart, brutally. Heart totally broken!
And I did NOT see THAT either! And the ending has me waiting in anticipation for the next book in this Chapter.
For me the good thing about the Royal Bastards MC series is you can cherry pick which book you read because they are not connected. When Animal popped up and I saw it was by Ker reading it was a no brainer for me as I am a huge fan of her writing.
We first meet Alec and Drew as young children, I just loved their innocent friendship set against the backdrop of their life as part of the MC family. The story follows them as they get older so we get to know them really well. I was waiting on them taking that step towards romance that realisation of how they feel about each other made me cheer. Drew is no push over she’s a sassy opinionated fiesty young woman who can take care of herself. Alec does the hot moody alpha so well but with Drew we see the tender caring side of him.
The MC drama brings all the action I look for and it also changes their lives forever and Animal is born. This storyline is thrilling and fast paced.
