I read this decades ago and wanted to re-read it now – in 2020. Was fascinating to watch things change and to see facts twisted into a “new truth” – illustrates the danger of repeatedly hearing things that that didn’t really happen – but eventually become the new truth. I’ve often referred to this as “victory by erosion” – and it is not a good …
Not a fan of this book
Required Reading in Senior Year of High School in 1978. But you should read it none the less
Read this in high school. The book haunts me to this day.
I love this book. Read it for the first time in high school and NEVER forgot it. Haunting and it the story seems to be coming to life right before my eyes in this present time. A MUST READ.
Without a doubt, a classic.
What a wonderful book that talks about the injustices of the modern age. I really enjoyed this book and it opened my eyes to what corruption fills our planet.
A classic. Timely, given the current state of affairs in our country.
Speaks to what is going on in this country right now. I read this in college, and have never forgotten it.
I have read this for classes, and I would have abandoned it had it not been a required read. Stylistically it is not the type of book I read and I just didn’t like it.
Review for the Portuguese reader. Livro fácil e curto. Dá para o estudante de inglês ler no original compreendendo quase tudo, mas há boas traduções. Todos somos iguais, mas alguns de nós somos mais iguais que os outros. Se gostar, leia 1984, do mesmo autor.
This book is an allegory and important to read.
an expose of sorts on socialism/communism told thru barn yard animals. ehhh, boring read. Disappointing after reading 1984
I read this a long time ago and it was ok, but seemed a bit unreal. Now, the behavior of the children in the book seems to be a perfect allegory for the politicians in DC. I fear for us as a nation becoming an “Animal Farm”.
Hated this book years ago and still feel the same.
A short novel with a very powerful message.
A literary quintessence. The book is ingenious. For a book written in is time, reading it in today’s world gives an enlightened and haunting perspective on society.
What happens when common sense meets liberals.
True to socialism endgame.
Political satire, bitterly prophetic.
Especially relevant today!
