I thought this was a really good. I laughed so hard from some of the crazy things that happened. Maggie Hudson lost her dog Kirby. Her friend saw Kirby on the tv show with Spencer Corbett the Dragon’s hockey player. Maggie chased down Spencer to get her beloved dog back. Spencer didn’t want to give back Kirby because of his older sick dog. After allowing Spencer to keep Kirby, Maggie visited her dog and they became close. Kate Willoughby book Animal Attraction is a book about friends falling in love and dealing with surprises. I love reading hockey books that shows the author’s knowledge of the game. It was fast paced and believable, I hated when it ended.
Kate Willoughby’s ANIMAL ATTRACTION is fetching! In this story, Maggie Hudson dog Kirby is lost. Six months later, she discovers that he was found by NHL player Spencer Corbett. She goes to his house unannounced to get her dog back, but it’s not that simple to bring him home. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.
ANIMAL ATTRACTION is a heartwarming story. I love Kirby’s relationship with Spencer’s dog. Maggie and Spencer are both likeable characters. They are both good compassionate people. They have wonderful chemistry. Fate plays an interesting role in their lives.
I enjoyed the plot. I am an animal lover; therefore, the dog aspect was appealing. I recently found a cat that I returned to its owner, so I could relate to the lost pet facet of the story. Mama Merilyn’s involvement in the book was fun.
Kate Willoughby did a great job with this novel. It is skillfully written and entertaining. There are relevant obstacles (like Taylor) that kept the novel engaging. I recommend ANIMAL ATTRACTION to pet lovers and/or people who enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
6 months ago, Maggie’s dog, Kirby, goes missing. Her friend Jade finds him, and Maggie goes to the door of hockey player Spencer to get him back. But Kirby is looking after Spencer’s elderly dog, Lulu, who has perked up since Spencer found Kirby by the side of the road and he doesn’t want Lulu to go yet. Sharing the dog for the short term seemed the best idea. But as they get closer, secrets threaten to drive them apart.
If you follow my reviews, you’ll know I have a particular dislike of the N word for a book, but sometimes, that bloody word gets stuck in my throat and I cannot shift it, no matter what.
So, this was a NICE book. A good nice, easy read, that wiled away a few hours this morning before work.
Maggie finds herself in deep quick with Spencer, and vice versa but Maggie can’t give Spencer what he wants and when his ex turns up with news, she walks away. Spencer doesn’t want the ex though, and he must find a way to get Maggie back.
It’s well written, with both Maggie and Spencer having a say in the third person. Both voices are clear, concise and consistent through the book, although Spencer I found a little jumpy in his narrative. He seemed to flit about a bit, not really paying much attention to Maggie, until she wasn’t there!
It’s not especially high on the heat level, or maybe I just read books with a MUCH higher level, but I didn’t mind it here. I do prefer my books high up that scale, in general, but I felt the level that this book gets to was hot enough for Maggie and Spencer. It IS sexy, though, don’t get me wrong! Just not super hot.
There isn’t any real drama, but there is a good deal of emotions involved, especially on Maggie’s part. Dealing what she did all those years ago must have been devastating and to not have told her best friend all of it? Too painful to think about.
I got what the ex was doing, very quickly! But again, Spencer couldn’t see that!
This is book 2 in the San Francisco Dragons series, and I have not read book one. I didn’t feel I was missing anything by not reading it, but from reading the blurb, the main character does pop up here, as a member of Spencer’s team. Some interesting characters on this team, too, and I would like to catch up with them all as they fall and fall hard.
First I’ve read by Ms Willoughby, I’d like to read more.
4 solid stars

I loved the first book in the series I knew I had to read this one. I loved characters in this one though I did want to slap Spencer in the head a few times. I loved Maggie. That girl has a heart of gold and she so deserves a HEA. Learning her past the ending of this one was so perfect. When I finished reading this one it left me with a smile on my face. This book definitely brings the feels. There are plenty of light hearted and fun moments, but there are also serous hit you in the heart moments. To me it’s a well balanced book with heat, heart, and humor. I look forward to more from this series!
A sports story isn’t my usual read, but I thought I’d give it a go ……
Maggie is a school teacher and avid hockey fan, she follows the San Francisco Dragons loyally, but her loyalty is tested when her best friend Jade tells her to watch an online interview. It shows Spencer Corbett holding HER BELOVED pug Kirby (the dog had disappeared a few months ago from her back garden) and Maggie thought she’d lost him forever, and when Spencer won’t return her calls, Maggie goes to his home to find her pug and bring Kirby home.
Spencer loves his ageing Labrador and after finding a pug by the roadside, it gave her a new lease of life, but now a fiery female stands at his door, demanding the return of HER dog!!!
After a little soul searching, Maggie gives in and says they can share the dog. And a mutual love of dogs bring them closer together. A romance soon blossoms, but it’s put to the test when an old girlfriend returns, and brings with her a young boy that looks a whole lot like Spencer.
There are plenty of laughs in this book. I don’t follow hockey, but the author put a lot of time and effort into this book, the research was very extensive.
A sweet story about two people coming to terms with life altering decisions of their youth, overcoming emotional and physical insecurities in the present, and getting past naivety and exes so they can build a solid HEA. Hockey players and teachers just go together. Well written, weekend sports romance.
