To me, he is nothing but a heartless prince.
His parents rule this town, its police, every citizen and boutique on Main Street.
All I own is a nice, juicy grudge against him for that time he almost killed me.
Between hooking up with a different girl every weekend, breaking hearts, noses and rules, Vaughn also finds the time to bully little ole’ me.
I fight back, tooth and nail, never expecting him to chase me across the ocean after we graduate high school.
But here he is, living with me in a dark, looming castle on the outskirts of London.
A fellow intern. A prodigal sculptor. A bloody genius.
They say this place is haunted, and it is.
Carlisle Castle hides two of our most awful secrets.
Vaughn thinks he can kill the ghosts of his past, but what he doesn’t know? It’s my heart he’s slaying.
Angry God is a stand-alone, DARK High School Romance. It deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering.

Wow!
This story was heart-stopping, emotional with so many deep secrets. The writing is superb, you follow each character through their individual experiences and understand the way that person is.
So many things can happen in our lives that cause changes in our personality, yet others around us may never understand until we communicate.
Vaughn and Lenora’s story is a powerful one. They both have their strengths laid out in this story. They both compliment each other perfectly.
Vicious and Emilia also pay little visits to this story…as Vaughn’s parents!!
I really don’t know how to write this review.
I guess I can start with the hype. For being shrouded in secrecy, this book has had more hype on my social media timelines than anything else I’ve experienced. Wild fan theories, quotes taken out of context, snippets and teases placed strategically to get the mind churning. Marketing at its finest, honestly. And for me, this was probably the biggest part of the letdown for me. I was expecting MORE and was served mundane.
It’s been lauded as being ‘dark, and emotional’ but ultimately, it did fall flat for me in both these aspects. It wasn’t dark. Were there some darker aspects than what we usually receive? Sure. But y’all. I read dark romance like it’s my dang job, and this was so gray on the scale it’s not even funny. And as for the emotional aspect, I really didn’t see it. I didn’t see the connect, the chemistry, the angst, none of it. I was served two brooding teenagers, with a penchant for weirder things in the bedroom than either of them should have known about, all things considered. That’s it. For me, this was a case of Chicken Little screaming the sky was falling when in reality, it was nothing of the sort.
I don’t understand why this author took characters that we were so pleased with at the beginning of the series and then made them so selfish and so blind to their children’s plights.
Were there some good parts? Yes. Absolutely. The writing style is phenomenal, despite the topics. Some things did make my little heart happy, without going into too much detail.
Ultimately, this is an art, subject to interpretation by each individual. This is mine. I wouldn’t recommend this. But I also wouldn’t not recommend this either. So I’m on the fence.
Vaughn and Lenora are perfect together. The angst, the back and forth between these two, the heartbreak of Vaughn’s story. The book just sucks you in and doesn’t let you go. I loved every minute of it!
WOW!!! What a read. A must read, but be prepared for an emotional roller coaster.
LJ Shen has always had the ability to write an amazing complex story. Her characters will evoke such emotions from the reader. Just when you think you know who the character is Shen exposes another layer that you never knew was there. She has a way of making you open your eyes to the “villain” of the story. Bringing to light the complexities in their personality and the baggage that makes them who they are. By the end you are deeply in love and willing to overlook a lot of their flaws just to be close to them.
Angry God is just another shining example of Shen’s amazing writing talent. Your heart aches for both Lenora and Vaughn.
Will these two childhood nemesis ever reveal to each other what they think the other knows? It’s amazing how every person sees a situation in completely different light depending on the angle they are at. How one moment can forever change an individuals life.
Angry God is a story that will grip you at the very depths of your heart and soul. I highly recommend this book. It will stay with you long after the last page has been turned.
My Thoughts:
I love LJ Shen’s writing. She develops the most deeply layered characters, and emotional reading experiences. I am a huge fan of the All Saints High Series. Vaughn’s story was deep, dark, and twisted. While he was a difficult character to like at first, we saw glimpses of the good in him throughout the story. We end up learning why Vaughn became so angry, and appeared unfeeling and coldhearted. The reason broke my heart. However, we end up with a spectacular happily ever after, and a story that I was glued to from beginning to end!
This book is definitely my fave story of the ALL SAINTS HIGH series. I never knew that the mighty Vaughn Spencer will do this to me, I didn’t even care about him in the previous installments, so it was surprisingly good to love this story.
The story hooks your interest right from the beginning, when Vaughn and Lenore met when they were kids. I was already intrigued what exactly happened back in the past. So I needed to know, when they shared high school it was like any other bully romance but the good stuff begins when they went away from high school, back where all their hate began, and that’s when this story become my favorite. Vaughn and Len show their true colors and we get to know why Vaughn is the way he is and we get to love him and care for him.
This story is not the typical bully romance, once they’re no longer in high school. It has depth and lots of emotions, there is a Spanish saying that goes something like this “Faces we see, hearts we do not know” it reminds me a lot to Vaughn. We have seen his face, the one he shows to everyone, the one he creates to the world, but his heart was different, and I love that the author can show his true side and I LOVE IT.
All the stars, all the feels, favorite LJ Shen read everrrrrr! I have been dying to read this book since way before release date and a crazy schedule kept me from it. Let me tell you Angry God was so worth the wait and more! Author L.J. Shen blew every expectation out of the water! It was absolutely incredible, and a one in a million kind of read! Absolutely nothing I can say will do this book and these characters justice. It’s raw and intense, and epically beautiful. Impeccable, poignant, and one of the best reads in 2020.
Everything I ever loved about Vicious completely transcended to Vaughn and then some. His character is so well built and so dynamic. He was layered – cruel and complicated, yet completely stole my heart. PS Vic is ah-mazing STILL + our girl Emilia. Lenny is absolutely perfect for Vaughn, and a powerful character all by herself.
I’m beyond sad that this series is over, but it’s some of the best from L.J. Shen! A must read, not to be missed! Enjoy, xo.

Out of the three books in this series, Angry God was my most anticipated book. intrigued me the most because he was so complex, so secretive so violent; he was simply an enigma.
Reading his book broke my heart, and here i thought i won’t cry like i cried in Broken Knight, but I guess I was wrong .

I loved his relationship with. , how she made him feel again it was one of the most beautiful things in the book. She was a strong character who didn’t cower and stood up to him. They were two broken souls who became a whole. They completed each other.

I have read several books in “Sinners of Saint” series, but this is my first book in All Saints High. I didn’t pick this book for a long time because I didn’t want to my imaginations for hotholes to be tarnished for any reason. But this book made me fall in love with Vicious more than ever.
It’s a second-generation book. I haven’t read Daria, Knight and Luna’s story yet. Vaughn Spencer is more than I ever expected. I obviously expected some Vicious elements, he is his father’s son after all. Vaughan is very similar to Vicious yet different. They face similar yet different kind of trouble.
Lenora stumbles upon Vaughn when they are young and learns his secrets (her own version from what she understands) by being in wrong place at wrong time. Vaughn bullies her and will be cruel to her but also follow her around like a lost puppy. he is scared he will let her secret out. Lenny would try to act cool and collected but still get bullied by Vaughn and the mean girls. Lenora is perfect for Vaughn, matched in every way. She pushes back, she is smart and she is artistically driven. Vaughn may be all sorts of screwed up, but Lenora doesn’t just take it lying down. She gives as good as she gets, and in some parts, even better. I loved that about her. There’s a lot of back and forth and their road is definitely not an easy one. But in the end, i embraced Vaughn’s thrust for revenge.
“If you want to look at your fiercest protector, at the one person you can always count on, take a good look in the mirror”
Angry God wouldn’t be complete without Vicious and Emilia. This book made me fall more for Vicious than previously. He just shines. I loved seeing him as a husband and father. It’s hard not to compare father and son but Vaughn didn’t make an impression on me as much as Vicious did. Also, Vicious gave some GOOD grovel, whereas Vaughn did not.
Story moves in a study pace. Intrigue and twists were little predictable for me. Knight was good, maybe I will get to know more about Harry at some point. Epilogue and final climax after action felt very similar to other books.
Overall, it’s a solid book. Read and judge it yourself.

YOU GUYS!!!! I AM SO FREAKING BUMMED! THIS WAS NOT HOW I WAS SUPPOSED TO REACT TO THIS BOOK!
When I knew Vaughn Spencer was getting his book I was over the moon! I mean, this is Vicious and Millie’s kid! It’s my main OPTs kid, of course, I was stoked to read this book!
I wish I could say that I loved this book but I can’t. The last 30% of the book was my favourite but the start and middle was something I couldn’t deal with, that’s my hangup, and Vaughn and Lenora weren’t someone that I warmed up to. I had so many hopes from this book, the characters and the story and it is so unfortunate that it just didn’t meet the expectations.
I couldn’t connect with either Lenora or Vaughn and that was one of my major issues.
Lenora and Vaughn evoked a sense of sympathy in me for them even though I couldn’t get over some of the things that Vaughn did. I can’t say I understood him or why he went about doing things the way he did in the first half of the book.
Vaughn is complex and I believe he is the first L.J. Shen character where I have no urge to dissect his psyche or what his thought process is. Imma be far away from that head, yo.
Despite my lack of connection and not loving the story the I had hoped to, there were a few parts that were my absolute favourite! Vaughn’s letter to Lenora… Gosh, this was the most unexpected thing in the world and I just couldn’t get over how beautifully penned down that was.
Vicious and Emilia’s point of view was so so so good! I especially loved Millie’s point of view and that was what broke me. I also LOVED seeing Vicious as a dad and I wish I could have had a little more of that.
One of the things that I loved about the All Saints Hight as a series is a glimpse into the parents’ point of view. Those chapters just added the extra oomph and gave us the much-needed insight into the situations through a parents’ perspective.
To see Vicious and Emilia, Jamie and Melody, Dean and Rosie and Trent and Edie be parents and watch their kids was something special for me.
If a bully romance if your thing, a romance that goes to the extremes then you are in the right place!
2.5 Stars!
This book. Gah! As always, Leigh Shen blows me away with her talent. Angry God is much darker than the other tothole books, which I LOVE. There are so many layers to the plot and complexities within the characters. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. HIGHLY recommend!
Excellent story of the second generation of guys attending Todos Santos’ All Saints High. Vicious’ son, Vaughn Spencer is a gifted artist who has his dad’s attitude. He meets his match with another extremely interrupts by artist, Lenore. These two butt heads on every level causing problems for them both.
Some parts of the book are almost humorous but others are tragic to the point of tears. The tragedies they suffer create obstacles to overcome to move forward in life.
LJ Shen fans are rejoicing as she brings them another D-A-R-K high school bully romance! Angsty slow burn between enemies!
I enjoyed Angry God. The darkness of topic and characters pulled me in. Especially Vaughn. He is a complicated character and I loved seeing all the steps that led to his walls crumbling and his vulnerability exposed. This aspect, for me, was really well done.
What I needed more of is relationship development. There was not enough time between these characters when they actually liked/loved each other. There was so much back and forth and time apart between them. Because of this, Angry God is not my favorite LJ Shen book. I love a dark read and this had everything I would normally enjoy. The downfall, for me, was that there was not enough build up of Vaughn and Len’s relationship amidst their darkness and the darkness that surrounds them.
A dark book with themes like these, for me, need to concentrate on character AND relationship development. In Angry God, the character development is there and it is phenomenal. I especially LOVED Vaughn’s fall from god to vulnerable human.
The relationship aspect between them, however, needed more development. There was little turn around from the hate-to-love dynamic and it made their relationship seem rushed and superficial.
The fact that I still enjoyed this read regardless of this, is thanks to this author’s writing style. It captivates and keeps you turning the pages.
Let me start off by saying I love LJ and her writing style. She can write in this space like no other. I have been waiting for Vaughn’s book for so long because hello he is daddy Vic’s son and I love Vic and Em so damn much. That being said, I liked AG, but found myself not connecting with the story as much as I wanted too. My heart broke for Vaughn and I loved Lenny, but strangely enough I wanted more from them, less from secondary characters.
Vaughn – Freaking –Spencer doesn’t give a f#%@.
THIS is not a drill. This is not a promise. THIS IS just a warning.
Angry God WILL COME.
Heartless Prince WILL SEE.
Vaughn Spencer WILL CONQUER YOU HEART.
YOU WILL SURRENDER… and YOU WILL do this without any doubts – mark my words Ladies and Gentlemen, there are no chances to win this war with Angry Vaughn.
