“Mother. Of. All. Angst. This book is not for the faint of heart. It is rip-your-hair-out frustrating and full of depth and emotion.” – Lana, DG Romance. From #1 Amazon Bestseller L.J. To me, he is nothing but a heartless prince.
His parents rule this town, its police, every citizen and boutique on Main Street.
All I own is a nice, juicy grudge against him for that time he almost killed me.
Between hooking up with a different girl every weekend, breaking hearts, noses and rules, Vaughn also finds the time to bully little ole’ me.
I fight back, tooth and nail, never expecting him to chase me across the ocean after we graduate high school.
But here he is, living with me in a dark, looming castle on the outskirts of London.
A fellow intern. A prodigal sculptor. A bloody genius.
They say this place is haunted, and it is.
Carlisle Castle hides two of our most awful secrets.
Vaughn thinks he can kill the ghosts of his past, but what he doesn’t know? It’s my heart he’s slaying.
Angry God is a stand-alone, DARK High School Romance. It deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering.

This explains so much! Hard not to love Vaughn as his story unfolds. Yeah, ok. I’m still irritated by his antics but I understand. And Lenora? She’s still a bit eccentric but do very good for Vaughn . She sees him and still cares. They both care despite the some very loud denials.
Family is everything and they pull through even when you want to start cussing them out.
Arabella? Never going to like her even after hearing her story. I know, I love Vaughn but not her. Totally can’t with her.
Pope?! Now there is a friend!
Harry?!
Their art?
Really love how this story unfolded and I am a forever Vaughn fan now. The ending? Love, love, Love.
I read this book thinking it couldn’t possibly live up to the hype — guess I should have had more faith. It’s fantastic, just like everybody says. I loved the art school setting, and of course I loved Vaughn Spencer.
I thought it was really well done how LJ Shen gave him a history, from childhood to present, to explain his psyche and some of his more extreme behaviors. Often a male character is closed-off or rebellious for no real reason. Having an actual impetus for his actions made Vaughn more believable and sympathetic.
Also, I’m just in love with Shen’s descriptions. There’s so much energy in her prose, it makes you feel every sensation from the taste of food to the rush of infatuation.
I probably should have read all the linked books in order, but Angry God worked just fine as a stand-alone.
LJ’s Sinners of Saint series hooked me with the first book that I read. The characters, with all their flaws, twisty ways, and devoted, HARD loving, roped me in and didn’t let go. I enjoyed this one that continued the series with the kids of the original characters.
This was the perfect ending for the All Saints High Series. While there’s plenty of heat in this book, the way it drove forward the character development was masterful. I’d highly recommend this book.
There’s tortured heroes and then there’s Vaughn Spencer. LJ Shen created a new level of torture with this novel.
While Broken Knight is still my favorite of three, I have to say this one is the most interesting. A complex story line combined with a confusing romance.
I didn’t know whether to hate or love Vaughn. He’s such an enigma. He’s doing something in the background of this novel and it’s not revealed until much later, giving the reader ample time to decide if they dislike him or not. He’s dark. His interactions with Len seem dark, when all along he’s such a sweet and loving guy.
Vaughn’s whole story is about revenge that Len is caught in the middle of. He has his own reasons for being around her, but he isn’t after her per se.
Complex but great story!
Well what can I say…Angry God is yet another exceptional story by the incredibly talented LJ Shen. I have been enthralled by every story of this second generation of our favorite anti-heroes and Vaughn’s story was no different. This story is darker and more emotional in some horrific ways.
Vaughn’s dark prince vibes gave me nostalgia for his father, Baron Spencer. Some of my favorite parts of this story were between Vaughn and Vic. Two stubborn, hardened, angry men who love each other unconditionally—it’s truly heartfelt and gut-wrenching at times. And it really was wonderful to hear from so many past favorites too! Those scenes added so much substance to the story-line in such different ways. My heart!
I have to say I think Lenora is the perfect counterpart for Vaughn. Dealing with a deep heartache of her own, she will not bow down to him, her misguided tortured bully. Their tension-filled chemistry and dialogue are where it’s at!
It’s bittersweet that these multi-generational stories are over. It has been an incredible, emotional and everlasting ride. Thank you for sharing your words with us LJ. 5+ beautifully angry stars for Angry God.
“But if we were silver, Vaughn Spencer was gold. If we were good, he was brilliant. And when we shone? He gleamed with a force of a thousand suns, charring everything around him.”
Generally, I LOVE books from this author, but this one was tough for me. I think the writing was fabulous, the story inventive, and the characters unique, but something just didn’t click for me.
The Story
Lenny & Vaughn begin a tumultuous relationship when Lenny sees something she shouldn’t have as a child. Vaughn basically threatens her and from then on they are at odds. It seems no matter where they go, Lenny draws Vaughn’s attention in a negative way. This continues for a while, and although I love a good bit of tension, I felt like this was too intense at times. At moments, I really felt deeply for what was happening to Lenny and wondered why exactly Vaughn (and others) would go to these lengths. (It’s not until later that I realized the depth of why these characters lashed out.)
Now, once Vaughn and Lenny give in to the attraction part, things got … weird for me. I wasn’t expecting such a darkness to enshroud this story. There is a lot between these two which wouldn’t be considered the “normal” in a romance, which is fine with me, except I couldn’t really get connected with where some of these actions came from & why each party was accepting of them.
Things go really crazy in the middle — secrets came out, lives were changed, and a lot of hurt was exposed. This hurt explains a lot of why such intense things were happening before, but still left me a bit unsure.
Feelings
All in all, I was kind of at odds with this story. While I know that was happened might lead to some of the actions and events, I was still struggling to really get connected to everything going on. I think it added into the series well, but I’m not sure about this one.
Wow. Such an awesome read. Definitely not what I was expecting.
I absolutely loved this book, great plot, well written, gorgeously broken characters, everything you would expect from a LJ Shen book, and more.
Just… wow. Leigh took me on quite a roller-coaster with Angry God. I felt sad, angry, disgusted, compassion, love, and hope.
Lenny’s and Vaughn’s lives are intertwined in ways they don’t even know, like an invisible rope linking then together. I loved seeing this unfold and how even pieces from early in the book can be seen in new light at the end.
Vaughn’s journey is so dark, twisted, and sad. There’s always a reason someone acts a particular way, and to see the heartbreaking origin is utterly unfathomable. I love that we got to see this play out with throwbacks to Vicious and Emilia.
This is easily my favorite of the series, with all the emotion it pulls out from me!
It’s hard to put into words my feelings with this story. There is so much here. Vaughn is well… so ridiculously handsome but there is pain and rage under those good looks. And who could blame him? Lenora becomes the focus of Vaughn’s torment and yet she is suffering her own kind of pain. But she doesn’t let Vaughn push her around. She strengthens herself to be able to go toe-to-toe with this god. The two of them are fragmented and yet are able to complete each other. However they are both stubborn and it takes time for them to realise this. There were a lot of times I wanted to punch Vaughn but, for all his cold and unfeeling interactions, he showed his affection for the ones he cares about in his own way. There was angst and pain, rage and love. I loved reading this story almost if not more than Pretty Reckless.
Dark and challenging
Angry god is a YA bully/ enemy to lover romance .
Vaughn and Lenny are bound by fate only their fear and hurts keep them apart .
They are both hardened and haunted by things in their past and ultimately take it out on each other . They revel in their hatred because love is something they both can’t fathom .
I really enjoyed reading their story . It was dark and dirty , gritty and true to the previous books in this series.
But there should be a trigger warning on this book with scenes and themes of child sexual abuse entwined and even graphic in one scene . So consider this your warning .
This book can be read as a stand alone but there are a few things that make more sense if you’ve read the previous books i think . So I would recommend you start right at the beginning ! They are great books and you won’t regret it 😉
Hmmm I think I’ll go with 4…4.25??
This book was twisted and a little darker than the other books by LJ but I guess compared to some other dark books I’ve read, not as dark. However definitely trigger worthy for people. I enjoyed reading Vaughn’s story and getting to see the real him but I think I had different expectations going into his story. I think I enjoyed the idea of how dark he was vs actually reading his mindset.
Oh and yes please, Daddy Vicious! Probably my favorite aspect. I must go back and reread Vicious now, for sure!
I enjoyed this book but I definitely felt more connected with a feeling of loss after reading Broken Knight vs finishing Angry God.
A story that has been on my mind from the start, Angry God was everything I was looking forward to and more. It was jam packed full of angst, glories sexual tension, a bully romance like no other that is perfect for the young and mature. If you know this authors work than this is a must read for you.
Angry God is a bully romance and the 3rd book from the All Saints High series. Buckle up for a roller-coaster ride of emotions and an indescribable experience of feelings. Angry, dark, mysterious are just a few of the feelings and I have continued to think about this book even after reading it a month ago. This whole series has left a memorable mark on my soul and I highly suggest reading them all!

“If is then is our ” – Safaereads
It’s been a couple hours since I finished Angry god. I have been waiting for this book for AG-ES, I stalked L.J, TJ and all our Sparrows (Thanks for handeling me) but right now I feel so lost… This book is a MASTERPIECE
This book was angsty, beautiful, passionate and ruined me in so many good ways.
and couldn’t be more like me, which probably sound weird but their characters combined felt like Leigh wrote about me and I think a lot of people will find themself in and .
How her character was portrayed as a strong EQUAL woman, I was here for it all! The way she felt about love, relationship and threw herself into art. That was so me! I throw myself in books and life but maybe one day if i meet my I will change my mind too (I mean who wouldn’t). Everyone who doubted “ ” you will completely understand why LJ choose as girl. We need a lot more strong women as her she owns me
When I was reading pov I had to hold up a couple minute because it felt so much like I was reading my own. He even said The SAME quote I say every single day, Leigh tell me did you hacked my phone But even then mind is something no one can ever understand, he himself even couldn’t expect …
No one and I mean no one is ready for “ ”, to find out why he is even angry, the between him and . No one is r e a d y
The chemistry between and is something we haven’t read yet. I don’t have a lot of words for it because I just don’t know how to their love.. Their story isn’t how hot their sex is or how they are being together, but when they simply look at each other you already feel their pain and love and it will consume you so bad. You will never forgive yourself if you don’t read This story. Again NO ONE IS R E A D Y
I’m not saying I screamed when I read Vicious, Emilia and **** name. But hell fúcking yes I did!! It felt again like the beginning of the series and I maybe even shed a tear with them..
LJ Shen has a gift not many authors have and I want to thank her a million times for , , for our sassy sparrows who can always be themself I know this is the end for now.. and everyone feels sad but we will never say fully goodbye to our Hotholes right? They will always have a place in our hearts (And Thank fuck we can reread). Leigh THANK YOU, THANK YOU! For now Goodbye Hotholes & Totholes …

Totally engrossing, I could not put it down! It does make me want to go back and reread his parents story too. Definitely 5 stars.
Wow what an intense story! I’ve been wanting to read about Vaughn. I knew it was going to be a darker and twisted read and L.J. Shen didn’t disappoint! Prepare yourself for an emotional and powerful read.
WOW! The stories in The All Saints High Series just keep getting more and more amazing and this is hands down my fave LJ Shen book so far. Now I definitely plan to go back and read his parents’ story, Vicious, which I had originally passed on reading, believing it was way too angsty for me after reading the sample chapters. However, after reading several of her other stories, I now understand the rollercoaster ride she takes us on will always lead to a beautifully satisfying and happy ending. This is a standalone story and you don’t need to have read his parents’ story or the previous stories in the series, but I highly recommend you at least read the 2 previous books in The All Saints High Series as they are also amazing stories but you will be intrigued by the glimpses of Vaughn and Lenny that you get to see in those books, which LJ Shen has cleverly done to build us up to Angry God. I can’t wait to see what LJ Shen comes up with next. She is now a 1-click author for me.
Only LJ can write in such a way that the ugly and tragic things in the world sound beautiful. She can make you feel anger, love, loss, and hate along with her characters. While Lenora was a great heroine in this story, I connected with Vaughn most. His apathy toward others…self hate and conflicted views. I can’t do this book justice with my words. This is a book that needs to be read and felt by others. Enough said.
“I am hell bound, and you are heaven sent. You’re the first girl I ever looked at and thought…I want to kiss her. I want to own her.”
Holy wow.
So, I had no doubt this book was going to be good, same as all of L.J.’s books, but it was so much more than just good. I might even go as far saying it’s the best book in the series.
Both Vaughn and Len are fucked up, but in the best way possible. That’s what makes them so real and gives them depth, causing me to have all the angsty feels and become so emotionally vested in the story.
Never ever skip a book from L.J. She is the queen of tortured souls and you’ll finish each and every book with a deep sigh and a serious book hangover.
5 stars and a crown of thorns.
