No one does badass characters like Ms. Shen. And no one does smartass jive talk like Ms. Shen.
If you can handle the uber-tough language mostly from the young guys in her stories – particularly the dreadful, misogynistic C-word – then you in for a treat because she tells a good story that you will feel in very deep places, especially if you are an experienced, older woman who remembers the angst and hormone-ridden days of high school, college and the promises beyond.
Absolutley love sinners of saint
Drama? Check. Romance? Check. Steamy romance? Check. Emotional? Check.
It checked all the boxes but I still found myself not loving this story, like I did with Luna and Knight (Broken Knight – previous book).
Full review to come.
So I had mixed feelings while reading Angry God. There were times that I wanted to smack Vaughn and give Lenny some more strength to deal with Vaughn and his stupidities. Then there were times that I wanted to hug both Vaughn and Lenny. There were also all the emotions from L.J. Shen. I definitely recommend reading and listening it. Most definitely worth 5*****

I little too dark and disturbing for me. Plus the dude didn’t really have any redeeming qualities and just seemed like a prick.
This book completely blew me away. It was so much more than I ever expected, in a great way. The detail she puts in her stories is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I can close my eyes and picture every word that’s said, so vividly. This story is a bit more intense than her others which I loved. I devoured this book from the moment I turned the first page.
The thought she puts into her characters and the story behind them is what truly makes her books. I love that she incorporates characters from other stories as well (Troy Brennan aka the fixer).
This book specifically meant so much to me because of what Vaughn has gone through. I think so many of us relate and can feel exactly how he’s feeling, unfortunately. But it can also make us feel not so alone to hear someone else has experienced it as well.
I have read angry god multiple times including this very minute and each time I fall more in love with her writing and this book.
I think I ugly cried towards the end of the book, I wasn’t expecting that twist at all! I had to read it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down!
This book was EVERYTHING! Angry God is the last book in the All Saints High series and is a lot darker than the first two, but it worked so well for these characters. Vaughn and Lenora’s story was captivating! The personal demons they each struggled with and the way they were together – the push/pull of it all – was just… AAHHHH!! Love all 3 books of this series! Incredible, intricate stories that are well thought out and so believable!
spoiler alert
OMG this book was so good ! i loved it from start to finish and i wished it was longer !
I love Vaughn ,he is such an interesting character and i was so sad to learn his backstory but i loved that he was finally able to put his past behind him and find something real and someone who is able to love him for him ! i loved all the little banter moments he had with Lenora ,i love the twisted relationship they have .it’s kinda messy and totally real !
Omg Lenora is awesome,i loved her the moment she stepped onto the page ! i love all the crazy stuff her and Vaughn do to each other ,they are fighting their feeling because ,they were made for each other, fate is a fickle bitch but she worked magic on Vaughn and Lenora 🙂 all the things they end up being to each ,it was great to read their story and i loved their ending 🙂
I loved seeing Vicious protect Vaughn , it was so heartbreaking when he finds out what happend to Vaughn when he was a kid but he was able to give a little bit of peace when he finishes what Vaughn started !
I loved this book ,i love this whole series and i am such a fan of L.J. Shen’s writing !
Vaughn is so much like his dad, it’s was like déjà vu. Truthfully, I prefer the sweeter heroes, like Knight. To me, Vaughn took things a bit too far. I was able to understand him better once I learned more about his past. The problem was that we knew the whole time that he had a secret, but didn’t learn what it was until close to the end. The whole time I had to wonder what had happened in that dark room. I respected Lenora for keeping his secret. I expected her to be a stronger character in order to be able to handle Vaughn. Unfortunately, I found her to be a pushover who worked much too hard to please everyone. Even when they were hurting her. Despite not falling for the couple, I still enjoyed their crazy journey. The character I did love was Rafferty Pope. Can we talk about how good of a friend he was? Because he went above and beyond for Lenny. I will have to keep an eye out for more about him. Because there is definitely a story there.
I knew things were going to be different for these
two. They both had that type of personality and
their chemistry was undeniable. The guys/hotholes in
all her books/series are a bit or somewhat damaged, big-time
a**holes, but always redeemable and with big hearts.
This was definitely intense, and put me through a rollercoaster
ride, but it was so worth it
My number one favorite book by LJ Shen to date. I’ve reread it several times.
Like father like son.
Gah I am speechless. Vaughn was EVERYTHING!
This book was everything I never knew I needed and more.
Vaughn and his broken words, his darkness, the blackness of his soul. It captivated me and broke me all at the same time.
Shen delivers yet another mind blowing ride that will twist your heart and break your soul. All while slowly making you fall in love with the darkned alpha hero.
This epic punch of darkness and pain holds you until the very end.
Battles, heartache and secrets all unfold throughout making you swoon, smile and feel like your heart is being ripped out.
The pain at the end got me. I felt Vaughn’s sorrow, I felt his pain. I wanted to hold him and take it all away.
I loved Leorna and Vaughn together they had this angsty, wild driven chemistry that was mind blowing.
I didn’t want this to end I wanted more of Vaughn.
This tragic, haunted angry god will always be just like his dad for me.
My number #1 Shen men.
Vaughn will tear your heart out, break your soul and drain your eyes with everything he has all while swooping in to carry you away on a cloud of emotions that will break your very core.
There are certain subjects that are hard to write or even read for that matter. LJ Shen always handles them with an amazing grace. This was an incredible book to end The Saints Series. Vaughn and Lenora are both broken in their own ways. Vaughn torments Lenny because she witnessed an event that would put in motion a plan of complete destruction on Vaughn’s part. They have been apart for years when Lenny joins her father and sister in Cali for her Senior year. Vaughn does everything imaginable to make her suffer and because of his actions and those surrounding him Lenny becomes a true force. Ending up back in England as Vaughn’s assistant was not part of her plan. But, Vaughn is holding all the player and pieces. As they spend more time together the thin line between hate and love is blurred. Vaughn’s secret comes to light to those who love him most. Bringing Vicious and Emilia to their knees with parental regret. LJ gives them each a chapter which is so amazing. Lenny brings Vaughn to life and he makes her strong. Their love and acceptance of eachother is beautiful. This story is not for the faint of heart. It will year your heart out. But, it is also about survival and what true love can do to heal a wounded soul.
Vaughn’s letter to Lenny:
You are that girl. My safe place. My asymmetric happiness. My Edgar Allan Poe poem. You are my Smiths, and my favorite fantasy book, my brownie, and summer vacations in lush places. There will never be anyone else like you. And that’s exactly why you deserve someone better than me.
I finished reading Angry God this morning and am honestly still trying to process it. I felt like it was of a totally different vein than the previous two but true to Vaughn I should have known his book would be. This one really upped the ante of dark intense romance. Vaughn and Lenny were such complex characters to begin with but LJ Shen really nailed the evolution of their relationship. She will absolutely shatter your heart with all the emotions but then put it back together even better than you could have imagined. I cannot believe this series is over I still want more!!!! Both series were EVERYTHING I was hoping they would be and beyond. I will forever be obsessed with all the hotholes and totholes and can already see myself rereading these in the future.
4.5 stars
Trigger Warning: Sexual assault and abuse
If Broken Knight was the most emotional read, then this book is the darkest of them all. And I was here for it!!!! I have been the most excited to read Vaughn and Lenora’s love story and while I did have a tiny bit of issue, the story was beautiful and well-crafted.
My only complaint was that I felt there wasn’t enough development of the hate-to-love relationship and I felt that the story dragged on a bit especially with the mystery part that although I was curious, I wasn’t on the edge of my seat like I was with the other books and I feel bummed out about it.
The romance between Vaughn x Lenora is just beautiful but at the same time they are my least favorite and the reason for that is I didn’t feel the romance development as deep and the past two books but at the same time, there were moments where I liked where their relationship was going and it honestly payed off in the end. Both of them have been through so much and they deserve the entire world and each other because THEY NEED HAPPINESS IN THEIR LIFE!!!!!!!
I love the different setting that takes place in the Sinner’s world. It’s usually either in New York and mostly in Todos Santos. But in this book, while the first half was in Todos Santos, the majority of the book takes place in London in Carlisle Castle. It was gothic and lush with beautiful scenery and dark twisted secrets.
I love the description of art that both Vaughn and Lenora were working on (they are both artists). The way it was written was visually pleasing like you were in a exhibition.
I love the father and son relationship between Vicious and Vaughn and I just needed more of them. I understand the hype of daddy Vicious and I AM GLAD I AM IN THE FANDOM!!!!!!! What I also loved more about them is their deep love to Emilia, who is a great mother and wife to both of them and who is a big part of their world.
I also was on fangirl mode when I read the Troy cameo!!!!! If you don’t know who he is, Troy is a main character in Sparrow and reading him in AG was such a delight. I loved (and my heart bursted with happiness) how he is like a protective shadow to Vaughn (I can’t say anymore than that).
I was hoping to get more Poppy in this book but unfortunately that wasn’t the case, but I still see her as an interesting character to explore and I do really hope that Leigh also writes her book because she deserves to shine in her own story!!!!
And I cannot finish up this review without talking about Pope!!!! He is the DEFINITION of a best friend!!!! Chapter 19 was just pure GOLD and if you’ve read the book, then you know what I mean. I love him so much and I hope that one day, Leigh will write his story!!!!
All in all, I’m so happy that I finished with the series and am so excited to jump right into The Hunter!!!!!
Wow, what a story! Ever since Broken Knight I was so interested in hearing about Vaughn’s story and what was behind this mysterious character. This story went in a direction that I was not expecting, but Shen did not disappoint!
This DARK enemies to lovers romance left such an impression on me that I will never forget Vaughn and Lenora’s story (it’s been a few weeks since I’ve read it and I still think about it). Vaughn is such a unique and complex character and his story broke my heart. Everything about it. Piece by piece it was put back together the closer him and Lenora became. The history these two shared was entwined together so perfectly and the evolution of their relationship was amazing. Lenora is exactly what Vaughn needs. The perfect match to his dark and broken. They have many similarities and their relationship was everything I hoped it would be. Vaughn’s vulnerability and the unexpected way he opened up to Lenora made me love his character even more.
I also love how all three books in this series bring in some of the parents that were in Sinners of Saint in for a couple of chapters that are from their points of view. It was only a small glimpse, but it added something extra to these books that I loved.
This book was EVERYTHING!!! Vaughn and Lenora’s story was full of drama, laughs, surprises, revenge, hate, love and so much more. There was never a dull moment in this story and if you haven’t figured it out by now, I LOVED IT!! Not only did I love the back and forth banter between Lenora and Vaughn, but I absolutely loved the parts with Vaughn, his dad and his mom. When it comes to them actions speak louder than words and sometimes words are not needed, a look says it all. Vaughn definitely had my heart. I loved that Lenora was no push-over either. When everything was finally revealed regarding Vaughn, his parents did not disappoint. There’s no limit to what Vicious would do when it comes to his family and he proved it again. The ending was sweet but it definitely left me wanting more. I wanted that moment with Vaughn and his entire family. However, this book did not disappoint and I’ll be recommending it to family and friends.
I’ll start by stating that this book deals with the sensitive subject some may find triggering but for me, it was just a sad and devastating fact that explains why Vaughn is so very different from other heroes in this series. But I wouldn’t categorize this book as dark read. For me, it was just a great book filled with a lot of angst and little heavy, with a theme of enemies-to-lovers.
The beginning of this book was a bit shaky for me. I had a hard time connecting with Vaughn and Lenora. But at 30% the action became more and more interesting and heroes more intriguing. And at the end, L. J. Shen just stole my heart by giving me an unbelievably beautiful ending. This perfect culmination contains a beautiful bond between father and son. It was even more beautiful because this bond was between Vicious and Vaughn, the most beautiful fuck-up jerk hero that I will never forget. And of course to read about how love overcomes life-consuming hatred was just icing on the cake. I love it.
With heavy hands, I finally start my review of the final book closing out the All Saints High series. Of course, LJ saved Emilia and Daddy Vicious’ son’s story for last. Vaughn’s story had more angst than his parent’s story…definitely one that will not be forgotten. Vaughn – the beautiful and vengeful angry god of All Saints High with his kryptonite being the beautiful and quirky English rose known as Lenora. This enemies to lovers soulmate tale will have you reeling once all the truths are revealed. I was pulled in by LJ’s signature style of writing fantastically perfect this story of boy that was broken just like his father and still just like his father, it took the perfect woman to completely heal him.
