WOW Incredible Read! *****
I have to say this is one of the most hauntingly emotionally charged story I’ve read to date. The gut wrenching rawness and beauty took all of my emotions. I felt this story from beginning to end. Beautiful story telling
Oh Vaughn so dark and mean what makes you tick?
I really loved Lenny and honestly this book made me like Poppy because let’s face it we all hated her in BK. This book was really good there was a few things I didn’t like but isn’t that all books?
Lenny was a strong character I loved how she didn’t give up or let those horrible girls break her. I mean we all hate Arabella. Lenny put her art first she didn’t change her ideas or give up she put her heart and soul into it. I loved her even when she was broken.
Vaughan we all wanted his story. Why is he so mean why does every one want him? He’s a challenge. This was one of those books I didn’t want to put down or end. I wanted the story to be longer I think a lot was missed. I loved it but I wish some of this big things were addressed.
Lj Shen is an absolute genius. This world of both the HotHoles and TotHoles is EVERYTHING! From the very first book to this one you get hooked!
Vaughn oh my oh my. He is beautifully broken and he is everything. The way he’s always loved Lenny is just awe. Like it leaves your heart wide open to want more of him. To know very deep and dark part of his mind. To know him is to know and understand his pain. It’s heartbreaking but Lenny sows him back together every single time!
Lenny. Oh Good Girl. You beautiful dark soul. Life has given her a crappy hand and seeing and feeling her go through it. Is just amazing. You can feel every inch of her heartbreaks and every ounce of her love and hatred. She is beautiful. Her and Vaughn are just all consuming.
Sad to see this world go. Leigh has sucked me in and I never want to let any of these babies go. NONE OF THEM!
OMG! There are no words to describe how much I LOVED this book! An incredibly beautiful and complex story! Lennie andVaughn will stay in my heart forever! Highly, highly recommend this epic love story!
What a beautiful way to wrap up the series! Vaughn had big shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of a father like Vicious. He did not disappoint. A broken boy he needed a love that would pull him out of his darkness and help him rediscover the beauty in-line and become a man.
Leigh has a way of tackling delicate subjects with grace and Angry God was no different.
Vaughn and Lenora’s story was a slow burn that led to an inferno burning away the pain of their shared history leaving only love.
Bonus Baron Vicious Spencer and Emilia LeBlanc Spencer as parents are everything!
Angry God will stick with me for a long time to come
I love it when you start one of your most anticipated books for the year and it is exactly how you were hoping it would be.
Vaughn was always such an enigma in the other 2 books and with a father like vicious you new he was going to be such an individual character but my surprise was the heroine she was nothing like i expected her to be.
This story was darkish and not really what i expected it the way to go and it was so different to the other books in this spin off series but that’s what i loved it was more than i expected. I really loved both Vaughn and lenora the way they played each other and Lenora standing up to Vaughn and Vaughn being his broody self loved but by the end you will understand the reason why he is the way he is.
With characters like uncle Harry and Arabella and knowing something was going on hit it was all secrets that had you turning the pages. This book had it all bullies to lovers, bullying, dark secrets and the other characters from the fathers from the first series to the kids that were in the spinoff series it was epic.
I don’t like to give to much away as i don’t really like spoilers so i like to be vague but if you love all of L.J shens books then you will not be disappointed at all
Wow!! I have to be honest, it took me awhile to get into this book. That is not normally the case with L.J. Shen books and I was a little worried…but that didn’t last long! I felt so many emotions with this book. It was hard to read some of it but it also explained so much! The push and pull of Vaughn and Lenora was breathtaking. I gasped and cried my way through this book!
Vaughn was an angry and largely misunderstood “god”. He created a world that was a facade, if you looked real close, you could see all the cracks. He just needed to hold on to get to his end goal; which might just end him.
Lenora was in the direct path of Vaughn’s wrath. He was hot one minute and brutally cold the next. Could Lenora be his savior or would he take her down with him?
The intensity of this story was unreal. I was on edge the entire time. I can’t even imagine what was going through Vaughn’s head! Angry God was a painfully beautiful story of facing your demons before they consume you.
5 STARS is not nearly enough for this book !
This amazing read is out of the solar system & beyond the Milky Way This book is SO incredibly GOOD !!
Angry God is set in the art world & like a paint stroke across a blank canvas or clay / granite or stone molded into a sculpture – this book I feel is a masterpiece based on “mere words” alone ..
Hell / Heaven
Darkness / Light
Sadness / Joy
Death / Life
Ugliness/ Beauty
Broken / Whole
Bitterness / Sweetness
Hate / Love
Revenge / Justice
Hurt / Heal
Lost / Found
These are my words but they only scratch the surface of the sentences / pages & chapters of Angry God as crafted by LJ Shen. I laughed – I cried but above all Vaughn & Lenora’s story touched my heart – breaking it apart only to be put back together by the perfection that is true love.
I highly recommend this book & anything this author has written !
Angry God is outstanding!!!
This story was freakin fantastic, in a dark, sadistic and utterly disturbing way!
Boy, can LJ Shen write. Her stories are always entertaining but her words make her stories utterly breathtaking. Nothing seems to phase her, be it a difficult or daunting storyline or just A-holes, as is the case with the Spencer men.
It seems a while now since we endured the pleasures that Vicious bestowed upon us but he certainly created a new monster in his son, Vaughn. Right from the outset, Vaughn is cold, calculating and downright malicious towards his nemesis, Lenora Astalis.
Despite growing up together and being jointly moulded towards their destinies, they are worlds apart when it comes towards relationships. As children, Vaughn bullied Lenora, as adolescents, Lenora turned the table and started biting back. By the time they are at college together the gloves are off and what was once idle resentment towards each other explodes into something far more sinister.
The magic to this story is the secret that is revealed as you read on. Vaughn is has become the man he has for a reason and, for once, that reason is not his father. Despite her love/hate relationship with the idea of Vaughn, Lenora starts to unpeel his many, damaged layers and eventually manages to find the human being that she longed for beneath his abusive demeanour.
The story was dark but it was also sublime. Both characters were 100% endearing despite their cold and calculated ways. The essence of the story was heartbreaking but also rewarding. When you combine these many fascets you have a story that will reward you for your perseverance in a way that no other could.
Via Audible, this story was brought to life in such a way that made the story even more amazing. The narrators did a fantastic job and must be commended for the part they played in making what is a truly exceptional book.
Angry God is the third book in LJ Shen’s All Saints High Series…. and what a Story it is.
Vaughn Spencer is known for his indifference and moody personality, his anger and defiance. The last thing anyone wants to do is cross him. On his quest for revenge he’ll risk the one thing that’s always called to him.
Lenora is up rooted to America and is force to deal with the privilege jerks of All Saints High senior class and their Angry God. When Lenora finally makes her way back to England she realizes nothing is really as it seems.
This story was seriously dark at times and has a lot of triggers for some. There’s bullying and abuse. That being said I honestly feel like I just took the widest ride with this story and was overjoyed with the ending…
Another 5 star read from LJ Shen
Angry God by L.J. Shen
“I am hell bound, and you are heaven sent. You’re the first girl I ever looked at and thought… I want to kiss her. I want to own her. I wanted you to look at me the way you look at your fantasy book-with a. Mixture of awe, anticipation and warmth.”
“She made ugly things beautiful, and I was going to show her my soul was marred beyond repair.”
This is an unbelievable story of anger, revenge, hate, lust and ultimately…..love. Such powerful and raw emotion shown through these characters. Vaughn and Lenora walk that fine line between hate and desire. He wants her….but he hates her. She wants him….but she cannot let herself love anyone, let alone the manipulative and vengeful Vaughn spencer.
Vaughn Spencer is an angry, talented young artist. He is a sculptor, and a damn good one. Getting the best art education, by the best artists, and in the best school in Europe. He was manipulative, yes…..but also….damaged. You find out early on that he’s carrying this deep, dark secret. A secret that lurks in the shadows of his life, and that he wants to stay there. In comes Lenora. A beautiful, smart artist herself. Daughter of the school’s headmaster and just genuinely happy. Their worlds collide over and over, darker and darker. Almost as if they were always meant to. Vaughn doesn’t want Lenora knowing his secret and will do whatever it takes to make sure she doesnt let it out. The supporting characters in this story play an equally important role as Vaughn and Lenora. Vicious and Emilia are back and they are as fierce as ever. The entire book as a whole was written so perfectly. I needed everything in this story. I needed to know everyone. I just felt…..everything.
You read this story and feel the pain of the characters as if you were right there. Witnessing their life unfolding in front of your very eyes. It’s a beautiful wreck you just cannot pry your eyes from. I found myself siding with Lenora, just to feel sympathy for Vaughn in the very next chapter. You know they are meant to be and just want to scream at them to figure their shit out! I loved it. I was hooked on the very first page. L.J. Shen never lets me down!
10 Good Girl stars
Sometimes I read a book and immediately after, I am able to leave a review explaining what I thought of the book, the sensations I had at the moment of reading it, what I liked and what I didn’t like. Well, with Angry God I wasn’t capable of that. Since it release I have reread this book at least 5 times and have not been able to read anything else. THAT is the power of Vaughn Spencer.
This book reached my soul in a very special way, not only because it means the end of a series I have been reading for almost 3 years, but mainly because of Vaughn’s story.
We know Vaughn since Ruckus; we “saw” him in Millie’s belly, trying to set fire to Dean’s fountain, being friends with Luna, Knight and Daria, helping everybody solve their love problems and finally we had the chance to get inside his mind and understand why he is the way he is. And omg, the reason he has to be the way he is.
I think everyone was expecting some kind of dark, evil man, eager to kill or something. But if you really read the books that came before and paid attention, you’d know that Vaughn wouldn’t be any of those things. There is TOO much compassion in his being, there is too much love and affection (even if it is hidden) to simply be evil for the sake of it. Vaughn is a boy trapped in the body of a man. A scared little boy, who’s capable of anything to protect his family. And that’s what we get. A boy capable of anything to get his revenge, but always trying to take care of his family.
But this story isn’t just about Vaughn, and here comes one of my favorite Shen heroines: Lenora. OMG WHAT A SURPRISE WITH THIS GIRL! From what little we knew about her thanks to Broken Knight, I expected someone different but what we got was a thousand times better. I don’t think there’s a better partner for Vaughn than Lenora. And their love was really written in the stars. Their relationship is a bit complicated, full of comings and goings, moments that you want to kill them and others that you want to kiss them, hug them and live happily ever after with them. Their love was powerful and I could not be happier to have read it, to have lived with them all their moments, the good, the bad, the beautiful, ALL!
And please, let’s not forget about the Spencers. They ARE the best family in the world and I literally don’t care what the rest of the world says. Emilia and Vicious as parents were everything I could hope for and more.
And right now I’m feeling a little sad about having to say goodbye to Todos Santos. And I’m shedding some tears because I’m alone writing this and I can do it hahaha. I’m not sure if another series is going to achieve the same emotions and the same feeling of belonging that this one did. Ever since I read Defy I felt connected to all the characters and having to write this feels a little bit bittersweet. But, the good thing about books is that you can reread them whenever you want (something I plan to do with these guys). And also, I’ll be waiting for more stories from them, whether they be bonuses, novellas, another book with the characters left in the inkwell (Bailey, Lev, Racer, Tempest, etc.).
I know this review is a little tangled, but it’s the best I can do right now (and probably ever). And if someone is reading this and doesn’t know whether to read this series or not, my recommendation is that you should! Read these books, fall in love with them all and enjoy them.
5 Sculpted to Perfection Crowns
Have you ever been afraid to read a book? Not because of the content, but because the author has created something so addictively magical that you aren’t ready for it to end. And reading said story will complete a time in your life where you were able to immerse yourself inside their creation and read it for the first time. This is that book for me! I wasn’t ready to leave Todo Santos but alas I did, I started this journey with Vicious, I know a little out of order and it seems fitting that it ends with Vaughn.
“That’s when I realized I might be a good girl, but Vaughn had underestimated himself three years ago. He wasn’t a boy at all. He was a deity.”
I am a firm believer that this book needs to be gone into completely blind. Vaughn’s story is not an easy one he was always special, and this book proves why. I have never anticipated a story to the extent that I have this one and I was completely blown away by the flawless execution and delicacy with which LJ handled his book. Interlacing his story-line with her uniquely LJ sense of humor that lightens up the darkest of situations and puts a smile on your face, brings this story to the next level for me.
“Throwing random names in the air is not conversation, Knighty-boy. Let’s start with an entire sentence. Repeat after me. I. Need. Rehab. And. A. Good. Fuck.”
Leonora’s character was unlike any heroine that I’ve seen. She had this fire inside her that burned bright and fierce. Her flames and talent danced with Vaughn’s with such intricacy and emotion you could feel it burn from the pages and light your soul on fire. You think Vaughn is ice, but he is anything but, Vaughn is fire feeling everything and burning from the inside. These two couldn’t have been more perfect together and watching as they evolved into what they ultimately became was like watching two shooting stars collide and become one; singularly unique but together something more beautiful and charged with another level of intensity.
“Finally. My blood warmed at the sight of her face draining of color. Watching her react to me was like feeling the first rays of sun after a long winter.”
LJ continues to grow and expand as an author, with every new story that she creates being better than the last. She has this unique way with words, drowning you in them as if they are poison soaking into your blood and becoming forever a part of you, ultimately seeping into what is your very essence. Every time I pick up one of her books, I’m immediately carried into that story utterly and completely. Nothing else matters but finishing that book and finding out what happens, that story becomes your nourishment until you are done.
“Leonora.” His voice held a threatening edge, cruel and cutting, like broken glass. I knew a warning when I heard one.”
Vaughn’s story tore me to shreds, each page was a slice to my very soul until I was left completely ruined by this book. Then slowly and with delicacy that only LJ possesses she put’s you back together mending you with parts of this story permanently embedded. I could not have asked for a more perfect ending to my time here in Todos Santos, these character’s will forever be a part of me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Every time I read one of Leigh’s books I’m absolutely destroyed by the end!! This one was no different!!! How does she do it?! Really?!?! Someone tell me!! I want to be all next level like this! So Angry God!! There’s nothing I can say but to read this damn book!!! ITS A MUST READ!!! Warning though you may feel a bit stabby at some parts! You’re gonna want to F bishes up!!! Like for reals!
“There is so much beauty in the darkness. It’s just harder to find.”
When a book has so much hype surrounding it you can’t help but wonder if it will be all you’re expecting. Well let me tell you Angry God met and surpassed all my expectations.
This book made me angry, mad and so sad but then the chaos comes together in a beautiful explosion and all that anger turns into a feeling of love and contentment. Lenny and Vaughn will capture your heart and soul and have you rooting for them through every obstacle they face even when it’s each other.
Overall Rating – +
Where does one start with this review? I finished this book a few days ago and I still can’t get my words together. So here goes;
Shen takes us on this final journey in the SOS world and doesn’t hold back on the greatness that is Vaughn’s story. What I love most about this book (and Broken Knight) is that she did not hold back a wrote a story that was so real, hard-hitting and although she knew she would gut her readers, she took the chance and wrote from her heart and ultimately gave us something beautifully perfect.
Angry God is the story of Lenora and Vaughn. It’s an enemy to lovers story with our MC’s hatred/revenge spanning over a decade. I won’t talk too much about the story as I think you should just dive in.
Vaughn. This boy is moody, has an attitude only those with true power have and that oozes out of him. This is his everyday character to those around him but the character that we get to see as the book goes on is one that you will fall in love with. He’s deep, caring, thoughtful and although you won’t swoon after him, he will pierce your heart with his carved sword, never letting you heal.
When you first start to read from Vaughan’s POV, his words are vindictive, chilling and calculated, but I absolutely loved him. He’s cold, doesn’t give a damn, but he’s funny, so funny, especially with his need to be near/stalk Lenora. He especially broke my heart with his love for Lenora, it was so real and so pure nothing would ever get in his way. I loved all his inner thoughts, berating himself for acting like a pussy and hating himself with every apology he had to make to Lenora, he was Vaughn Spencer after all.
Lenora. She was definitely the girl for him. I loved her sass, the attitude and her confidence and how she pushes back. She ain’t taking no shit from anyone! Lenora has that special power, she has Vaughn where she wants him and he doesn’t even know it. That scene with Vaughn handcuffed to the bed had me high fiving her for her revenge and I had to shut my eyes trying to decide if she would go through with it or not.
We also get appearances from characters we love; Knight – funny as ever, Vicious – protector of Vaughn and has the wit to match his son! Emelia – true mother with the love she gives him. It was also endearing the way he loved her, definite mummy’s boy.
This book came full circle and I loved their HEA, and like most fans of this series, I’m definitely not ready to say goodbye to them. I need more. I will forever be a fan of Shen’s words. There is just something so real and endearing in her words and the overall tone and I can’t wait to see what she gives us next!

Angry God is the last book in the All Saints High series, the conclusion tells the of Vaughn and Lenora. LJ doesn’t do trigger warnings but I do, definitely trigger warning for sexual abuse and suicide. — Vaughn Spencer, from the second I knew he was Vicious’ son I knew he was the TotHole for me. He’s dark but dreamy, stoic but vulnerable, and cold but lovable. I absolutely loved him and all of his complexities. –
Lenora, the minute she was introduced in Broken Knight I just needed more of her. She is so fierce and unapologetically herself. One of the most authentic characters from the Todos Santos world. For all you people who were Team Poppy, take a seat. Lenny is the damn queen. –
I loved their story, their connection was so raw yet delicate and passionate. Yet LJ reminds us of the confusion of young love through their journey. Vicious is my absolute favorite so I devour any extra time with him that I can, I’m always left wanting more of him. Daddy Vicious is so sexy and perfect. Vaughn and Lenora’s passion for art and creating was beautiful, absolute perfection spread across 384 pages. –
L.J. Shen has done it again and made me like Vaughn when I thought I wasn’t going to. This book had it all and kept me up late reading every last page.
I didn’t know when I stared Angry God I was going to be as frustrated as I was with the characters. The more I got to know Vaughn and his layers were pulled back I started to understand him more. He is hot and talented and the girls want him but he only seems to have for Lenora. She doesn’t back down from Vaughn and has no problem putting him in his place. These two extremely talented artists are the perfect balance for each other.
This book took me on a ride full of angst that broke my heart at times. It is dark and so worth the read. Angry God is a must read!
Vaughn barely has any emotions but hate. Lenora has no time for anything but her art. She knows Vaughn’s secret. He makes her life miserable but can’t stop having feelings for her. She sees beyond the anger and hate. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended.
To sum up my emotions all I can say is SHOCK & AWE! Im in total disbelief that this is the end! I feel like my heart will never leave todos santos! It will always be wrapped up in this amazing “family” of characters! Because in the end the one thing that almost tore them all apart is the one thing that binds them: they are family always, forever and first!
Watching Vaughn grow through past books was so mysterious, Shen only ever gave us just enough! Ending this series with his story and seeing him grow was magnificent! Gah the love he holds inside of him is so much like the fierce love his father holds for his mother! Two broken men that needed the love of a strong, independent spirit, a father and a son! Nothing is more beautiful than that bond! Papa Vicious is glorious and I loved getting to be up close and personal with this family!
I’m in Awe once again with Shen’s amazing talent to create a story that not only surprises me but completely floors me altogether! Thank you Shen for sharing this group of friends and their lady loves! I loved seeing them all grow and start their families! Though I’m sad to leave I can’t wait to see what you write next!
