Dislike authors who leave the ending to the next book in the series
Enjoyable police story of unfortunate drug related problems
In a nutshell, get this book! I’ll be reading the series!
It was interesting n pace well that I wanted to keep reading it.
Very disappointed in the ending.
This was book one of a series and ended rather abruptly, The characters were flawed, but seemed real. The subject matter was depressing. I enjoy mysteries and murder is a staple, however the addict and cartel characters were real enough to give the depressed feeling.
This book is like one episode in a television series. It ends abruptly, leading you into purchasing the next ‘episode’ to continue the story. It is an example of why I read books and don’t watch television. The story just drags on through many books (‘episodes’) without an end in sight. A lot occurred in the story in this book that was never addressed at the abrupt ending – leaving the reader looking for more (there must be some pages missing!). There are way too many repetitious segments throughout the book describing characters’ flaws, hang-ups and psychological problems and the repetition became boring (as in, ‘What, again?’). The editing in the first part of the book was not too bad. Then the editor went on strike or maybe just took a nap. I prefer books that end with the story reaching some kind of conclusion. This one just leaves the reader wondering what happened to ‘the rest of the story’. When I finished this book, I deleted it from my library. I won’t be purchasing any more ‘episodic’ books. At the end, it felt like time wasted.
It was a page turner. You don’t know what happens until the end of the book. A great whodunnit!
The story line is good, characters are good but……I hated the way the author ended this book. It just ended, no explanation or resolve for any of the ongoing situations that occurred in the book or anything!!!! What a disrespectful thing this author did to her readers and fans. I’m sure she ended the book in this manner to make you buy her next book, however if I buy the next book in this series and find that she ended it in the same manner I WILL NOT BUY OR READ ANY MORE OF HER BOOKS….. PERIOD !!!! Lady get a grip, respect the characters in your book and most of all, respect your readers.
was not quite what I expected
Great depth of characters. Very believable storyline.
I didn’t like the ending, it left too much hanging.
Excellent book. Surprise ending. I’ve never read anything by Jamie Lee Scott before but I’m now a major fan. Well done!
I liked it. Looking forward to the next book!!
Made me want to read the next in the series
I enjoyed the characters. They were realistic. I would have liked more to remind me it takes place in Texas. The few times cities were mentioned reminded me, I was reminded. The ending of the case was handled well but the characters predicaments were left unfinished. Gonna have to get the next book.
Great read, bought both sequels after reading “Betty”.
Hated it, could the author finish the book!?main player in a coma, someone trying to kill her and it book ends! Cheap trick to sell more books!
Found the ending odd
Actually this book was a good read up until I turned the last page. Just imagine how you would feel if you were reading a hard-back novel, and when you got to the last page, it was torn out. That’s how I felt as this book was reaching its conclusion. As with most mystery type novels, this story was wrapping up several story lines that had been puzzling. All of a sudden, turn the final page, and the story ends with all these plot lines unresolved. It’s like the author was either too lazy to wrap up the story lines properly, or she thought this would be a neat way to sell more books. Obviously, the reader would have to buy the next book in the series to figure out what happened. This author is a good writer, but as a reader I feel cheated. If I buy the next book, will it also end abruptly so that I will be forced to again buy the next book and then the next book? I’m going to stop now with this author. There are too many good writers out there who deliver a complete story and wrap it up at the end as it should be. Very disappointed in this author!
