Joslyn Walters has goals:1. Infiltrate the life of the internet troll, Annie McClintonuck, who wrote a nasty review for her sister’s bakery before it even opened.2. Write an article exposing Annie for a fraud, thereby catapulting Joslyn’s stalled career from fact-checker to journalist.3. Flirt with, but don’t fall for, said troll’s hot, seemingly shy, incredibly edible next door neighbor, Rhode … next door neighbor, Rhode Bennett.
4. Try not to let one week change her life.
Not all trolls are cute and fuzzy but some lemons are gold in disguise.

This is cute story. I know that isn’t what authors want to necessarily hear about their stories, but that is the first word that comes to mind after reading this one.
This book stars a great band of characters, both main and supporting. They are fun, funny, and quirky. I enjoyed getting to know them and their story.
This book isn’t just a romcom. It’s also a book about self discovery. It’s about humans judging things without facts, and usually those judgments are wrong. It’s about learning to trust not just yourself, but also learning to trust others.
This book is sweet, laugh out loud funny, and entertaining. I really enjoyed this book from start to finish.
4.5
All the happy feels, I’m still feeling four hours later. The ending was perfect and I seriously love the relationship Joss and Rhode had. I felt I could relate to Joss on certain levels, such as being called a millennial just because we are born in the time period!
There were a couple parts that rubbed me the wrong way, but not so much that I’d ever quit reading or figuring out how this was going to play out. Whether you like your mother or not, you don’t call work and say she’s sick. And there were some immature parts where Joss showed her age and potentially some millennial ways. But in the end, things were wrapped up nicely and gave me all the feels.
When Joss sets out to prove who Angry Annie is, she finds herself face to face with a quite angry old lady, and Annie’s hot neighbor. As Joss works on her story for her job, she gets to really know both Annie and Rhode. There are some miscommunications that maturity could’ve cured but I loved the humor throughout the book. There were parts I was full on giggling, while my husband looked at me like I was crazy.
I still recommend this books to friends, don’t let my little hang ups keep you from reading a good story! Because I don’t regret reading this story, and neither will you!
I knew as soon as I saw the cover that I was going to love this book. Then I began reading it, and I was captivated. I was smirking, giggling and laughing along the whole way. This is pure Chiletz brilliance.
Joss seems to think she knows what she wants in life, and that is her career. If she could only get her manager to see that she could be an amazing journalist. All she needs is that one great story to give her a kick start. She thinks she found it, now to find the mysterious Angry Annie.
This is definitely one of the funniest rom-com’s I have read but I also loved the lessons Annie taught us, in her own way. She was one extraordinary character, and I wish I could meet her and Stupid. Joss was very similar in the way that she stood her ground and tried her best. I admired her for taking a step back and reassessing her life to make it more fuller. And lets not leave out Rhode, he was adorable and dependable which was just what Joss needed, even if she didn’t know it. I can’t recommend this book any more highly for those that want a good laugh.
Angry Annie is a funny, heartwarming book. It is about Joslyn, a fact checker who wants to be a reporter and the internet troll that writes a bad review about her sisters soon to be open bakery. Joslyn decides to track down the internet troll and expose them for the awful things they write online. When Joslyn finally meets the internet troll, Angry Annie, she discovers that there is more to a person than meets the eye.
I really enjoyed the rollercoaster ride that Joslyn and Annie go through. They are both so stubborn, set in the their ways and need to learn how to open up. Annie’s personality cracks me up and I just want to her a hug… even though she would hate it. Rhode is so cute and is a genuine good guy to both Joslyn and Annie. Joslyn and Annie’s character development as well as all the crazy situations they get into, will make you laugh out loud. If you love reading romcoms, then check this book out!
Thank you to Dawn L. Chiletz and HappilyEverInsta for sending me this arc to read and honestly review!
OMGosh! I laughed so much reading this! My kids kept asking me why I was giggling, and of course I couldn’t tell them! They were pretty inappropriate! I have a skewed sense of humor anyways and thought they were freaking hilarious! Especially when Annie is asking Joslyn why she’s asking about her neighbor. (Right after Annie asks if she’s writing an article about Annie or who lives near Annie, you’ll know when you read it. Can’t put it in my review for obvious reasons, plus it was one of my favorite conversations so I’m not going to spoil it anyways).
Annie is a pistol and had me dying. My cheeks hurt so much!!
Ok, here’s on that’s pretty tame (not the funniest but y’know, can’t give away ALL the good parts!
***“Are you a vampire? Do I have to tell you you’re welcome inside before you can cross the threshold?” I ask with a laugh.
“Lord have mercy. Did you get robbed?” she asks, placing her hand over her heart.
I roll my eyes. “I know it’s a mess. I get busy.”
“You busy being a slob. Child, no wonder you’re single. There’s probably a man buried in here somewhere and you don’t even know it.”
Bennett was great too, I really loved him. He’s sweet, romantic and sexy. He’s all the things! I want him to mow my lawn. Lol!
Want a good laugh, with some romance thrown in? Read this story!
Ok, so the humor isn’t for everyone, I get that. But, I for one, loved it and love this book! Annie’s my new favorite character ever!
Angry Annie is laugh out loud hilarious with ample gardening innuendos!! This story is once again unlike anything I have ever read! Dawn Chiletz has a way of telling a story that I have never read before. Her story telling is unique and flawless and I am constantly looking for a new story from her. I never know what I will find between each cover, and Angry Annie was is no exception.
Can I just tell you that Annie reminded me a bit of my grandmother, except well… I don’t think that my grandmother would be quite so pervy or cuss? Annie is hilarious, and she obviously makes this movie what it is, hence the title, but it was so much more than a little angry woman. (But she is that) Except when she is drunk and that my friends is special and hilarious!
Outside of Angry Annie we also have Josslyn and Annie’s neighbor who is a hot as sin landscaper, throw in a cop who is persistent and keeps showing up at the worst times and Joss’s crazy family this story is a quick read brimming with romantic comedy gold. Not to mention several cringe worthy moments, trust me, when you read this you will know exactly what I’m referring too!
If you are looking for a romantic comedy with an original plot line, look no further than Angry Annie!
One hundred percent honesty here, I totally chose to read this book because of the cover. I figured if a cover can crack me up imagine what’s inside that book! So, if you look at this cover and have the same thought DO IT! I laughed so hard I had tears running done my face. It doesn’t even stop there though, nope, because along with being hands down the most hilarious book I’ve ever read Angry Annie still contains a whole lot of heart, much like Annie herself.
This book genuinely starts you laughing with the cover and doesn’t stop. Seriously you will not stop laughing. You’re going to look ten thousand percent like a crazy person while you read this. I’m not exaggerating even a little bit. I was still laughing like a loon with the end. And hidden in all the hilarious banter and excellent one liners a heartwarming story grows.
Annie is a character that you can’t help but love. The woman has no filter, holds nothing back, and gives zero *ducks* what anyone thinks. Part of me wants to be Annie when I grow up and the other part of me realizes there’s an Annie hidden inside all of us. Along with all things Annie you get a seriously sweet romance with Joss and Rhode that is only slightly outshined by Annie’s antics, but let’s be real here, we’re all here for Angry Annie anyway.
This is a huge part of why I love book blogging. Reading and sometimes meeting new to me authors!
Dawn L. Chiletz is a new to me author and what a fun introduction with Angry Annie.
First, Angry Annie is a great book title! But it’s about so much more than just Annie, it’s the people in her world!
This is a love story, both past and present. How love in all it’s different facets can change a person, good and bad.
When introduced to Joss, I was on the fence about her. I admired her aggressive/assertiveness. But there was something that didn’t click right away with me. But as I continued with the story, I fell in love with her!
Rhode was swoony, he was just what Joss needed! But I also loved the fact that the story didn’t just center on the relationship between Joss and Rhode. This was more about the relationship between Joss and Annie and it was brilliant!
The humor and and the spitfire that is Annie was laugh out loud funny! She is a true inspirational character! All the characters in this book brought something relevant to the story, not just filler, which I appreciate!
From salad tongs to lemons and snapdragons (my favorite flower!), this story will make you laugh, it will make you think and it will make you look at the world a little differently. That is a testament to a great story!
This was such a hoot! Annie was NOTHING as I expected her to be. She was way better and I want an Annie in my life.
Yes this was crazy and very immature but such laugh out loud adventure.
Going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Figured by the summary of the story that Joslyn steals Annie’s man. There is sooo…. much more to this story and was a lot of fun to see. A bit of a slow burn, mild angst, lots of laughs, add some heat and smartass banter and you have definite entertainment.
If you can get past the immaturity and occasional surprising comments, you will find this quite amusing. Great short story.
Hilarious! I so enjoyed reading this book. It makes you laugh and love!
I adore this book and the author’s writing style. Annie might be one of my favorite characters ever written. She is just herself, no matter what the situation. She tells the truth as she sees it and no subject is taboo. The story also serves up important life lessons. Love it!
Angry Annie what such a fun and unexpected book. I couldn’t put it down nor I could stop laughing. The story line is refreshing, and the main characters are so interesting.
First, fact-checker and aspiring journalist Joslyn Walter, who is convinced her luck will change is she exposes internet trolls like Angry Annie, an elusive old and angry lady who writes very popular and negative online reviews. Joslyn decides to follow and interview Annie for a week and oh boy the situations she puts herself in! She will also meet Annie’s very hot and nice neighbor, Rhode. Annie will soon discover that things are not always what they seem and that maybe, her heart and integrity are more important than a potential story.
And can we talk about Wilbur? He should get his own book (just saying…) Overall, I really enjoy this book. Perfect for the summer.
Holy smokes! Where the heck have I been?! I’ve never read Dawn Chiletz before but this book….oh this book has me absolutely hooked. From start to finish, Angry Annie had me laughing til I the water works hit. The characters, the plot line, the wit that Chiletz added to the story, was fantastic.
Joslyn, Annie, Rhode….all of the characters, really…..had me hooked. I turned each page, and if I was drinking a drink, nearly spit it out of my dang nostrils. Yea, it was that laugh-out-loud-able(see what I did there? I’m a blogger. I can make up words.). I would feel a connection with Jos, then I’d see Annie and feel a whole new connection, then Rhode….oh mercy. That’s all I have to say about him, as I grab my glass of iced tea and my hand fan.
Yep, don’t wait. Grab it now. Just don’t drink anything while you read this, especially if it’s an eReader you’ve got it on. You’ll ruin it when the drink flies out of your mouth and nose. Dawn Chiletz is on my list of awesome authors, and I recommend this with 4 Bonfires. Grab it up now.
*This book was purchased by me. All opinions, negative or positive, are my own.*
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had a lot of self reflection and giggles with this book.
Cover:
Very cute, professionally done and even though it’s pretty abstract, it seems fitting.
Editing/Proofing:
Pretty good, I’d call it ‘almost professional’, as barring a few continuity issues and an instance or two of poor grammar, it’s in great shape.
Formatting:
Book is cleanly presented.
Character Development:
I’d say the characters are fairly well developed, not advanced. Aside from Annie, who I think the author did a great job with.
Overall:
This was a fun read that made me laugh several times. The dialogue is pretty great. Overall, I predicted the entirety of the book within the first few pages, the characters could have more distinct personalities and it could’ve been more original. That said, nothing’s original these days and it did keep me turning the pages. I don’t finish much these days, so that’s quite a feat the author accomplished.
Based on this, my first read by this author, I’d give the author another chance to surprise me, as she does have some storytelling-talent.
Thanks for the laughs.
I’d rate this book somewhere between 3-4 stars overall.
Could not put down this book, the one-liners, zingers, name calling, had me belly laughing . Joslyn dream is to be a journalist and she is working on it , but so far she is only the fact checker, she just can’t seem to get her foot in the door for more. She gets this brilliant idea for an article to follow and understand why internet trolls leave bad reviews. Her suspect is Annie McClintonuck, the lady that wrote a bad review for her sisters not even open yet bakery. With help she finds and propstions Annie to follow her around for a week and get some insight to her reviews. What she doesn’t expect is to have her life changed by one very blunt, foul mouthed, malevolent older lady. Not to mention Annie has a very very Hot as Sin neighbor who is one of Annie’s only friends.
Just a great read with hilarious characters.
I knew this book was going to be funny as soon as I saw the cover. I didn’t need to read a blurb, or wonder if my reading slump was going to keep me from finishing, because Dawn L. Chiletz had me hooked from the very first page.
Romantic comedies are one of my favorite genres, but I have read so many of them that I find myself being extra critical these days. But let me be the first to tell you that Angry Annie isn’t your typical romantic comedy. It’s a hilarious, laugh out loud kind of funny, with brilliant writing and extremely unique characters. I didn’t want to finish this story. I felt so connected to the characters that they felt like living, breathing humans to me. They came alive in my mind as I was reading. And now, the idea that Annie is just a character in a story is unfathomable to me. I need my own Angry Annie to visit and laugh with every day.
Dawn L. Chiletz is magical. If you haven’t read a book by her before, then make this one your first! And if you have, then you probably already know that everything she writes is pretty amazing. You won’t be disappointed by this one, I can promise you that (unless you don’t like to laugh). Because you will laugh more than a few times…or you’ll be like me and laugh so hard you have tears running down your face as you’re uncontrollably snorting. Either way, you’re going to love it!
Fresh, Unique RomCom!
This book literally had me laughing out loud! Although it is billed as a Romantic Comedy, there was a strong focus on Joss and her growing relationship with Angry Annie! Joss is a wannabe journalist who is herself furious that Annie has reviewed her sister’s bakery, when the bakery hasn’t even opened yet! She pitches an idea to write a story expose the internet troll to her publisher, and they strike a deal. Joss can write the article in her own time using her own funds for whatever she needs to accomplish that. What ensues is a series of daily hilarious situations where Joss faces a very witty adversary, all the time learning some valuable life lessons.
Mixed in the middle is Angry Annie’s neighbour, Rhode. Rhode and Joss have some communication issues, but they figure it out in the end. I felt that this romance aspect of the novel, was secondary to the antics of Joss with Annie! I was ok with this as the novel is so entertaining!
If you love “I Love Lucy” situations, with a romance on the side, you’ll love this book! I highly recommend it!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was my very first book by Dawn and it was fantastic! Annie was hilarious! And I loved the sassiness of Annie and Joss. I laughed so much in this book!
This story is written by a new to me author,it was nice, funny and thought provoking.
I’ll be checking out Dawn L. Chiletz previous works as soon as possible because Angry Annie was surprising and her flawless writing conquered me.
Joss is the fact-checking girl for a newspaper but her dream is to become a reporter so when she comes across a nasty review for her sister’s new bakery she decides to write an article in order to expose the real person behind the alias “Angry Annie”.
I’m glad that in an attempt to rat out the mean web troll our heroine discover some life truths that make her grow, becoming a better person.
I liked so much these characters, especially Annie and Rhode, that when I turned last page I was sad to say goodbye to them.
