This book is a standalone prequel to The Dublin Trilogy. For Detective Bunny McGarry, life is complicated, and it is about to get more so.It’s 1999 and his hard won reputation amongst Dublin’s criminal fraternity, for being a massive pain in the backside, is unfortunately shared by his bosses. His partner has a career-threatening gambling problem and, oh yeah, Bunny’s finally been given a crack at … yeah, Bunny’s finally been given a crack at the big time. He’s set the task of bringing down the most skilled and ruthless armed robbery gang in Irish history. So the last thing he needs in his life is yet another complication.
Her name is Simone. She is smart, funny, talented and, well, complicated. When her shocking past turns up to threaten her and Bunny’s chance at a future, things get very complicated indeed. If the choice is upholding the law or protecting those he loves, which way will the big fella turn?
Angels in the Moonlight is part of Caimh McDonnell’s critically acclaimed Dublin Trilogy series which melds fast-paced action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit, and it is complicated.

Background to the other books featuring Bunny. Helps to flesh out his character and make him more three dimensional.
Such a great combination of plot and character. And funny as heck!
Reading a book by McConnell always makes me happy I picked it up. So glad I discovered him!
I enjoyed the motley cast of characters in this Irish take of crime and mayhem. Yet I felt the author overdid his descriptions so the reader never lost sight of the Irish setting. I did a lot of skimming in the end, yet did resist jumping to the last page to finish. A good and satisfying take of unpredictable characters, well told but needs to be shorter.
Very funny dialogue. An excellent read.
Caimh McDonnel has become one of my favorite writers. His characters, plots, dialogue – they are unequaled.
Laughed out loud several times.
Great characters, fun stories, fast paced and doesn’t rely too much on the books before.
This book is a real page turner, like stay up past midnight reading. I love the main character Bunny and his partner. The language is rough, but it is the way they speak, with street smarts. I want to read more of this author.
What a fantastically well written book. Great characters, well rounded. Great dialogue. All these in the series are very well worth reading.
What a great witty book! More please.
Great. I will get the others.
Okay. You gotta love a policeman named Bunny. I mean it. He’s great. I enjoyed this book immensely.
Kudos to the author! An excellent book–fun to read, well-written and well-plotted.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Had me chuckling from the beginning to end. Will definitely be following this author
This book was about a misfit cop
This is a part of a 4-book “trilogy” (as a prequel, it’s #0). I had already read book 1. Liked this one even better. The protagonist is an overweight, potty-mouthed DI in Dublin with a strong sense of justice. I wasn’t too keen on him in the first novel, but he really grows on you. In this book he thwarts a drug heist, identifies crooked cops, and rescues a lounge singer. It’s all very Irish, with place names like Bronchluich, proper names like Eimear, terminology like sliotar, and groups such as Garda Síochána. I will definitely look for the other books in the series.
I enjoyed this book, it was funny, sad, and kept you turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next . And always rooting for the hero.
Absolutely loved this book! A great detective story that I couldn’t put down and had me laughing out loud throughout. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t all laughter and hijinx! The author really had me caring about the characters to the point I was sad to see the book end.
On to the next!
Loved it. Great Irish humor!
