This book is a standalone prequel to The Dublin Trilogy. For Detective Bunny McGarry, life is complicated, and it is about to get more so.It’s 1999 and his hard won reputation amongst Dublin’s criminal fraternity, for being a massive pain in the backside, is unfortunately shared by his bosses. His partner has a career-threatening gambling problem and, oh yeah, Bunny’s finally been given a crack at … yeah, Bunny’s finally been given a crack at the big time. He’s set the task of bringing down the most skilled and ruthless armed robbery gang in Irish history. So the last thing he needs in his life is yet another complication.
Her name is Simone. She is smart, funny, talented and, well, complicated. When her shocking past turns up to threaten her and Bunny’s chance at a future, things get very complicated indeed. If the choice is upholding the law or protecting those he loves, which way will the big fella turn?
Angels in the Moonlight is part of Caimh McDonnell’s critically acclaimed Dublin Trilogy series which melds fast-paced action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit, and it is complicated.

The prose is clean, sharp, and lively. This mystery, deftly seasoned with humor and Irish slang, is memorable and powerful. The characters are compelling and well-developed. Made it through Chapter 5 but just could not make myself continue. I was unimpressed with the characters. Thank goodness I received this one for free.
Great dialogue. Laughed out loud. Loved the book.
I wonderfully delightful read. The adventures of Bunny, a large bumbling detective, who always pushes forward with uncertain consequences, but with always humorous results.
Fabulous dialog, great characters, engaging plot, this book has it all. For a serious story, I laughed a lot. Great author, I’ve ordered another book by him. I will purchase anything this author writes!
Laughed out loud way too often
Very funny, original and super story!
Look forward to sequel.
none of the above. ok, improbable. not to spend on
There was danger, an lively characters and humor.
I enjoyed the wit and characters. I also enjoyed the slang
Quit after the first few chapters. Too cute.
Caimn McDonnell never disappoints. His characters are believably real. You laugh and cry with them. Unfortunately I deleted this book from my kindle because I was so wrapped up in what was happening to the people, that I either missed or Caimn didn’t say….WHAT HAPPENED TO T HE DIAMONDS. Hope his next book with these characters reveals all. Also, please bring back the nuns. They are a hoot.
p.s. We may share a last name, but unfortunately are not related. Wish we were.
I loved this book…..
This writer is amazing And this story leaves you wanting more of his Bunny character. The story is funny and I would love to see it on the screen some day Can’t wait for more
Loved this story – set in Dublin around 2000, main characters are flawed but often funny and appealing cops and criminals. Crime drama but with funny touches. Really good! I am now reading the 1st in the Dublin trilogy.
This author does a great job with character development and making you like them, but even the plot is great! This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I’ve read his three books in this series and cannot wait for more!
