This series is so hot and sexy! We get to see how Tyler and Maddie deals with the loss that have changed them so much. They both have feelings for each other and they start to come to terms with it. They both must let go of their anger, guilt and everything else that has happened in their lives because it just makes them exhausted. This second book is a roller coaster ride of the best kind! I can’t wait for the next book. The writing duo of JA Huss and Jonathan McClain is perfect!
So this is book two in the Original Sin series. I really liked it. Maddie’s character was developed a little bit more and she became more than just a likeable character. I have a feeling she’s going to become a “bombshell” 😉 And Tyler is sweet, sexy, and hilarious. Everyone says so. This is a fantastic writing partnership between Huss and McClain. It left off on quite a cliffhanger, but the next novel releases in 3 weeks so you be a’ight.
This series pulls me right in. They’re both a hot mess. He’s suffering some major guilt, PTSD and a little bit of crazy. She’s also suffering significant guilt, zero self-confidence and is holding onto so much anger.
Except for Evan, Tyler’s been forgotten. Maddie is just pushing everyone away and retreating into her own private hell. Tyler will not give in. He’s going to be her safe place (yeah, still a bit crazy ). She’s fighting him until she can fight no more.
Each time they are together their is this magnetic force pulling and pulling u til they combust. Neither seems to be able to stop, nor do they really want to. As soon as feelings enter into it, and each seems to be coming to terms with what that means, BAM!
I did not see that coming! Now for book 3!!
OMG! Can I just say how much I Love Tyler!! I love Maddie too I really do but Tyler just draws me in, I love everything about him. The audio narration really brings him to life and is spot on. This whole book was amazing, ended on a super sad note but I’m jumping right into book 3!
This started a little weird with Tyler’s out-of-body god conversation and her angel-devil conversation.
Angels Fall is more . . . . intense.
These two are both beyond messed up but make for such an explosive pair, in and out of the bedroom.
Maddie. Poor Maddie. Life keeps handing her lemons, I mean seriously, nothing goes right for her and she just wants to escape, run away from it all. What a horrible feeling to have
We both liked this story better than the first, Sin with Me was great and all, but this one was just more of everything and honestly, it just flowed better.
Now don’t go thinking this is all lovey-dovey, there were some really sweet moments and towards the end, they seem to be able to move on and actually get along, it was nice to see but there is a very healthy dose of Huss in there, you know, the typical “let’s make these bitches work for their HEA”. Did you really expect anything less?
The Original Sin series continues right where Sin with Me leaves off. Maddie and Tyler are living in their own personal hell. Each trying to find light in so much darkness.
Maddie’s stubbornness and “I’ll figure this out on my own” attitude is getting in the way of any chance of happiness she may find. Tyler is convinced that they were put in each other’s path to help right the wrongs of the past and he is determined to find a way to show Maddie they belong together. The chemistry they share is scorching hot. Tyler’s wicked sense of humor and inner monologues make for many LOL moments.
Together they revisit the cause of the deepest pain for both of them which ultimately brings the pair closer. However the special connection and joy they find is short lived when danger and more heartache is forced on their front door.
Julie and Johnathan have perfected the art of the cliffhanger and the anticipation for Flesh Into Fire (book#3) couldn’t be greater.
“‘…It’s up to us to decide what something means.’”
The quirky brilliance of J. A. Huss and wit of her newest writing partner, Johnathan McClain is once again marvelously displayed in this the second installment of the four-book saga, “The Original Sin” series. This book aptly titled “Angels Fall”, on its face, is an exciting story of previously star-crossed loves Tyler and Maddie finding each other and dealing with painful issues from the past and present. If you take a moment to savor the allegory and symbolism, the narrative is peppered with themes of man’s construct of God, the fundamental meaning behind what happens in our lives, and how love for one another can be redemption for anyone’s fall from grace.
Oh, it is so tempting to get lost in the story because it is so darkly interesting, exciting and for lack of a better word, a bit “kooky”. And do not get me started on the level of heat radiating from the page. Erotica never had more skilled pens!!! OMG!!! Because I love her writing so, I can almost guess the parts Ms. Huss wrote. I also have a feeling about which parts Mr. McClain wrote. Let’s just say there’s a certain charm that Tyler acquires that bears the touch of a male author. The net result is a memorable first half to an exciting series that is engrossing and entertaining in many ways.
I have enjoyed the character development of both Tyler and Maddie. Tyler after barely surviving his self-made inferno, seems to embrace a new mission to right the wrong Maddie holds in her heart against him. He pursues Maddie with single-minded purpose and surprising emotional intelligence.
For her part, Maddie is wrestling with both an angel and the devil on each shoulder in the classic fashion. In fact, her stripper personae transformed from pure angel to red devil, pitch fork and all. She still has her problem with the underworld boss who now thinks he is in love with her. In fact, her problem escalates eventually to an unbearable level of tolerance. She is transformed by both her love that she shares with Tyler and an unburdening of her heart over the death of her brother.
I find the title to this book fascinating. There are so many references to falling, especially when Maddie is describing her feelings. Quite obviously both Tyler and Maddie are “falling” in love with each other. Yet again, when the angels fell from heaven, they became devils, so I am at quite the personal impasse about what exactly the authors are suggesting with their title unless “‘…It’s up to us to decide what something means.’”
Books in Original Sin series should be read in order:
Book 1: Sin with Me
Book 2: Angels Fall
Book 3: Flesh Into Fire
Book 4: Passion Rising
Hot as Hell…no pun intended. I am so addicted to these two and their story. Angels Fall is so much more hotter than book one Sin With Me.
Maddie is such a BADASS and my kind of girl. I absolutely love the lady balls this girl has and with all she’s been through in life she can physically handle her own. Mentally though, well that’s another story. Her having the Angel on one side and the Devil on the other side cracks me up. I FLOVE IT!!!
Tyler’s crazy ass keeps me laughing and falling for him all at the same time. I absolutely love his crazy ass and yes, he is crazy, but in a good way. I really can’t get enough.
Tyler and Maddie together make for one hell of a crazy roller coaster of a ride that I am no where near ready to get off of yet. I absolutely love these two so freaking much!!
JA Huss and Johnathan McClain have done such an amazing job with these characters and I hope that these two write more together because they are freaking amazing together.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
My goodness, after finishing up this book, I’m wondering how in the world JA and Johnathan are going to bring even more heat for the next two books! The chemistry between Tyler and Maddie is still just as electric as it was in the first book, although Tyler now has his work cut out for him in regards to the friend-relationship with Maddie. I wasn’t expecting him to go to who he did in regards to advice and guidance, but I loved seeing how they interacted with each other. I’m beginning to see how everything is slowly falling into place and I cannot wait to see how this series will play out. Loved the action and the sexiness, but hot dang, it’s just one heck of a book!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book. Wow! How do I put my feelings into words and review this book? Julie and Johnathan are amazing together and this book totally sucked me into their world, that being Maddie and Tyler’s messed up world. This book picks up where we left off in Sin With Me. Each facing their own demons, Tyler wants to fix everything and prove to Maddie they do belong together, but can he convince her? Maddie needs Tyler, but that’s the last thing she will ever admit, but with Tyler working so hard to be with her, will he be able to kick down the wall she’s put up around her? Maddie and Tyler are explosive together, their chemistry is off the chart smoldering hot, but can they survive what’s ahead of them? Together? Absolutely loved this book, this series is really kicking my butt, waiting for the next book in the series, I can’t wait. This is a definite must read, I highly recommend this book.
Lord have mercy it’s good!
I was blown away by this read!
Edgy, suspenseful and funny, this installment was well written and after the major cliffhanger in book 1, I appreciated that book 2 released soon after book 1.
It begins right where book 1 ended. Except the story took some unexpected suspenseful twists. The story was well developed but the beginning of the story had some scenes that were difficult to follow, and there were some slightly predictable moments. In this installment, Tyler and Maddie’s character are further developed so we get to discover who they really are.
Angels Fall is not a standalone so there’s no way you can understand and enjoy this book without reading Sin With Me first.
I need more and I cannot wait for the next book to learn what direction the story takes.
Book two of the Original Sin series continues the story of Maddie and Tyler. We’ve met the characters, we’ve experienced their meeting and now we are really getting to the nitty-gritty of each character.
And although this installment did have some suspense to it, what I found was it was about diving deeper into each character. Tyler is screwed up, no doubt. And Maddie, man that girl really needs to catch a break. And together these two broken characters have to fight to save themselves – through saving one another.
I am A HUGE JA HUSS fan and am totally on team #HussMcClain. I am eager to find out what happens in the city of sin. Angels Fall was a little bit slower pace, but still just as hot as book one. I have a feeling this book was the slow burn portion of the story.
And again, Maddie had my heart. I am torn over what I want more for her – for her to finally win one on her own, or for her to let Tyler just make it all go away. And Tyler. Shit. He’s quirky, effed up and I am loving his sarcasm. As the story progresses, you start to see it as a coping mechanism, which has me trying to figure him out. I think we’ve barely scratched the surface when it comes to his character.
Flesh Into Fire releases in just a few weeks (April 17th) and I can’t wait
#whatthehellisgoingon #sometimesangelsfall He #needs #redemption she #needs #salvation #allyouneedislove
Maddie doesn’t want anyone’s help, but she needs it. Her stubbornness is a recipe for disaster. Tyler needs a purpose, and her name is Maddie. Despite their tragic beginnings, Tyler knows he can turn things around. All he has to do is convince her.
The Huss McClain team created an adorably stubborn heroine in Maddie. The red hair and fiery temper are in direct contrast to the empathetic nature of her soul. Maddie is a conundrum of good and evil in one beautiful woman.
Despite his wealth, Tyler is a down-to-earth military guy with PTSD and an imaginary relationship with James Franco. He began the series as a person who lost interest in living until he hooked up with multi-career-former-wedding-planner-turned-stripper Maddie. When Tyler discovers her secret; his new mission is Maddie, all his focus was her.
The book ends on a cliffhanger. Another bad thing happens, it’s very bad and sad, and Maddie feels responsible. She vowed the only debt she owes is payback. Maddie deserves her payback, and for that, I can’t wait to read Flesh into Fire.
Angels Fall the second book in the Original Sin Series, is best appreciated after reading Secret Sins
Angels Fall is the second book in the Original Sin series by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain. We come back to Maddie and Tyler’s story immediately after Sin With Me ends. Both characters are struggling with their past actions that translate to personal fails. In my opinion, they aren’t fails but actions that humans take for others that are continually second-guessed.
Tyler is gradually dealing with his PTSD and love for Maddie. There are some very touching moments especially when he runs into someone from the past. I love how he grows enough to look at what Maddie needs before his own. Let me say that Evan and Robert are two of my favorite ancillary characters. They step up every time that Tyler needs a friend. I love these two to death.
Maddie is in so much pain. In Angels Fall we learn a little more about why she suffers so much after Scotty’s death. It breaks my heart when she shares with Tyler. I feel both her Tyler’s sorrow and loss more than I expected. I love this character so much. She acts out of control sometimes and doesn’t think through some decisions, but underneath it all, she is solid and compelling. Like Tyler, there is a big heart screaming to come out. I love her fight and strength that comes out by the end.
I love bad guys who are so bad that there isn’t any option but to hate them. Huss and McClain do an excellent job bringing out the worse of the bad guy elements in Carlos and make him an evil man that I hate. I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for him to get his comeuppance. I hope Logan is included in that punishment too.
My greatest fears when writing reviews are that I will miss putting my thoughts together in a way that conveys how much a story touches me. That continues to concern me with Angels Fall; just know that this is a tremendously moving series. The story runs the gamut from funny to painfully emotional, and that ending made me break down. Julie and Johnathan are an excellent writing team. It is apparent that they get each other and develop the characters appropriately to complement the talents of both authors.
Angels Fall ends with a killer cliffhanger. Have no fear, the story picks up again in three weeks with Flesh Into Fire—don’t think that title doesn’t give me a moment of panic. Anyone can deal with cliffhangers for three weeks especially when the promise of more goodness is right around the corner. Huss/McClain well done; another must read—like ASAP.
Well here we are in book two of this Original Sin series and this story just keeps getting better and better. Huss and McClain write flawlessly together, each taking Maddie and Tyler’s thoughts and POVs to another level.
Picking up where we left off in Sin With Me, the bombshell discovery of Scarlett and Ford’s true identity puts both Maddie and Tyler in a bit of tailspin. Yet despite all the reasons why they shouldn’t be together, these two can’t help but collide like the glorious trainwreck they are. And getting to watch as they try to navigate lives that are lonely yet full of nonstop action is extremely mesmerizing and addictive.
Huss and McClain combine insanely clever wit with a desperate tenderness that is truly masterful. At times I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry since my own emotions became a whirlwind as well. But with a cameo by James Franco as God, it’s no wonder any of us know which end is up.
Both Maddie and Tyler are wonderful characters even when they deserve a dressing down for actions that border on over the top selfishness. But you can’t help but love them and want to see their journey through, no matter the cost.
This is one incredible ride that I cannot wait to continue.
Another huge kudos for a job really well done, Huss and McClain are the writing duo to watch, there is no doubt about it.
5 huge stars!
Tyler and Maddie are slowly coming to grips with their feelings for each other and the fact that they can control every little thing that happens to them. They are beginning to understand that they are wearing themselves out emotionally by constantly battling everyone and everything. Being angry all the time is tiring. Both Tyler and Maddie are slowly coming to terms with Scotty’s death. Now Carlos Castill9 has upped the ante and that simply is not acceptable to Maddie. She’s going to do something about it.
That. Ending! Holy smokes, those last couple of chapters… oh, they were INTENSE! This book absolutely ended with my jaw hanging wide open and my heart pounding like a caged tiger begging to be set free. And I know I shouldn’t be surprised at all with what happened there—I swear, with these two authors, anything freaking goes—but I still didn’t see that coming.
After getting one helluva a cliffhanger from Sin With Me, co-authors J. A. Huss and Johnathan McClain bring us back to the heart of Las Vegas with an even raunchier and crazier ride than ever. We’re shown more bits and pieces of what truly happened in the past and how Tyler and Maddie tried to mend their friendship, relationship and broken hearts.
Reading this book will make you feel unhinged in the best way possible. Being inside Tyler Hudson Morgan’s head? It’s beyond fascinating and terrifying all at the same time. It’s going to make you crack up and cringe and giggle—because the guy has absolutely no filter at all—but at the end of the day, he’s still one of the kindest, most charming heroes with the biggest heart ever. And underneath all of that humor and insanity were just emotions that were so deep they will blindside and knock you right in the gut.
Angels Fall might’ve not engrossed nor drew me in as much as the first book did, but those last few chapters were certainly the boost I needed. Yes, it was steamy and filled with passion, but I was still craving for more of those moments that would sucker punch and hit me hard. Thankfully, it was all there, served in one big silver platter, towards the end.
And while this didn’t have as much action and suspense as I would’ve wanted for the next book in Tyler and Maddie’s story, I’m just absolutely falling in love with the writing style of this author duo. There’s something about it that’s so compelling and is truly a breath of fresh air. It’s captivating in a very unique way. Trust me—when you read this book, this series, you’ll know what I mean right off the bat.
This is book 2 in the Original Sin series and you need to read book one before this in order to follow the storyline.
We pick up where we left off on book one and that was where I wanted to slap both Tyler and Maddie to knock some sense into them. Tyler is still all sorts of random crazy with his thought process and actions in this instalment so sometimes he can be a bit overbearing but you can’t help but love him all the same. Maddie is just as random within herself but she at least seems to be making an effort to keep her head screwed on and keep herself afloat. We do get some answers in this book as to where both the characters have been and how they got to that point so I felt satisfied in that sense, however more questions have been opened up and we get left hanging slightly at the end (don’t worry it’s not a kindle chucker though).
Overall you couldn’t help but laugh at these characters and I love them and their entertaining thoughts and antics. It does take a couple of chapters to get into the story but once it’s these characters get in your head you won’t want to stop reading. As always there is some really hot scenes in there and we get a bit more of the side characters. I get a feeling that in book 3 we will see a darker side of Maddie and so I am really looking forward to see what happens with this couple next.
“I loved him once. I won’t make that mistake again.”
If you haven’t started this SEXY and INTRIGUING series yet, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! It’s an absolute SEXY romance with a suspenseful BITE! Cowriters JA Huss and Johnathan McClain has definitely proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in this genre! JA Huss has always been a favorite of mine, but with the addition of Johnathan’s words…well, they have brought something damn special to the table with their Original Sin Series.
I can’t say much because this is a true series and I don’t want to give anything away, but what I can tell you is that Maddie and Tyler are my DELICIOUS ADDICTION! Their push/pull dynamic, both with their banter and their emotions, completely captivate me and hold me hostage to every single word on the pages. The SEX is SCORCHING HOT, but you really shouldn’t be surprised by that. The ongoing storyline is fascinating and completely seductive. My head and my heart are at WAR when it comes to these two characters. I’ve been drawn in by the drama and enthralled by their epic journey.
I’m all sorts of conflicted because I know there are two more books coming out and man, do I want to savor the hell out of them. But on the other hand I need Maddie and Tyler’s HEA like I need my next breath, so all in all, I’m pretty much screwed when it comes to getting what I want. Either way, I have no doubt that I will be 150% satisfied with how this all ends. The collaboration that is JA Huss and Johnathan McClain just keeps getting better and better and we can only hope that this series isn’t the only project in the works for these two!
So, yeah. Well, this is intense. Again. I don’t know how else to describe it. Intense is the best word here.
Maddie and Tyler are totally fucked up, right? And you already know that, but you can’t stop reading this story. You just can’t. Because these two characters who are flawed in more ways than I can count are the ultimate push and pull, love and hate, friends and enemies kind of story.
Picking up where Sin With Me ends, we know Tyler did some crazy, fucked up shit. We know Maddie is pissed beyond reason at Tyler.
We know that both are in some crazy shit.
And it’s there that I leave you with the ‘what the fucks’ and the ‘holy shits’ and the ‘no that didn’t just happen’ because that’s just the kind of book this is.
Another crazy, fucked up story about two people who are so star-crossed, yet perfect for each other.
Tyler finally–FINALLY–pulls his head out of his ass. Maddie stops fighting life. Things start to look like they’re on the right path.
Then, BOOM. Like, literally because that’s just he way JA Huss and Johnathan McClain write. Just when you think it’s all sunshine and rainbows, it’s not. Not even close.
But then again, did we really expect sunshine and rainbows? Maddie owes that Carlos guy. Tyler is all crazy. Why did I get comfy?
Do we even have to talk about the sex? Should I? I should, but I won’t. It isn’t the point of the book. I mean, it’s fantastic and it’s hot and there are some scenes that will just live with you long after you close the book, but that’s not why Maddie and Tyler are worth reading. Granted, they have absolutely ZERO problems in the bedroom–or bathroom, car, alley, hotel, Hoover Dam–and that is always fun to read, so yeah, if you want that out of a book, this is good for that too. But it’s also good for THE STORY.
Because Tyler and Maddie have some serious demons that need handled. And I think they’re only getting started.
