An ancient secret brotherhood.
A devastating new weapon of destruction.
When world-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a mysterious symbol — seared into the chest of a murdered physicist — he discovers evidence of the unimaginable: the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati… the most powerful underground … powerful underground organization ever to walk the earth. The Illuminati has now surfaced to carry out the final phase of its legendary vendetta against its most hated enemy — the Catholic Church.
Langdon’s worst fears are confirmed on the eve of the Vatican’s holy conclave, when a messenger of the Illuminati announces they have hidden an unstoppable time bomb at the very heart of Vatican City. With the countdown under way, Langdon jets to Rome to join forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and mysterious Italian scientist, to assist the Vatican in a desperate bid for survival.
Embarking on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that snakes across Rome toward the long-forgotten Illuminati lair… a clandestine location that contains the only hope for Vatican salvation.
An explosive international thriller, Angels & Demons careens from enlightening epiphanies to dark truths as the battle between science and religion turns to war.

It’s well written, it has surprises at every turn, it’s suspenseful…it’s everything good in getting in lost in a book!
The BookBub Buzz question was: “What’s a book that kept you up all night reading?” and while there are one or two books that I can think of, I would have to say that it was Dan Browns ‘Angels & Demons’ which made me lose a precious nights sleep so that I could find out who did it. While my first introduction to Dan Brown was through ‘The Da Vinci …
The first book in the Robert Langdon series was………….. Angels and Demons. What? That is crazy. That is not the order the movies were made in, ah, Hollywood. In Angels and Demons we meet Robert Langdon, the symbologist who will become the main character in Brown’s next 5 books. Symbologist, cryptographer…..Dan Brown can make the oddest job …
I just read this and really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to The Davinci Code!
Another excellent and enjoyable journey with Robert Langdon on what turned out (for me) to be one of the most visual reads I have had in along time. Well paced, intriguing and interesting Dan Brown enveloped me in a couple of worlds I knew nothing about and not once did he lose me.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the ending of the book …
Hard to put this one down
One of my favorite authors of all times! Dan is incredibly intelligent. You learn a lot from his books yet the non-stop action makes it fun and easy to learn.
Probably my favorite Dan Brown. He’s an amazing author and I hope he continues to write more in the Robert Langdon series. His other books were great too but I’ve fallen in love with the character and find myself anxiously awaiting each new book when it’s being released
The book for me was a page turner. I’d just had a minor surgery and was relagated to the couch. Maybe it was the timing or the medication, but I couldn’t quit reading this book.
Interesting
Outstanding. One of the best books I’ve read. Action packed.
One of my all time favorites
Time to re-read!
Better than, and prequel to, The Da Vinci Code
Very thoughtful and presented two sides to the science/religion debate
Have always been a fan of Brown’s and tried to read every single one of his works I could get my hands on. Angels and Demons was one amazing read, and film too; it did leave me more than a little scared though. From the Wi’tch fire series to the Lost Symbol; Brown’s novels are always one exciting journey I’d love to take and see to the end.
It’s Dan Brown! What can you say? He needs to write faster!
One of Dan Browns best books!!
I read this long ago and, though I can’t remember the particulars, I do remember waiting for its release and not being disappointed. Dan Brown is a winner.
As with all of the Robert Langdon books, this one did not disappoint. Exciting, thrilling, suspenseful, it kept me fully engaged throughout the entire book. So ready for another book in the series.
