„Angeles Covenant“ is already the fourth book in the “Angeles Vampire” Series by Michael Pierce, a series with a unique take on vampire lore set in a very urban environment, that keeps improving and evolving from page to page,
Fiona is on the run from the True North Society, which considers her not only a traitor but the major culprit in the past events, unable to go home, she is forced into hiding. Even worse, her only remaining ally in the Society advise her on Matthew’s disappearance. Meanwhile Mathew, even aware of Fiona situation, he is unable to help, has problems of his own: the sun is about to rise in desert and there is no cover to be found. The Society is confronted with an altered timeline, in which the Vampire Nation makes itself known to humans, a crucial announcement that is encountered with awe by some and distrust and fear by most and could bring by the end of a relatively peaceful coexistence.
True to Pierce’s style, the story is action-packed, fast-paced, without feeling rushed, filled with unexpected twists and myriads of questions, offers some answers that lead to new questions, and once more breathtaking ending, that keeps the reader dangle from the cliff and expecting deliverance through the next installment. I’ll let you in a secret (pssst!), I know with full conviction that Michael Pierce doesn’t write with a pen (not keyword either) he uses an illusionist wand, that keeps on issuing tricks and messing with the reader’s mind to his/her full enjoyment.
What a series! I was anticipating having some more answers to some burning questions about what was going on. Little by little we learn how the different players are involved but that only lead to more questions. Such a mystery! Mr Pierce just keeps you hanging on dangling that carrot while you are left drooling with hunger. Yes, I’m hungry for more. I need to read on to find more answers. This is a very unusual vampire story. Very creative Mr Pierce! As for those who gave up reading after the first book I say to you that you are truly missing out.
