After her brother’s death in Viet Nam, Angela is raising his daughter, Polly. She meets his good friend. Jim said if anything happened to him, that Abe is to check in on Angela and Polly and make sure they’re doing okay. Abe was a POW along with Jim, and is home on leave trying to recover from his ordeal and the ensuing injuries. They have immediate an attraction to each other. This is a beautiful and heartwarming story. They’ve both lost Jim, who was so important in their lives, but his death brings them together in a wonderful journey to their happy ending.

This is a well written book with strong, well developed characters in Abe and Angela. The author does a beautiful job bringing a heartfelt story dealing with PTSD , loss and grief. She brings the two together and weaves a touching story of finding love and the struggles they will need to deal with along the way. I couldn’t help but root for them , hoping they could find their HEA in the end. I loved and would highly recommend this book.

Abe and Angela will touch your heart in this story. Abe comes to see Angela and Polly on a promise he made to her brother. They were prisoners of war and Abe was the one to make it back home. They are captivated with each other right from the start which ignites flames of emotions between them. As they continue to see each other the stronger the bond becomes but Abe suffers from PTSD and is afraid of hurting Angela. Angela has complete faith in Abe that he will not hurt her but that is nothing compared to Abe going back for another tour of duty. Will their relationship survive him being away? You will cheer this couple on their journey through all of their endeavors to a happily ever after.

A very touching story about a soldier, Master Sergeant Abraham Marley Fiske (Abe) who fulfills his best friend, Jim, and comrade’s final wish of checking up and relating information to his daughter Polly and his sister Angela. Abraham and Jim were captured and tortured in Vietnam, only Abraham survived and returned to the States. Angela finds Abraham attractive and invites him to dinner and to celebrate the holiday season which she promises will be low key due to Jim’s death. What happens as Abe stays in town was an endearing and romantic story with very likable characters in an engaging ARC.
